Video: “Why we need transgender pronouns”

posted at 5:21 pm on March 20, 2015 by Allahpundit

To cleanse the palate. Every identity movement engages the majority in two phases. First comes “we’re just like you,” which minimizes differences to gain mainstream acceptance, and once that acceptance has been gained, phase two — “we’re different and it’s time you made adjustments for that” — begins. Judging from this BuzzFeed clip and the fact that colleges are now abandoning LGBT theme housing for, um, LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM housing, I’d say we’re firmly in phase two of “trans” awareness, at least among the mainstream left.

What about the other 75 percent of the country, though? Let me use this opportunity to steal Ace’s idea and insist that Hillary Clinton, as the future national standard bearer of progressivism (giggle), tell us at the first available opportunity how many different genders she thinks there are.

[M]ost Democrats are not batsh*t crazy Gender Warriors who believe the answer is three or seven or 3 pi some number greater than 2. Most Democrats, and all independents, think the answer is “2,” and would think anyone thinking the answer is anything but 2 is a crazyperson.

But the incredibly militant sexual left is insistent that there are many genders.

So such a question is difficult for a Democrat to answer. It’s a politically relevant question, given the changes in the law and the claims (probably right) that the “Trans” sexuality issue is going to be “the next civil rights issue,” as many on the left predict, but the media will not ask the question, precisely because no answer is a good answer for a Democrat, and any answer will tend to alienate either the extreme militant sexual-left base, or the moderates needed to win elections.

They love asking exactly that sort of question of Republicans — the evolution question is designed to force Republicans to choose between their Biblical literalist supporters and their less literalist supporters — but they absolutely refuse to ask Democrats designed to produce the same sort of cleavage in their fragile coalition.

They’ll ask Chris Christie and Rand Paul about vaccines but they don’t dare ask the Smartest Woman in the World to count on her fingers and toes (if necessary) how many different variations of “man” and “woman” she recognizes. My only quibble with Ace on this is his assumption that if they did ask and she gave the expected answer — “two,” which would cover her among moderates — that she’d pay a price among the left. Obama ran in 2008 as a supporter of traditional marriage and the left shrugged because they knew, wisely, that they had more to gain from a winning lie than from holding his feet to the fire and risking a schism among Democrats before the election. Why wouldn’t they also look the other way if Hillary gave the conventional gender answer? They’ll have no trans-awareness leverage over President Walker but plenty over President Clinton.

Watch the first two minutes of the second clip below after you’re done with BuzzFeed’s video for Portlandia’s riff on the endless splintering of LGBT identities. It’s affectionate but trenchant in showing how phase two can reach a degree of silly self-absorption that makes it mock-worthy even to allies.

I’m lukewarm on how people see themselves, but I draw the line at me having to see them just as they see themselves. I’m going to see things as I understand them. If a guy gets genital and chest surgery to look more like a woman, and then puts on a dress, they’re going to want to be seen as a woman. But I’m going to see him as a guy wearing a dress who had some plastic surgery done.

I wonder if that’s what really frosts their cookies — that they can’t control how I see and understand things. Sorry, no matter how much “educating” you do, people are always going to be in control of their take on things. Sometimes they’re ignorant, sure, but other times they’re just stupid. And sometimes, they’re right, and you’re wrong. One never knows for sure.

The separate house for “people of sexually or gender dissident communities” actually seems like a good idea to me. Keep them separate. I’m surprised nobody is arguing the “Separate but Equal” line? But seriously why can’t the left accept the science that there are only two genders defined by our chromosomes: Two X’s or One X and One Y.

If you want a real deep dive into this unbelievable madness that is the modern feminist/gender identity movement, go and read through what R.S. McCain has been doing the last several months.

He got into a slapping match on Twitter with some of these people, and his curiosity led him to research the current and historical state of radical feminism.

It is really, truly shocking how unhinged these whackadoos have become the last decade or two, and the really infuriating thing about it all is that we are subsidizing all of it in our public universities through the “Gender Studies” departments.

Now they are beginning the push to get “Gender Studies” curricula introduced into public high schools.

I check on his work from time to time, and this is what is top of the page today:

“We live in a male-supremacist society. Under it,
women are sexually colonized, are treated as
sexual and reproductive chattel. Under it, women
are subjected to a female sexual slavery that is
at the core of patriarchy’s heart of darkness.
Under it, women are subjected to epidemic level
of male violence, male sexual violence and abuse.
It is a rape culture. It is a woman-hating culture.”

Those are the first five sentences of a doctoral dissertation by Pala Molisa, submitted for a Ph.D. in . . . accounting.

Not kidding. At Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, Molisa (who is male, by the way) dedicated his Ph.D. dissertation in accounting to Andrea Dworkin and explained his purpose:

Go read more at his blog if you want, it is eye opening for sure.

I was good friends with a man named William who decided to become Whilemena. One day, he got into a fight with his boyfriend and threatened to drown himself over his partner’s infidelity. I chased him down the street and tried to stop him from jumping into the Bay which was only 3 feet deep.

I succeeded.

I guess my point is to be kind to all, but not push everyone else to hold up signs about Transgenders. Wilhemena survived after I stopped him from breaking his neck off of Bayshore Blvd but damn he had the best dresses I’ve ever seen.

I often wonder where he is these days.

Your story is right in that we shouldn’t display hatred nor believe someone to be less than human. It also showed that people who live like that are constantly fighting demons and we do them no favor by enabling their irrational behavior, rather than trying to help them get through their aberrant lifestyle.

Key West Reader on March 20, 2015 at 6:05 PM

Good for you.

