SHOCKING PHOTOS AND VIDEO HERE!!!!!

I used to get in debates during my blog hiatus with some of Goldstein’s commenters about whether it’s worth trying to engage the left. For all the antagonism between him and the five or six douchebags he’s always arguing with, Jeff adamantly believes that it is. He’s written posts about women’s issues, of all things, inviting feminist bloggers by name to respond to his points. Not in a nasty “got somethin’ to say?” way, either. Just trying to start dialogue.

As I’ve told him each and every time he’s done it: he’s nuts. And the manufactured outrage over this impossibly stupid non-story is Exhibit A1 on that account.

It’s not worth responding to at length because it’s identity politics root and branch. I can’t call it innocent because I can’t know what it’s like to be a woman when a man squeezes your shoulders, even though I’ve had male and female friends do it to me, innocently and affectionately, plenty of times. Michelle can’t call it innocent even though she does know what it’s like to be a woman when a man squeezes your shoulders because she’s a right-wing race and gender traitor who would only be doing what she normally does, i.e., apologizing for The Man. Angela Merkel can’t call it innocent even though it was her own shoulders that were squeezed because she’s basically a right-wing nut too and besides she needs to maintain good relations with the U.S., and so her “voice” has effectively been silenced. And of course Bush can’t call it innocent because he’s Hitler, except way more priapic.

So what is there to talk about?

For what it’s worth, i.e., nothing, Bush and Merkel are famously friendly with each other. Fred Barnes wrote a piece about it yesterday for the Weekly Standard. Bild — the same paper that published the SHOCKING PHOTOS AND VIDEO — joked last week before the G8 about their chemistry and referred to Merkel as Bush’s girlfriend. They get along so well, in fact, that Merkel usurped Tony Blair as Bush lapdog numero uno in moron cartoonist Steve Bell’s latest excrescence for the Guardian.

Does any of it matter? Might it not suggest that Bush was merely being familiar with someone with whom he is, in fact, familiar? Of course not. Show this post to a leftist and, I guarantee you, all they’ll do is accuse me of not believing that men are capable of sexually harassing their women friends.

Which is untrue, by the way. I do believe it. Emphatically.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t link Goldstein in a post he helped inspire, so here he is, eschewing the dialogue that can never be in favor of a little of the old bareknuckle.

Update: More lefty reaction at Outside the Beltway, including a theory that the video proves Bush is off the wagon.

Update: One of the commenters at HuffPo wants to start a new “Sorry Everybody” page to apologize for Bush’s “groping.”

Just shows George is a real person and has the same traits that all the rest of us do.
Nice to see somebody joke around.

I wish you would call liberals douchebags more. I have my own fair share of people who just want to sling insults at me over some mundane action some conservative took, or the fact I used a word they found offensive (”I would appreciate if you wouldn’t use such hostile language…you racist, fascist, homophobe that wants to set back the womans movement 50 years,” etc). There is no such thing as dialogue with most of these people. It’s non-issues, ad hominem attacks, and eventual implosion.

Oh…and shit…just so liberals reading this can attack me for being “stoopid”.

StoutRepublican on July 18, 2006 at 3:59 PM

Nary a word from the left about what is going on in the middle east and THIS gets their attention?

rshurbet on July 18, 2006 at 3:59 PM

That wasn’t a squeeze. It was a massage.

When I lived in L.A., some guy with a thick Cockney accent was drinking at the bar counter next to me. Well, he asked me about where he could get a massage. I told him about a place on La Cienega Blvd. so he told me he was going to check it out and left. A couple of hours later the same Cockney guy returns to the bar and his was ANGRY so I asked him what he was so mad about.

“I just got the best bloody massage of me life.”

“So why are you so angry?” I repled.

“Who ever ‘eard of going to a massage parlor just for a massage!?”

Well you all know Clinton would have “hit it” or at least funted her on the back of the neck.

Methinks had Cindy Sheehan asked for a massage, while camping out in Crawford, she’d be a happier person now. ;->

Bush: Love-attacks on Merkel!

US-President storms onto our chancellor

This political love ist in the true sense of the word touching!

The US-President George W. Bush at the G-8 summit in St. Petersburg.

From behind he shrewdly creeps up on chancellor Angela Merkel [(CDU) this means conservative party], surprises her with a Blitz-massage (lightening-massage - a quickie so to speak :).

How the chancellor reacted to these “love-attacks” from Bush, you can see here (link to her reaction)… /translation over

How these idiots can believe for 2 seconds that Mr. Bush could possibly be after Ms. Merkel with two of the classiest dames in his life, his wife and Ms. Rice (nothing implied here, except a very close friendship and sharing of minds), surpasses Freudian imagination. This from Europeans!

In the late 90s, I asked Italian colleagues once, in a medical devices company, if they have ’sexual harrassment in Italy’. They responded ‘oh, yes, we turn men in to HR when they don’t harrass us’.

