Oberstar: We need a “carbon regime”

Chip Cravaack and Jim Oberstar met for the first time in a debate this week in Minnesota’s 8th CD, which Oberstar has represented for 18 terms as its Representative. One might expect Oberstar to be used to accountability, but the one impression that Cravaack’s Top Ten Moments from the debate is that Oberstar isn’t terribly happy to be there. Small wonder, of course, since Oberstar could only get one of his constituents to donate to his campaign in the entire third quarter; Oberstar would be much happier in Washington DC, where he feels more comfortable. Here, for instance, Oberstar reacts to criticism of his support to change the definition of “navigable” in the Clean Water Act to apply to any body of water anywhere in the US in an attempt to impose federal control onto the Land of 10,000 Lakes:

Speaking of regimes, Oberstar also pined for the days of George H. W. Bush, when Republicans liked the imposition of “regimes” on American citizens, specifically a carbon regime as part of cap-and-trade:
