Help me understand. If I’m a liberal — or progressive, whatever — I believe that:
For the first time in history, a terrorist captured on the battlefield has all the rights of an American citizen including the right to a trial in federal courts.

Elian Gonzales, however, had to be expelled from the country by Democrat Attorney General Janet Reno despite a pending court-ordered asylum hearing.

I‘m confused. Why do I feel like a ship passing Somalia?

It’s easy. Terrorists captured on the battlefield are trying to impose totalitarian control. Elian Gonzales was trying to escape totalitarian control. You do the math.

You’re confused because you haven’t taken a sip of your Koolaid yet. Go ahead, try some. You’ll feel better.

They should at least come up with some irony covering platitudes. Or better yet, maybe it would be fun to have a media that would point out the irony.
