A Hallmark card from Notre Dame

It’s hard to believe this is for real. But Randall Terry has received what he accepts as the actual text from Barack Obama’s honorary Notre Dame degree.
“At the 164th Commencement The May Exercises The University of Notre Dame Confers the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, on the 44th president of the United States, whose historic election opened a new era of hope in a country long divided by its history of slavery and racism. A community organizer who honed his advocacy for the poor, the marginalized and the worker in the streets of Chicago, he now organizes a larger community, bringing to the world stage a renewed American dedication to diplomacy and dialogue with all nations and religions committed to human rights and the global common good. Through his willingness to engage with those who disagree with him and encourage people of faith to bring their beliefs to the public debate, he is inspiring this nation to heal its divisions of religion, culture, race and politics in the audacious hope for a brighter tomorrow.
On Barack H. Obama, Washington, District of Columbia”
Assuming that this is authentic, which is a stretch (no disrespect to Mr. Terry intended), we have a few questions:
Who wrote this trite nonsense?
Where has he/she been for the last four months?
Isn’t he/she embarrassed?
Please tell us the writer doesn’t work in the English Department.
This reads like a campaign brochure written by a third-grader, or a middle-school composition assignment that asks the student to incorporate “community organizer,” “hope,” “change,” and some form of the word “audacity” into one paragraph. Extra credit for including engage, heal, inspire, global, dialogue, marginalized, and workers.
Set the abortion issue aside for the moment. We beg to differ with a few aspects of the image put forth here:
Obama’s community organizing days weren’t filled with accomplishments.
His attempts at diplomacy and dialogue amount to criticizing America, dissing our allies, bowing to our enemies, and provoking their contempt. In return, they give him nothing that he asks for.
“Willingness to engage with those who disagree with him”? As in “We won”? This hasn’t happened. At all.
“Bringing people together” hasn’t happened either. Au contraire.
Especially cringe-worthy:
He “now organizes a larger community” and “. . . in the audacious hope for a brighter tomorrow.”
Notre Dame’s leadership has bought into this fraud and thrown their Catholic identity out the window. Perhaps they haven’t read any of the following Obama-isms on the sanctity of human life. He speaks (and votes) cold-bloodedly, of:
“temporarily alive” babies and “previable fetuses”
His actions since taking office have earned him the title of the Abortion President.
There are rumors that the Vatican will force ND to dis-invite him. Oremus.

Honestly, my guess is that a staffer in either the ND president’s office or in the dean of faculty’s office worked with someone from Obama’s camp to craft it.
Does anyone have the text they used when conferring the HDr on George W. Bush?
