Napolitano & DHS Order Border Patrol Agents NOT to Wear Protective Face Masks

posted at 3:43 am on May 1, 2009 by

This is unbelievable!

The Department of Homeland Security told border patrol agents they can not wear face masks to work for protection.

DHS Secretary Janet Napalitano is worried about the political aspects of how it may look to the general public!

Washington says the idea of seeing agents wear masks may spread more concern.

If the agents ignore the command they could be penalized:

From the video:

Janet Napolitano strikes again! Time to call for her resignation. Our Border patrol agents are NOT permitted to protect their health because DHS doesn’t like how it looks to the public and does not want commerce to be effected at the risk of American lives.

“We are now calling for Janet Napolitano’s immediate resignation!” William Gheen, President of ALIPAC.

Agents want to wear the N-95 respirator masks.

Let’s see. You could obey this command and increase your chances of infection and death, or you can ignore and risk some sort of sanction. What to do, what to do? Oh wait, I know: tell Napolitano to get bent.

It’s one thing to ask our brave military to put their life on the lines to secure our country’s safety, but to ask border patrol agents to risk their health senselessly for the sake of ‘image’ and political correctness is the height of stupidity, IMO.

This insanity has to stop, but how?

IGNORE HER, let get penalized, then sick the ACLU on them. Oh wait…

What’s next? No more body armour because it may offend someone?

Homeland Security has become a joke against the American people.

Get rid of it.

Again, I live here in El Paso, on the Mexican border, and the employees that work for the Border Patrol are really miffed. Even though this flu so far is fairly mild, most of the cases we are seeing are in Mexico. There are now several unconfirmed cases here in our city, and they are thought to probably have come across the Mexican bridge. Men and women in the Border Patrol check thousands of vehicles as well as foot traffic everyday, and must confront these people up close, so to tell them that they look “too menacing” in their face masks is unbelievable!

Why doesn’t Janet come out here and greet all these bridge crossers without a mask for eight hours a day?!! The woman hasn’t a clue!!

What if one of the agents gets sick, spreads it to his small child, and the child dies? Will the agent be able to sue Napoleon-itano for wrongful death?

And her concern is for which public, ours or Mexico’s? We understand and would want our Border Agents to be as protected as they can be. Heck, put them in bio-hazard suits with independent air supplies for all I care.

H1N1 came from Mexico, and what happens in Mexico, should stay in Mexico.
