Most Senators think of themselves as staying Senators long after Obama leaves town. Or running for Governor or President. Some board position probably not a tempting insurance policy.

Yep. Adding all those layers is part of why it's so hard to roll back any of this crap....

"We want to get rid of Program X" is a good slogan, but .. the actual implementation looks like trying to remove an egg from a plate of beef fried rice... There are some obviously egg bits, and some obviously not-egg bits, but ...

I think many are missing one aspect of the Cap and Trade plan.

It creates a whole slew of Administration appointed positions. All of these "boards" and panels who will control the energy economy are appointed positions... which will be filled with Eco Loyalists.

Thus, these fence sitting Senators will be approached and told that even if they loose an election, they will be taken care of.

Durbin is likely a lost cause, due to his leadership post in the Senate. Burris is a more interesting case. He's probably toast as a Senator, so the question is who he might kiss up to for his next gig.

The interesting ones to watch are Dick Durbin and Roland Burris.

Illinois has a good number of coal jobs, once you get far enough south of I-80... (the towns "Carbondale" and "Coal city" owe their names to this not-insignificant industry...)

Dick(head) and, moreso Roland, are bought and paid for by Obama...
