Finally: The Romney/Holyfield fight promo

posted at 6:41 pm on May 13, 2015 by Allahpundit

To cleanse the palate, via the IJR, Romney’s more likable here in two minutes than he was in 15 months of stage-managed stumping during Campaign 2012. You wouldn’t vote for this man again? You’d vote for this man again.

Ann Coulter hasn’t given up hope yet. Neither have I. Especially after reading this:

Representatives of some 40 conservative groups plan to meet Wednesday at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in the Washington suburb of McLean, Virginia, where they will air their fears of having the nomination process hijacked by establishment Republicans and wrestle over different strategies to turn the primaries and caucuses to their advantage…

[One] idea offered by former Missouri GOP chairman Ed Martin is fresh to the quadrennial confab of conservatives. He wants to launch a concerted effort to persuade every GOP candidate to stay into the race until the end.

The goal would get each of the dozen or more expected GOP candidates to hold onto their delegates and to finish their campaigns at the Republican nominating convention in Cleveland in summer 2016, increasing the chance for a brokered deal for the nomination.

Strange things can happen at a brokered convention. Strange, wonderful things.

Exit question: This fight can’t possibly be duller than Mayweather/Pacquiao, can it?

A joke.

This whole thing seems silly and embarrassing.

Will Dancing with the Stars be next?

bluegill on May 13, 2015 at 6:47 PM

You’d vote for this man again.

Gun to my head, Romney or Hillary, I’ll take the bullet.

2012 was my first time voting, and it was a desperation vote. Not again.

Aizen on May 13, 2015 at 6:48 PM

Hopefully charityvision won’t have to perform surgery on Romney after the fight.

I would vote for him again. Even with RomneyCare. I don`t doubt his love for this country. I know Hillary does not, at least, not as we love it.

Dumb.

If Romney truly loved his country, he’d step aside for sure and let someone else run.

I hate the “I love my country so much I think it only deserves me as POTUS!” mindset.

I`m sorry, I just don`t care an evil vibe from him like you do. But I don`t think he`s in for 2016 and he wouldn`t get close to the nomination so relax. This is just for fun and charity.

ThePrez on May 13, 2015 at 6:56 PM

Didn’t say the man was evil, but like most politicians (OK, nearly all of them) Romney is just too self-absorbed and thinks a certain person (he himself) is above the advancement of a particular set of ideals. He lost once, I just can’t understand the appeal of another Romney run — joke or not — even against Hillary.

Aizen on May 13, 2015 at 6:59 PM

Blech. Reminding us how terrible the GOP fields were in 2008 and 2012 is nausea inducing, not palate cleansing.

So… does the loser fight Mayweather or Pacquiao?

Stoic Patriot on May 13, 2015 at 7:05 PM

What is this, the Daily Kos? Romney is a good man doing something for charity. Put down your pitchforks.

Jack_Burton on May 13, 2015 at 7:06 PM

Vote for him again? Nope. I wouldn’t.

The way he is shown training for this “fight” is the same way he “fought” against Obama.

Point of information:

If we’re talking about the Presidency, then he lost twice. Once to The Maverick, and once to The One.

Ann Coulter hasn’t given up hope yet.

Mitt Romney not only the most articulate but the conservative candidate we ever had.

Ann there’s a room at Bellevue just waiting for you to check in.

RickB on May 13, 2015 at 7:11 PM

“It’s not that I’m that rigid. I’m sick for fighting for losing causes,” Coulter said. “If it’s not Scott Walker or Mitt Romney, I think we lose and welcome President Hillary [Clinton].”

Seriously, Ann? If you’re sick of losing causes, has it ever dawned on you just what you were fighting for in 2012?

Stoic Patriot on May 13, 2015 at 7:19 PM

He still comes across as stiff. He was wearing a tie even while working out.

He should have put on some sweats and been jumping over park benches with kids chasing him, culminating with a sprint up a flight of cement steps.

Jack_Burton on May 13, 2015 at 7:25 PM

Romney is letting himself be depicted as a caricature.

I would respect him more if he had, since the election, been out there week after week speaking out against illegal alien amnesty. But Romney has been slobbering over every pro-amnesty sell-out out he can find (from Marco Rubio to Chris Christie), while dissing conservatives like Ted Cruz.

Romney’s previous hard-line stance against amnesty appears to have been one big lie.

My prediction: Mittens KOs Evander 30 seconds into the 1st round… Then he’ll go get a tattoo on his face.

“It’s not that I’m that rigid. I’m sick for fighting for losing causes,” Coulter said. “If it’s not Scott Walker or Mitt Romney, I think we lose and welcome President Hillary [Clinton].”

Flip-flopping, slippery, pro-amnesty Scott Walker is Mitt Romney 2.0 … and with even less charisma. Ann Coulter is full of it, just as she was when she was pushing Chris Christie for president.

You might want to be careful about deriding others for their particular take on what is a “losing cause.”

After all, you appear to be the only person at HA who is so enamored with Mike Huckabee that you actually believe he should be POTUS.

Huckabee makes an entertaining TV host, but otherwise couldn’t be more of a losing cause.

Huckabee, Santorum, Fiorina, Paul, poodle-head Paul, Bush, Rubio, Carson, Kasich, Trump, Christie, Linseed.

Thank You AP!
It’s been awhile……..too long without Mitt……
And The ABRs needed some release as they have to look at this current clownfest of inexperienced DC – R candidates -daily – Knowing that they have to ascribe to their weakness.
Mitt- Still the only Man that has been able to thrash the Marxist- Raised Liar occupying the WH. If Mitt can open up that same can of Oct. 3rd 2012 whoop A$$—-Holyfield is in big trouble.
.
Of course Idiot America would still vote for Holyfield over Mitt if there was an election.

Of course, between Ann Coulter and myself, only one is concentrated on “electability” as the primary motivating factor, while the other is focused on principle, regardless of whether it wins or loses. Makes it kinda an apples to oranges comparison you’ve got there.

Stoic Patriot on May 14, 2015 at 5:26 PM

Well, the fight happened. Mitt “knocked” Holyfield down, then threw in the white towel later on. The best part, apparently, was the after fight speech where he savaged the Democrats. Stuff like how he quit so he wouldn’t take too many blows to the head–he didn’t want to be a Democrat. Proclaimed his willingness to take on any of Harry Reid’s exercise machines. And so forth.
