Video: The media would like you to know the Iran deal is “historic”

posted at 6:01 pm on April 3, 2015 by Mary Katharine Ham

Shot:

The deal Obama outlined yesterday won’t stop more wars from erupting in the Middle East; it will provide a cash avalanche for Iran to greatly expand its proxy wars in the Middle East, targeting Israel, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. You could smell the aroma from Obama’s burning straw man from Washington to Tel Aviv.

And as the Post’s editors note, it’s not going to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, either. All this does is delay it until everything else falls into place for Iran, which the extra cash will help make a reality too — and that’s if they comply with the deal, which their track record strongly suggests is a sucker bet.

Janet Eilperin and Greg Jaffe write that “this was not a ‘Mission Accomplished’ moment,” but it’s much more so than the one more popularly associated with George W. Bush. To quote Winston Churchill under remarkably similar circumstances after Munich: We have suffered an unmitigated defeat. And just like in 1938, our national leader is painting it as a victory over the warmongers without any recognition that he’s just set loose the real warmongers, and what follows will be disaster and ignominy.

Chaser, in which the media is right on them talking points.

This has the potential, as one commentator put it, “of changing the way global gravity works.” That’s how great this deal is. Does he mean literally?

I suppose there’s “historic” good and “historic” bad. As Ed notes, in the shot above, it could very well be “historic” but not for the reasons Obama and his ever-willing media cheerleaders suggest.

And, by the way, the deal, as bad as it is, isn’t even a deal. It’s a framework for a coming deal. We even caved on the definition of the word “deal” to announce a historic deal had been struck. But the Obama administration is counting on the fact that anywhere west of Tel Aviv, all anyone will hear is “historic,” and they’re probably right. Just like all they heard the rest of the week about Indiana was “bigot.” It’s nothing if not an enlightened national conversation over which the greatest orator and thinker of our time presides.

By blowing up the earth to smithereens via nuclear bombs?

Can a nuclear bomb affect gravity?

Video: The media would like you to know the Iran deal is “historic”

So was Munich.

And the French liked that deal. This one, not so much.

What’s to like? The Iranians get to continue doing what they are doing — the things we know about, that is — and the get the sanctions lifted.

Meanwhile the Iranians are at most a year away from having what they need to make a bomb. And that’s only the part we know of and they admit to. Whatever happened to all that skepticism about the reliability of our intelligence estimates the lefties developed during the Bush II years?

Also, apparently every nation in the region (and the world) can now get to within a year of making a nuke, with our blessing.

Oh, yeah. Forgot the ‘good’ part. The original ‘Death To America’ crowd promises to let the ‘Great Satan’ have the UN monitor something or other sometime or other, or else. Or else we’ll try to get the band back together to put the same old sanctions back in place, again.

‘Historic’ indeed. It may become even more historic than Munich. ‘Peace In Our Time, Redux’.

Obama is the Charles Manson of Presidents and his administration is the Manson Family of administrations. Obama is America’s first Deranged President and even any minimal self-reflection is entirely impossible to him.

portlandon on April 3, 2015 at 6:24 PM

Obama has his beliefs and actions and it is a perfectly definite set, there is no vagueness about it. He commands that the Jew and Christian bow to the Muslim at every turn they do him hurt or threaten him and his children with death. Word it as softly as you please, the spirit of Obama is the spirit of the evil shadowed specter of the Beast of Austria insidiously billowing in and building and building to ever more horrific heights. The moment there is a question about a boundary line or a building or some Muslim somewhere complaining about any matter, see Obama rise, and see him spit at the Jew and the Christian from the corner of his twisted mouth. The spirit of Obama being in its nature narcissistic and selfish — it is in the man’s line, it comes natural to him — he can fully live up to all of the teachings of Jeremiah Wright and even of Mahmoud Ahmadineja and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi; for the spirit of Judaism and of Christianity, and indeed of decency itself, are entirely impossible to him.

To quote Winston Churchill under remarkably similar circumstances after Munich:

“You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor and you will have war.”

[O]ur loyal, brave people … should know the truth. … they should know that we have sustained a defeat without a war, … and that the terrible words have for the time being been pronounced against the Western democracies; ‘Thou art weighed in the balance and found wanting.’ And do not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proferred to us year by year unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time.

Iran has demanded they have the right to develop their nuclear bomb making capacity to the point they have already. A point which Comrade O admits brings them to within a year of making a nuke.

And as part of this agreement the Iranians promise they will move no closer.

As part of the Munich agreement Adolph promised he would make no further territorial claims and demands.

About six months later he occupied the rest of Czechoslovakia. Great Britain and France did nothing.

Six months after that he invaded Poland.

Would even Reagan be able to fix the mess Obama has created? Even if somehow our economy can turn around, King Putt has thrown the world into chaos and set the foundation for future wars. I see a very dark future coming.

Xanatos90 on April 3, 2015 at 6:38 PM

It isn’t just the bomb, a point that has been made on other blogs. It is also the freeing of the Iranian economy, the lifting of sanctions, and the money Iran can use to continue their support for all the trouble makers in the middle east.

Iran’s proxy war in Yemen, and soon to be Saudi Arabia is every bit as much a threat as Iran building a bomb in three months, a year, ten years.