We, the conservatives and most independents, are so blessed in the opposition. It is again ‘tolerance’ and ‘progressiveness’ we deal with; and this puerile nothingness in such serious times; and not to forget the Clinton years… /sarcasm off

Man, this whole business just infantilizes women. And I don’t mean what Bush did. I mean the reaction to it. Here’s Merkel, who’s the friggin’ leader of a semi-important western nation. If she thinks his behavior’s inappropriate, can’t she tell him? No, of course not. There’s a difference in power, blah blah blah. In other words, women are helpless, weak little things, right? What a victory for modern feminism.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on July 18, 2006 at 6:06 PM

Good point.

Allahpundit on July 18, 2006 at 6:10 PM

Men are batterers, women are victims. All of them. Period.

There is no other possibility. So sayeth the progressive left.

BECAUSE OF THE PATRIARCHY!!!!!

How much are poor abused American citizens supposed to endure from this moronic cheerleader? At least Bill Clinton closed the door
By: hellenhat on July 18, 2006 at 05:04pm

Ah yes, any fool can see that this is exactly the same as playing hide the cigar with an intern in the oval office!

Ann on July 18, 2006 at 6:23 PM

How much are poor abused American citizens supposed to endure from this moronic cheerleader? At least Bill Clinton closed the door

…and Mr. Bush kept his zipper closed.

Entelechy on July 18, 2006 at 7:15 PM

Bush gets his hands on everyone. He works a crowd with his hands. His entrance into the State of the Union address, on camera, is a hands everywhere regardless of party event.

Strange they just now noticed.

His recent talking with a mouth full of food video got a lot of play too. I am certain that video was altered to amplify the chewing sounds.

Meanwhile, Israel is invading Lebanon and Mexicans are invading the US. Iran and NK are playing chicken with nukes and terror cells are falling from the ceilings all over the West.

I just wish Bush would keep his paws off Vicente Fox. Senorito Fox bats his eyelashes and Bush builds another gateway to the North country.

ANGELA MERKEL: Experiencing groping pains

Dr. Charles G. Waugh on July 18, 2006 at 8:22 PM

Nary a word from the left about what is going on in the middle east

I’m not saying we have to agree with what the left is saying about the middle east, but are you freaking kidding me? They won’t shut up about it! Just today, they’re saying that these pictures of Israeli children decorating rockets headed for Lebanon are of some sort of moral equivalence with Palestinian children participating in pro-Hamas demonstrations!

If there’s one thing the Left isn’t, it’s silent. Ever. Isn’t that the point “barking moonbats”?

sponginghouse on July 18, 2006 at 9:00 PM

She was looking at him, saw him coming, and had started her gesture–which looked like “darn it” to me, perhaps in response to some “gotcha” remark–before he touched her.

That’s about as much as I could gather from two seconds of pantomime without dialogue or context. And Atilla–right the hell on.

Anwyn on July 18, 2006 at 9:03 PM

I’d love to hear what Chancellor Merkel has to say.

If that was harrassment, I’m going to the slammer!

mikeyboss on July 18, 2006 at 9:15 PM

So again we have liberals redefining what sex is, or are they outraged by the fact that a man can touch a woman without getting blasted as a womanizer? Maybe they are mad that no one wants to touch Hitlary? From what I’ve read, it appears to me that the femi-nazis have decided that any intaraction between the sexes is RAPE, unless performed by Cigarman. Blame that on the fact that they have a membership comprised of over 50% lesbians.

Liberals do have issues which cause them to seek sex therapists, but the President isn’t bothered by such nonsense. Thankfully.

DannoJyd on July 19, 2006 at 12:08 AM

Oh my God….this one just amazes me. These poor, sad, silly libs. How screwed up do you have to be to see this as sexual harrassement? Could these idiots be any more insignificant? I can’t take it…..I may start drinking.

chetthepet on July 19, 2006 at 11:17 AM

It’s just a little Texas Hold ‘em.
This is my translation of the captions. The tone of the comments appears to me like the German writer thought the whole thing was charming and cute.

1. Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel is speaking directly with of Italy Prime Minister Romano Prodi - when George W. Bush comes into the hall…
2. Merkel talking to her neighbor, does not notice Bush approaching from the back…
3. … suddenly the US-president lays both hands on Merkels shoulders…
4. … and his Texas one second massage begins…
5. … the chancellor winces, startled, brings up her hands, does not know who has put them there from the back…
6. … and with air of innocence the president heads, after the joke, for his place at the conference table. Merkel takes the astonishing dear attack with humor, smiles

What’s the problem? It’s Cowboy Diplomacy.

bobbythehon on July 19, 2006 at 3:33 PM

I never met a woman that would turn down a good Texas shoulder massage!
