Will local tea partiers greet Obama when he comes to celebrate his First 100 Days?

It’d be a good idea…

The president, according to a well-placed source, will stop in the St. Louis area — perhaps Jefferson County — on April 29th to recognize the benchmark.

Though Obama stopped in Missouri many times as a candidate, this will be his first visit here as president.

What would the media reaction be if a tea party-sized crowd showed up to inform the President – this time, directly – that its idea of a responsible and efficient government isn’t saving $100 million here and there Monday, only to spend $100 billion on Tuesday. If Obama is going to make his pitch in St. Louis County, all the better; the St. Louis tea party was held in the city, which isn’t exactly GOP territory, and the County is both larger and more sympathetic to the tea party movement.

Bill Hennessy, a Town Hall alum, is the main tea party organizer here in St. Louis, and the guy to talk to if you want to get involved now or in the future. You reach him by email him by clicking here. I have an email in to him; if I hear anything, I’ll update this post accordingly.

Update: Or will the event be the 28th? And downtown? Per the local PBS affiliate:

KETC/Channel 9 and The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer are pleased to invite you to participate in a town hall meeting with PBS correspondent Gwen Ifill.  The topic is “The First 100 Days of the Obama Administration.” The event will be videotaped on the evening of Tuesday, April 28, and portions will be broadcast the following night on The NewsHour. [note: The full show will air on KETC Friday, May 1, at 7:00 p.m.]

Please let us know if you would like to attend. Audience participants will need to arrive at the KETC studios no later than 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28. The town hall meeting will last until shortly after 8:00 p.m.

Wouldn’t make it past the Secret Service.

I’ve never liked the Secret Service. Someone remind me again why the president has his own secret police force.
