The Republican National Convention will take place in Tampa, Florida this year, but Governor Rick Scott got a head start on conservative organizing with an appearance at CPAC this week. I interviewed Scott yesterday and asked how his plans to revitalize Florida’s economy have progressed, and Scott outlines the ways in which Florida’s economy has rebounded, thanks to lower taxes and less regulation after his election. The governor and I also discuss his decision to refuse federal funds for a high-speed rail line that Scott says was both unnecessary and too expensive, noting that Florida’s current high-speed rail solution requires 5/6ths of the costs to be subsidized.
