AQI and the rest knew they could never beat the US military in a stand-up fight. IEDs and the rest of their tactics had only one goal: to weaken political resolve to fight the war. With Reid, Obama, Pelosi etc throwing every bucket of blood the jihadists handed them the war was prolonged because the jihadists saw strategic opportunity as long as these clowns ran their mouths.
