Reporter goes to La Raza/MeCHA Junior High. Reporter gets assaulted, has tape stolen.
The reporter, Sandy Wells, was not hurt, according to station spokesman Steve Sheldon.
Wells was leaving the campus of Academia Semillas Del Pueblo, 4736 Huntington Drive, after interviewing the principal when a car came around the corner, jumped the curb and the driver tried to run him down, Sheldon said.
Wells managed to dodge the car, but the driver, a man who appeared to be in his mid-20s, got out and tackled him, taking away his tape recorder, he said.
Police are looking into it, and the LA school system says it will comment sometime today.
The real question is, when will Linda Foley weigh in on this deliberate targeting of a journalist?
Update (Allahpundit): World Net Daily has more details.
Wells, equipped with a KABC mic and recorder, said that when he inquired at the school’s office about interviewing Aguilar, he was told the principal was not in and did not want to talk.
The reporter asked the four or five black-garbed guards stationed outside for permission to interview parents as they arrived at the school with their children but was denied.
Then, according to Wells, the lady at the front desk came running out, angry, and a Dodge Magnum abruptly pulled up on the sidewalk just short of the reporter.
A large Hispanic man with a shaved head, about 25, leaped out of the vehicle and chased Wells down the street, tackled him and demanded the tape.
Wells, uninjured, said he turned over the tape, which had only ambient sound.
The guards offered no help, the reporter noted.
As Wells drove away, he noticed he was being tailed by a black SUV. The reporter called into McIntyre’s show and was put on the air, hoping the exposure would prompt his pursuer to back off. The SUV eventually pulled away.
Update: KABC radio host Doug McIntyre points to this interview with Marcos Aguilar, principal of Academia Semillas:
TCLA: Finally, what do you see as the legacy of the Brown decision?
MA: If Brown was just about letting Black people into a White school, well we don’t care about that anymore. We don’t necessarily want to go to White schools. What we want to do is teach ourselves, teach our children the way we have of teaching. We don’t want to drink from a White water fountain, we have our own wells and our natural reservoirs and our way of collecting rain in our aqueducts. We don’t need a White water fountain. So the whole issue of segregation and the whole issue of the Civil Rights Movement is all within the box of White culture and White supremacy. We should not still be fighting for what they have. We are not interested in what they have because we have so much more and because the world is so much larger. And ultimately the White way, the American way, the neo liberal, capitalist way of life will eventually lead to our own destruction.
Update: According to an article at UCLA Profs, Aguilar was an identity-politics crank as far back as his undergrad days, when he participated in a hunger strike to pressure UCLA into creating a Chicano Studies department and went by his “Aztec name” of “Huitzilixtlitiu.”
Update (Allahpundit): Kim Priestap of Wizbang notes the school’s webpage has been removed.
Update (Allahpundit): The webpage is back and adorned with a shiny new press release. Not a word about the alleged attack on the reporter from KABC, but they do note proudly that they’re teaching their students Nahuatl. Which is good; it’ll really help them assimilate.
Note the literally meaningless slogan with which the press release ends.
Update (Allahpundit): Our affiliate, Expose the Left, has video of KABC reporter Sandy Wells’s appearance tonight on the O’Reilly Factor.

Someone tell Eason Jordan! This’ll be all over the next Davos.

Marcos Aguilar is racism at its peak!!!!
Under the revolvling cliche “It’s whitey’s fault” Aguilar is allowed to recruit and brainwash his ways of hate mongering.
Passing all blame for his own faults and evil ways on to our aptly named White Culture.
The vail has been lifted from our eyes.
This reverse racism must stop.

Didn’t they learn from the May Day rallies? If they get violent and/or anti-American, they’ll lose what little public support they have.
dman on June 1, 2006 at 3:41 PM
I always find it amazing that socialists such as these bury their true intentions beneath comments such as “We don’t want what White people have”, then turn around and take all the tax money they can get from those same “white people”.
BS is BS, regardless of color. This is just more tax-subsidized BS.
Think of it this way: Since lessons are all in Spanish, Mexican parents sending their kids to this school are guaranteeing their kids, upon graduation, lifelong careers mowing lawns or painting houses. Of course, they can always celebrate Cinque de Mayo in the proper language…

And WE’RE the bigots? Are you kidding me? Seperatist agendas paid for by the taxpayers….yep, that sounds just about what you should find in the Socialist Republic of California.

