Aw: Doyle doesn’t get his 300% increase on background check fees for handguns

I feel for the guy. I mean, times are tough, and bribes must be hard to come by.

MADISON (WKOW) — Background-check fees on handgun purchases would increase less than Gov. Jim Doyle wanted, under a proposal approved by the Legislature’s budget committee.

The Joint Finance Committee voted 12-4 Tuesday to increase the fee from $8 to $13. Doyle had wanted to raise it to $30.

The Democratic-controlled Legislature must approve the $5 fee increase before it takes effect.

Republicans criticized it as unfairly taxing people who are legally buying guns.

It’s okay, Jimmy. How about you make yourself feel better by trying to tell us how this would have somehow prevented crime? According to the article, about 1.5% of all background checks aren’t approved. That means that 98.5% of the handguns bought in this state are bought by citizens within their second amendment rights to own one. Come on, let’s hear how benevolent you’re being by making it harder for law-abiding people to protect themselves. Is it just the recent open carry confirmation that’s bugging you? All those pesky little gun nuts obeying the law while you continue to fight all efforts for concealed carry?

Poor baby.

Blowback

This is interesting in the larger context of the “open-carry” movement in Wisconsin. Concealing a gun is illegal in Wisconsin, there is no concealed carry permit available. So folks have taken to strapping them on and have been arrested for “disorderly conduct”.
No convictions have occured.
Look for the government to make it harder to get guns and ammo any way they can. Raising fees and taxes on the weapons and ammo is what will happen.

Good to hear this was stopped. Doyle is driving WI down into the gutter with all of his taxes. Pretty soon Harley Davidson will leave.

Doyle is a piece of filth. It could only be worse if that nasty bint Kathleen Falk took his place.
