The best coverage of the issue and the details behind it is taking place at the American Papist Blog Notre Dame category that has followed this from day one and includes the list of 70 bishops that have publicly come out against it.

Since the media hates Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular its an easy call. As there are several protestant denominations who consider Catholicism more evil than Abortion. It allows one to divide.

I honestly hope that the university will reconsider the honorary degree. It is not deserved or earned. He has not even done as much as Dolly Parton who has earned her own degree because of her good works for the children in Tennessee.

When it comes to conservatives the MSM is always lazy & malicious. May God continue to bless the Fox News Channel.

I hope that after this fiasco is over Notre Dame will ask Rev. John Jenkins to step down. What was he thinking?

Well, they can, but I was going to an either/or kind of choice. I guess I should have left that third option open, huh?

[...] My latest post at The Greenroom delves into the woeful media coverage of the controversy at Notre Dame. My conclusion, such as it is, doesn’t look kindly on the media. So why focus on the speech and not the degree? Well, that’s where you start to see some grey creeping into things. I suppose some could call the speech invitation an honor but, let’s face it, it’s nothing compared to the honor of, well, an honorary degree. A speech is just a speech, but that degree carries a serious amount of cachet. Also, we can’t forget that Notre Dame is not merely a Catholic institution an educational institution as well. Having a diversity of speakers is not only desirable but required. [...]
