Yes. I assume remembrances, honors and condolences being done privately, and are simply not being reported on line. Yet, I do wonder why no national or even Arkansas reporters are providing any background information about the victims. There’s nothing in the Arkansas press or any of the local web sites, even though the victims are local men.

To me, you don’t honor the fallen, or respect their families by remaining silent about them.

So, I hope more information will come out about them.

Not to mention the fact that you didn’t even rebut his point with anything substantial other than “I’m guessing that…” There are plenty of comments in the recruiter shooting thread about the disparity in media coverage as well.

My personal impression is that on this site, the abortion murder as a story on its own (disregarding media coverage) was more sensational one than the military shooting on its own. I’d welcome a civil comment from you explaining why you disagree.

Yet, while there are plenty of “human interest” pieces on George Tiller, I can find no biographical material at all from the MSM about William Long. He is simply presented as a name, a victim, not a human being with interests, goals, friends, family, history of serving his country.

As of 11:15 a.m. EST, the Commander in Chief has yet to release a statement condemning the murder of a member of the armed forces by a suspected terrorist.

Having two sons serving, one headed to Afganeeston, and the other off the coast of Sooomolia, the thought of that despicable sack of shit being their CinC makes me physically sick to my stomach.

In a perfect world, William Long would be celebrated with same the passion that George Tiller elicits from his supporters and detractors. In the real world, a controversial public figure like George Tiller will draw significantly more media attention every time.

The lack of a statement from Obama and the lag time in making a statement about the death of William Long is a clear insight to just exactly how he, and his Administration regards our military, and those who would desire harm to come to Americans. Perhaps that bow does not look so innocent now, and dittos to statements made in Turkey, giving much love to Abas and the PA, and totally flipping off Israel. Add to this the story today about the VOA being used by the Taliban, and a picture is being created for many Americans which makes us very uneasy when it comes to feeling protected from radical Islam or jihadists of the world.

You’ll need to subtract out the troll comments from the Tiller post to make it a fair comparison, which by my estimation leaves the Long post ahead by a mile.

It’s pretty tough to call a soldier a baby killer on one thread, and then defend a real baby killer on another, at the same time. This explains the dearth of trolling on the Long thread.

Someone has already commented on Twitter saying Tiller was a public figure, while the soldier was not. Granted, but how often are US soldiers murdered on US soil by a terror suspect?

I don’t think the reason one story has legs and the other one doesn’t has much to do with the issues of abortion versus the military. I think you’d agree that if a high profile military commander were assassinated that story would be covered much more, and if a random abortion clinic worker (or even doctor) were murdered it would be covered much less.

By the way, because Tiller was a public figure, his name is much more likely to be part of a story, and certainly more likely to be part of a headline. You might want to also point out that “recruiter shooting” and similar search terms also yield little more than 500 results.

For once it would be refreshing to see “Soldier shooting puts anti-war moonbats on defensive.”

Reminds me of a Doug Stanhope bit where a guy has two beers then gets into an auto accident with a senile 105 year old WW1 veteran who swears he saw Jesus beckoning him home, and the headline reads “Drunk Driver Kills War Hero”.

Why was George Tiller labeled an Abortion Doctor and security promptly ordered to Abortion clinics instead of being labeled a “Christian Gunned Down in a Place of Worship” and security ordered to protect all Churches?