This is a core area where protestant conservatives and political liberals tend to depart: Conservatives believe in treating everyone in life the way they would want to be treated, but don’t believe in discriminatory social policy. High profile leftists don’t treat everyone in life that way, but do believe in discriminatory social policy.

As an example: I believe my individual actions are way more important than any political actions. I just want the political activists to get out of my way so more people will become focused on their individual actions.

Put differently, political conservatives believe in improving themselves and their families, and trying to make their own local community better, through voluntary association. Political leftists believe in improving everyone else besides themselves, and to force their will on the world, through involuntary association.

If you’re a conservative, you accept that your problems are mainly yours to overcome; if you’re a leftist you believe your problems are mainly someone else’s fault, and that other people should be required to help you.

All the gender neutral crap always reminds me of Star Trek: TNG at its preachy worst. Remember the one where the all the planet’s inhabitants looked and dressed alike? The mere mention of gender was considered the most heinous offense by law. Sex was forbidden and all babies were conceived in test tubes and incubated. Riker nailed one of them anyway, of course.

We do have transgender pronouns.
If they were born with XX Chromosomes: “she” mutilated “her” genitals
If they were born with XY Chromosomes: “he” mutilated “his” genitals
Anything else is enabling and exacerbating a mental disorder, making treatment for gender dysphoria more difficult.
Any man who says “I feel like a woman” should be given the same incredulity as a man who says “I feel like a fish”
The thoughts and feelings are being had by a man, ergo by definition: he feels and thinks like a man.
Having never been a woman (nor fish) a man cannot possibly know what feelings they might have and whether his own could even be similar.

I find it hilarious that the people who tell us traditional gender roles are evil/bad and should be phased out, are the same people that in the next breath will tell us not identifying with a gender role is a sufficient rationalization for surgery which violates the Hippocratic Oath.

Actually, gender has to do with language and sex has to do with biology. So, the correct answer to “how many genders are there?” would be, three: masculine, feminine, and neuter. The answer to “how many sexes are there?” would be two: male and female. Not a difficult question to answer when put into the correct context.

For anyone obviously of one gender or the other, the normal “he” and “she” are sufficient.

For those in-between, “shi” and “hir” for the ostensibly fem, “ve” and “vir” for the ostensibly male.

Terms courtesy of early-Seventies SF novelist Kenneth Bulmer, as used in the “Ryder Hook” novels he wrote under the pen name “Tully Zetford”.

Incidentally, in spite of being British, Bulmer was a libertarian and advocate of RKBA.

My original comment was meant to compliment your approach – you helped someone who needed help. You took personal responsibility, even though you didn’t have to, in your sphere of influence. Did you take my post to mean you should have done something different? I think more people should behave the way you did, by helping your friend, instead of assuming some nebulous institution or taxpayer should do the work.

We’ve replaced tight knit communities, where people like you do the right thing, with federal level institutions, where people assume the government will do the right thing, and the latter approach has wreaked havoc in our communities.

Right on. Unfortunately, many young people are focused more on the “feeling” of gender, rather rather than the physical reality of their own bodies. See TumblrInAction (linked earlier) for examples. It’s unreal, illogical, and actively promoted in our schools and universities. And then these students go on to do irreversible harm to their own bodies, based on the propaganda they learned in school.

Nephew Sam on March 20, 2015 at 7:25 PM

“Why we need transgender pronouns”

“H’orsh’it”: Gender-free replacement for “he, she, or it.”
Based on a statement by Joel Forbes

“A**hole!”: Gender-free insult.
Inspired by a statement by Daniel Liebert.

Dr. Charles G. Waugh on March 20, 2015 at 7:36 PM

Two pronouns fit here, ourselves and themselves. Ourselves because there seems to be a whole bunch of him, her, we, us, and its all jumbled together in there in various ways. Themselves works because that is what they should be, left to themselves because their personal collective is just too complicated for “our” well being.

Texas Eagle on March 20, 2015 at 7:04 PM

Well, that depends upon the language. In our language every noun is neuter and covered by the ubiquitous “the” definite article and indefinite articles like “a” or “an” that depend solely upon whether the first letter of the noun is a vowel or a consonant.

Anyone notice that the word “actress” has become virtually non-existent in the LSM over the last few decades? “ette” and “ess” seem to be extremely taboo-they are rather like the German “erin” tacked on to the base masculine noun for a profession or nationality…I don’t know if they Germans are trying to do away with that over there?

Even “waitresses” and “waiters” seem to be disappearing in favor of “servers”. But that sounds slavish, doesn’t it now? LOL

Dr. ZhivBlago on March 20, 2015 at 7:58 PM

how about coksukker and coksukkee as pronouns….gender non-specific, activity-correct, non-judgemental, descriptive, only 3 syllables…..of course if describing females or what once used to be females anatomically then the terms become more complex, as in wannabecoksukker and wannabecoksukkee and exwannabecoksukker and exwannabecoksukkee…….but of course some gender confused individuals might object to the attempt at specificity insofar as it actually tries to nail them down wrt their sexual proclivities and we wouldn’t want to offend them by being accurate……in their cases the pronouns pseudoexwannabecoksukker and pseudoexwannabecoksukkee would probably suffice without being overly burdensome

We already have pronouns in the English language for men and women: “he” and “she”.

I refuse to play silly games and call a person something he or she is not. Men – even in a dress – are “he” and women – even with facial hair – are “she”.

If you are born a man, with a Y chromosome, you are always a man, no matter how you dress or how much you mutilate your body. Otherwise, you are a woman.

This is quite simple. Next question.

There are no “true hermaphrodites” — just rare individuals that have partially formed genitalia or even gonads that are one testi and one ovary. A true hermaphrodite would be able to impregnate himself and give birth to live young.
