Obama Worshipping Continues

Like most of his fellow ‘journalists,’ Robert Fisk seems to passionately support Presdent Obama. Be sure to read his latest piece; it’s a classic already:
Preacher, historian, economist, moralist, schoolteacher, critic, warrior, imam, emperor. Sometimes you even forgot Barack Obama was the President of the United States of America.
Jolly good. He’s a Great Man, isn’t he? Well, a man, that isn’t correct, of course. He’s more like a god. The God. “There is no God but Obama and Robert is his prophet,” something like that.
Hey Robert, next time, just link to this piece at WikiPedia. It spares you valuable time, and makes your point much better than you possibly can.
Why the worshipping? Well, firstly because Obama is real lefty, like Fisk, secondly because he gives a good speech, and thirdly, because he is willing to drop Israel as if the Jewish nation-state is hot:
The Palestinians had suffered without a homeland. “The situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable,” Obama said and the US would not turn its back on the “legitimate Palestinian aspiration for a state of their own”. Israel had to take “concrete steps” to give the Palestinians progress in their daily lives as part of a road to peace. Israel needed to acknowledge Palestinian suffering and the Palestinian right to exist. Wow. Not for a generation has Israel had to take this kind of criticism from a US President. It sounded like the end of the Zionist dream. Did George Bush ever exist?
Yes, Bush did indeed exist. In fact, he was president for eight years, if I remember correctly. And if I’m not mistaken, Fisk was one of those who refused to compare Bush to satan because he believed it to be insulting to the latter.
The above is still a very interesting quote because it shows that he has no idea what he’s talking about. Bush did criticize Israel. And Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush did the same.
In fact, George W. succeeded in convincing Israel to withdraw from Gaza.
Why? Because Ariel Sharon trusted Bush. He knew Bush wanted what’s best for Israel. Jerusalem cannot be sure about that, however, with Obama. Bush was a friend of Israel, Obama is not. Bush would never let Israel be destroyed, but you cannot be sure about that with his successor.
Then again, perhaps that’s exactly what Fisk likes so much about the 44th president of the United States.
Another key quote:
Over and again, one kept saying to oneself: Obama hasn’t mentioned Iraq – and then he did (”a war of choice… our combat brigades will be leaving”). But he hasn’t mentioned Afghanistan – and then he did (”we do not want to keep our troops in Afghanistan… we will gladly bring every one of our troops home”).
Oh my. It’s unbelievable! He can read your mind! Of course that’s not very surprising in so far that this is precisely why Fisk believes him to be al-Alim (the All-Knowing) and as-Sami (the All-Hearing). Right, Robert?

Robert Fisk hates Jews and nuance I think.

We can but try.
This kind of lovesickness cries out for an editor. Do you think Fisk hated himself in the morning?

Pundette: I’d love to think so, but I’m afraid not.
Happyfeet: yeah, and conservatives. He’s a bit like the liberal columnist from hell.
