Always enjoy browsing RedEyeRecap for clips, since I’ve yet to bring myself to plop down 50 greenbacks every month purely for Gut and Beck. I came upon this gem from quite a while ago…
…surprisingly relevant, given recent items I’ve seen in the headlines. This is one of those cases where it truly is relative. In Spitzer’s case, his conduct was far more hurtful to the taxpayers since the likelihood that some of their money went to the hookers was pretty high. However, in Sanford’s case, cheating on his wife and willfully falling in love with someone else, I would think, would hit our conservative tendencies a tad harder.
Betrayal of any kind is shattering, but there are different degrees. Giving away your sexual commitment can hurt a loved one, but giving away your love and devotion is an ever more painful act.
Frankly, I think they’re both douchepuddles. Thoughts?

Interesting abstract point concerning love and commitment blossoming for the extra-marital lover and hence wilting for the spouse. The supposition being that it is not as bad if the cheating doesn’t cause less love for the spouse and/or more love for the extra-marital partner. Realistically, I want very little to be any involved in such tangle – a conundrum, in fact, as there is so much else than just love.
