Dem Congressman Admits: “Cap & Trade Is a Great Big Tax” (Video)

Uh-Oh… Democratic Congressman John Dingell admitted today at a Congressional hearing on global warming that cap and trade is a tax– a Great Big tax!

Al Gore is a partner with a firm that will make millions from cap and trade legislation.

Despite the crumbling case for global warming the Obama Administration plans on moving ahead with expensive cap and trade legislation that Obama admits will cause energy costs to skyrocket. The initiative will cost American families $700 to $1,400 dollars each year.

…Just the thing America needs during recession.

Oh, and cap and trade has failed in Europe.

More… Newt Gingrich added today that the democratic climate bill will punish Americans.

Newt’s speech to Congress today is posted at Liveleak here.

Rep. Dingell obviously knows that this bill would be the nail in the automotive industries coffin and that’s his state’s bread and butter. Glad to see he is actually considering his constituents. I have such a bad memory, someone on the radio was reading “predictions” from the 1970′s on what was going to become of our country if we didn’t do something about air pollution and then what we have accomplished today despite the doubling of the population. It was great. Considering how often the “experts” are wrong it is crazy to make dramatic changes in almost anything.

I watched a bit of the exchange between Newt Gingrich and this committee last night on CSPAN. I think he was correct in saying cap and trade was a tax to punish Americans into doing what the government wanted them to do. I was amazed that some Congressmen didn’t get it (Waxman particularly).

Second, last night’s Lou Dobbs had Lou reading a bunch of dire ecological / global warming predictions which made it sound like we were all headed to hell in a hand basket within the next decade. After he finished, he said when those quotes were given; the late to mid 1970′s IIRC. (I think it was 76 or 78, don’t recall exactly, sorry ) Pehaps its on Youtube.

Cap and Trade, Global Warming is all a sham designed to put people exactly where the purveyors of the sham want them, under their thumb.

Rule of thumb, 99 times out of 100, when someone says there is no time to think, you must act; that is exactly the right time to think. (battlefields excepted perhaps)

1 other point, according to CNN’s rolling news at the bottom of the screen last night, Spain which is doing what Al Gore said we should do, has an unemployment rate of 17%.

Now it seems to me that we shouldn’t emulate someone whose tactics cause twice as many people (per capita) to be unemployed as our policies do.

Rep. Dingell thinks cap and trade is a tax?

Well, duh…

Can’t remember who said it way back in the 70′s, “but as goes Michigan so goes America” in reference to the automotive industry. But…while Michigan may already be well past the critical point, the other foot sliding into the grave, there is truth to that old axiom.

And Dingell may finally be realizing this…and as is typical for a liberal…only well after the damage has been done.

We’re pretty much screwed. This and health care will destroy us.