If Obama agrees to lift economic sanctions, Iran might not need the bomb if they can get what they want with conventional forces and irregular militias.

Joseph OHenry on April 3, 2015 at 6:38 PM

Hey, Comrade O. How come you trust people who hang Jews gays for being Jews gay?

Oh wait, they’d kill Jews for being Jews, too.

On the other hand, the Nazis were pretty tolerant of gays. At least early on. One of Adolph’s best buddies was gay. Of course, he eventually shot him. But not for being gay.

The Nazis were also fairly tolerant of different religions, for the most part. As long as the religious leaders didn’t defy their power. The Iranian regime, not so much.

This is why Lt. Gen. Walt liked myself and our unit.

1. Set up people who were kicked out of Iran and some Kurds on the Iraq / Iran border.
They with our secret money pay 1/2 of a bounty on leaders of the Republican Guards of Iran , furnish arms, tech, NSA spook stuff
to disrupt phones, radio, electric distribution .
Make it an easy target for the I S I S terrorist.
Chase the ISI S killers into Iran and block them getting out.
Any we capture we arm and insert them deep in Iran with stuff to make it easy to go on rampages.

2. Fly stealth micro wave generator planes over high tech centers random. Use Kurdish or Iranians to fly the missions pay them big time. Have a destruct button we can use or the pilot can use.

3. Sneer other units into Irans ports to mine ships and harbors.

4. Deny every bit of it.

5. Tell the mullahs we trust then and want them to enter the family of nations.
Lie our ass’s off/ out lie them.

6. WIN

They are light years ahead in the propaganda wars, techniques, and applications.

They’ve long understood the power of language and crowd manipulation. This latest Iran “deal” is a perfect application of “astro-turfing” now being applied to international national security applications.

Hey, some of the generally reliable lefties aren’t on board with this one.

http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2015/feb/25/michael-morell/odd-reality-irans-centrifuges-enough-bomb-not-powe/

If an agreement limits Iran to about 9,000 centrifuges, that would be sufficient to produce enough bomb-grade material but would leave Iran well short of the capacity to generate fuel to power nuclear power plants.

The deal as reported has no value for producing electricity, and only has value for making bombs… per Politifact.

It’s certainly true based on how centrifuges work, how uranium is processed, and… you know, REALITY.

But I’m still surprised Politifact didn’t try to get that to “undecided” or “half true” or “sure it’s true but we don’t like it so we’re calling it false”.

They’re generally more reliable for lying about what the facts are to support the left when checking facts.

CW on April 3, 2015 at 9:03 PM

Nope, and the Americans they’re holding hostage are still hostages and not part of the deal. Not even mentioned.

We’re basically asking for them to let Russia sell/give them uranium, and check that they aren’t making nuke ICBMs to attack Israel and the US…

Oh and trusting Putin not to want us destroyed by proxy.

What could go wrong?

hardrock230 on April 4, 2015 at 12:24 AM

Timing is everything. At least the deal was not struck on Apil 1st, but the fools are out in force letting us know that there will only ever be 1 April 3rd 2015, the day Obama pretended to have agreed something nuclear with Iran. He’ll shake hands on it on June 30th in Tehran because the flight is already booked and it seems a shame to change it now.

Iran is agreeing to handshakes and photos. The US is agreeing to help Iran nuke up. I understand the president’s personal advisor, B Bergdahl, will be flying with him for this most historic of historical handshakes between the historically (partially) black US president and the historically moderate mullahs of Tehran.

CNN will be preparing for historically low ratings as they cover this historical event as it historically unfolds in the pre-historic capital of Islamic repression.

virgo on April 4, 2015 at 1:00 AM

Obama wishes he could have a tenth the amount of historic impact (or historic respect) that W had.

(and really, that’s not saying much.)

Obama wants to liken this to ye olde SALT treaties from the 80s as two massive world powers played a game of nuclear chicken with each other.

It’s not.

Obama WISHES he were Chamberlain making a peace deal with Hitler as that would secure him a place in history.

It’s not.

He and John Kerry are the equivalents of the suckers at a car dealership parading the fact that after serious negotiations they got the new car at $100 off list price with 10% off the extended warranty and got the dealer to throw in free rust proofing.

Let us not forget in all this reality distortion field generation going on that –
a> no agreement has actually been reached, let alone SIGNED. Just an agreement about what topics the agreement will deal with. (And Iran has already denied all of those!)

b> sanctions haven’t stopped.

c> Iran continues full speed ahead on their nuclear weapons research even while the negotiations drag on.

Tl;DR – How “historic” is this? It’s not.

For any future historians perusing this, the fact of the matter is that Obama was both profoundly incompetent and profoundly malignant.

The only thing that’s historic is the level of hype.

I like how Maddow put it, “Historic deal even though it’s not done yet.”

And whoever the clown was talking about a “masterful chess player”, has he been watching the game at all? The rest of the board is in flames!

Someone needs to archive all of these clips, so we can have fun with them in a month or two. When Iran’s Lucy pulls the football away from our Charlie Brown president.

The most historic deal that never happened.

But now, regardless of what actually goes down, the media will stick to it’s original story. Explaining to the masses how this crap sandwich is actually made with gourmet crap.
