Alan Keyes arrested at Notre Dame

And it should be added, as expected. Here’s the group’s press release. Haven’t found any pictures yet beyond the one in this YouTube video, but by all reports he appears to have gone without any sort of a scuffle.

Keyes and more than 20 others were taken into custody while protesting the school’s commencement invitation to President Obama. They were pushing strollers with dolls covered in fake blood.

Keyes and the others were handcuffed and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail, where they were held on 250 dollars bond.

For more on the Notre Dame controversy, here’s what Hot Air’s covered to date. It’ll probably get worse before it gets better, and Keyes’ stroller stunt will alienate more people than it brings into the Pro-Life cause. Better to have had, in my mind, a more traditional protest, steadily escalating in numbers until Obama’s speech. Keyes’ sideshow being what it is, it doesn’t change the fact that within the conservative Catholic community, Notre Dame’s taking it on the chin. Identity-wise, I have to wonder whether it was worth it.

In related news, CatholicVote.org came out with a second “Imagine the possibilities” advertisement today. The first one and more relevant video for the Notre Dame story — featuring Barack Obama and rejected for the Super Bowl by NBC — is below. The most recently released one — on adoption — is below that. It’s well done, as always.

Blowback

Very powerful ads. That first one…wow. I’ve seen it before, but it never loses its impact.

The second add would be more powerful if it were accurate.
Several people listed were raised by grandparents or other family members and not adopted. Some were adopted by step-parents and remained with a biological parent.

Misleading ads hurt the cause rather than helping.

Wow, the second ad was great. Regardless of the fact that they were not “legally” adopted, they were in fact raised by someone other than their biological parent and were not aborted and the world was better for it.