clyde-
If only your prediction was as dire as it could get…
The idea with MeCHA and La Raza involved is (I am sure), to prepare the next generation for when immigrants take over our southern border states. When would you not need to learn English? When the prevalent language spoken around you is Spanish. Once the Reconquista is successful, you won’t need to continue the ‘I care about America’ ruse…
The President pissed me off yet again today when he said that we shouldn’t avoid doing something because it’s hard. Of course, he was referring to PASSING the Senate’s illegal immigration bill; I was talking about deporting the 11+ million illegals here. Giving them citizenship is EASY for the government; it’s the taxpayers and American society that will pay. Being hardcore is ‘mean’ and difficult. Just when I think he can’t say another think to reinforce how out of touch and supercilious he is, he proves me wrong.
Aguilar’s delusions remind me of Saddam, who thought he was Saladin reincarnated.
linlithgow on June 1, 2006 at 4:01 PM
Saladin liked to cut people’s heads off too.
Wonder if he liked burritos.
clyde on June 1, 2006 at 4:18 PM
Ugh, this makes me sick. It’s like when I heard about the local ag workers not coming to work May 1st because the illegals in the “little Mexico” towns were going around threatening everyone that there would be consequences if they did.

I believe that this state of affairs has existed for many years, especially in Los Angeles. The difference is now that the tip of the iceberg is coming to light.
I also beleive that many, especially in the Los Angeles area, are actively participating in whatever way they can to facilitate “Aztlan” and are basically engaging in acts of treason against the United States. If their color was white they would prosecuted immediately, but being brown that conduct is not only tolerated but by many, but in California it is encouraged.
When when the Federal Government wake up and apply the same standards to ALL regardless of color? When will organizations that actively encouraging treason against the United States be held to the same standards that white people are?

psstt… the word “treason” has apparently been purged from the US dictionary by the progressive elites and politically correct apologists. So has “traitor” “sedition” and all forms of those words.
Since the MSM won’t even utter the words or admit they exist, with definitions and all, there is no way to protect against them.
NTWR on June 1, 2006 at 6:08 PM
If this school is so into all things Mexican, why don’t they just go back to Mexico?
calnevari on June 1, 2006 at 7:47 PM
NTWR:
“Treason doth never prosper, what’s the reason?
For if it prosper, none dare call it Treason.”
Sir John Harrington (1561-1612)
John Stormer applied this in his 1964 book. It still applies today.

I’m glad to see O’Reilly reported this story tonight and is promising to follow up next week.
speed647 on June 1, 2006 at 8:40 PM
and no one is reporting it outside the conservatives and blogs
you’d think by now, 9months since i defected, i’d be used to this but……..no i’m not

I have re-written this several times. This whole thing is heartbreaking. In the Navy, the Mexicans I knew were great guys. Some of them worked for me and they worked like demons. Some were my friends and none were my enemy.
The Communists behind this MEChA BULLSH1T are driving a wedge through the Mexican American community, and setting up a false white/brown division as well. We are all being played by these gangsters. If you wonder why this political program is so sophisticated for a new movement; it’s not new. It’s called COMINTERN, and it’s back.
Mexicans–they’re the new Palestinians. And the communists will fight this battle to the last Mexican. If you REALLY want to help solve this problem, build your friendships with those Mexicans you know–help keep them on this side. They’re your neighbors and your co-workers, and probably they don’t much care for illegals.
The worst thing we can do is stop talking between Americans, especially between easily divided racial/cultural groups. Imagine if the American Civil War had been influenced by a powerful and sophisticated third party whose only interest was the destruction of America. This is what the International Communists have in mind, and the Mexico issue is only one of their tools–but right now, it’s the right one to use.
haakondahl on June 2, 2006 at 10:21 AM
We all know Americans of Mexican descent who are wonderful citizens. The “Mexican community”, like similar groups, is not monolithic. Members must decide whether they are Americans first or Mexicans first. We should embrace the Americans among them, and deport the Mexicans.
Dual citizenship exacerbates the situtation. Dual citizenship is trying to serve two masters - it should be eliminated. This applies to ALL dual citizenship, not just Mexico.
dman on June 2, 2006 at 11:07 AM
I really can’t understand why the Mexicans are so enamored with Mexico. If it is so great, why are Mexicans running out like rats off a sinking ship? As far as I can tell, their list of failures far outweighs their list of accomplishments. If they think it’s worth saving, why don’t thy have an exodus from here and go clean it up. I don’t invent the facts, or ignore them either. It seems they choose to do both.
Shmo on June 2, 2006 at 3:14 PM
The school should be shut down immediately and its administration investigated. If you live within the LA school system and aren’t demanding this, then you are a part of the problem.

The attack on Sandy Wells was not only vicious but STUPID! Is this in their playbook? Make a martyr out of a reporter? Dumb move -
BeeCharmer on June 2, 2006 at 8:25 PM
Too many of these “charter” schools are just fronts for making money by those people that run them. There simply is not enough oversight of them, yet we the taxpayers are supporting them.
