Want to avoid being called a racist? Pay Al Sharpton

posted at 6:31 pm on January 4, 2015 by Jazz Shaw

Have you ever wondered how Al Sharpton sorts through all of the many racial crisis management situations in the country and decides where and when the attention of his National Action Network will be focused? The New York Post has been doing some digging and found that there’s more than a little method to the madness. Whether it is cash or influence, it appears that if you have a corporation or organization looking to do business and you don’t want to be singled out and identified as a racist, you can cut a deal with Reverend Al.

Want to influence a casino bid? Polish your corporate image? Not be labeled a racist?

Then you need to pay Al Sharpton.

For more than a decade, corporations have shelled out thousands of dollars in donations and consulting fees to Sharpton’s National Action Network. What they get in return is the reverend’s supposed sway in the black community or, more often, his silence…

“Al Sharpton has enriched himself and NAN for years by threatening companies with bad publicity if they didn’t come to terms with him. Put simply, Sharpton specializes in shakedowns,” said Ken Boehm, chairman of the National Legal & Policy Center, a Virginia-based watchdog group that has produced a book on Sharpton.

This is a report well worth reading because some of it beggars the imagination. A Connecticut hedge firm group, Plainfield Asset Management, is on record as having ponied up $600,000 in two separate payments (funneled through another non-profit group) to Sharpton’s group while trying to curry favor with him during tricky government negotiations, or at least to avoid attracting fire from him. His group apparently had also been pestering General Motors for donations for many years without success. Then Al decided to protest GM in front of a dealership they were closing and suddenly the payments began. He pulled a similar move with American Honda in 2003, and also landed a $25K per year “consulting” gig with Pepsi after he threatened them with a boycott which mysteriously never happened after the checks started coming in.

One of the strangest tales in the article, however, deals with Sony Entertainment and the same woman made famous in recent stories about their leaked emails, Amy Pascal. While no money seems to have changed hands (yet), there was certainly a meeting of the minds.

Sony Pictures co-chair Amy Pascal met with the activist preacher after leaked e-mails showed her making racially charged comments about President Obama. Pascal was under siege after a suspected North Korean cyber attack pressured the studio to cancel its release of “The Interview,” which depicts the assassination of dictator Kim Jong-un.

Pascal and her team were said to be “shaking in their boots” and “afraid of the Rev,” The Post reported.

No payments to NAN have been announced, but Sharpton and Pascal agreed to form a “working group” to focus on racial bias in Hollywood.

I’m not saying that any of this will come as some sort of stunning surprise to our readers, but the boldness and audacity of it is almost breathtaking. And it’s all being done pretty much right out in the open. As a devout capitalist, I sort of have to tip my hat to Sharpton here. Good work if you can get it.

In some places, and for non-Democrats, this is referred to as ‘organized crime’.

For Democrats, it’s just business as usual, move along.

Jesse Jackson has been doing this for years, too. Google “Texaco” and “black jellybeans.”

IIRC, Obama did the same thing when he was a community organizer. Threatened to sit-in at a bank unless it started to give more black mortgages (creditworthiness not a consideration).

Sharpton is a race-pimp engaging in extortion.

We need to start inflicting some pain on anyone who associates with Sharpton. This slimy little crook has no shame, but if we make him toxic we can destroy his leverage.

As long as it’s about race it will be impossible to shove Sharpton off the stage. The spotlight has to be on Sharpton himself, because his history will then speak for itself.

I’m reminded of a political cartoon in a French newspaper on the news of the death of the ayatollah Khomenei.

It shows him being squashed like a bug by the finger of God coming out of the sky with the caption being, IIRC, “Aziz!”
which means in English, “Enough!”

With regards to the mortgages, read that here in California, banks and mortgage companies are starting to push out more and more zero down / sub-prime adjustable mortgages in order to help boost home sales…

…nothing like embarking on the same steps that caused the 2008 bubble burst / financial crisis all over again…this time probably expecting different results.

VorDaj on January 4, 2015 at 7:47 PM

Slightly OT, re Sharpton tax situation:

FYI, this is conjecture on my part.

As I understand it, his organization has unpaid payroll taxes to the tune of 4 million $

Assume he gets a regular paycheck, amount unknown, but Social Security, Medicare and personal income taxes (PIT) are withheld. He instructs the payroll department to take out extra PIT, so that at the end of the year he has had withheld an amount much greater than needed to pay taxes due on his income.

These funds are supposed to be remitted to the government on a weekly or monthly basis. In this case, funds were not remitted, but remained in organization coffers.

The organization does this for a whole year, issuing a W-2 with the amount withheld for personal (and state if applicable) listed. This information is provided to the individual, state and federal tax authorities.

He files his Form 1040, which results in a large refund, which the government gladly direct deposits into his account, despite the fact that the organization has not remitted any taxes for a year.

The money that was not remitted is then conveyed to him as a bonus, or some other subterfuge. This person has just doubled his money at the expense of the honest taxpayers of America.

Normally, this situation does not continue for long, as the IRS will close you down, but with his contacts in the Administration, it could continue for a long time.

Your mileage may vary from government estimates….

Remember the Rutgers girl’s basketball team and Imus. He called them nappy something or other and the Rev was all over it. There were calls to fire Imus and the Rev met with the people at the radio station expecting to get his big fat check. It is usually over $10 million. But instead the radio station fired Imus. Next day the Rev was interviewed and asked if he was pleased that Imus was fired as so many people had called for. He was speechless. His plan hadn’t worked out.

The shake down has been going on for years. First there is the check- writing and then some black lawyer is made Chief Counsel. That is what happened to Gov Deval Patrick. He was placed at Texaco and Coca cola.

Glad to see what has been talked about for years in my circle of friends has made the light of day. I wonder who wants his head on a platter. Started with the NY TImes article a few weeks ago. He must have pissed off somebody.

I vaguely recall Texaco paid to the tune of $600,000,000. I know that can’t be right, it’s absurd, but that’s what I recall. The incident I recall is they already had a “diversity training” program in place, part of which included a metaphor about “black jelly beans being at the bottom of the bag”. So later, some disgruntled employee taped a high level meeting where some executive was joking about “black jelly beans at the bottom of the bag”. The tape became public, said exec was fired, lots of tongues were clucking over the use of the phrase “black jelly beans” by the fired exec, even though he got it from the guy running the diversity training program! It would all be hilarious if it wasn’t part of some huge extortion scheme.

Johnnyreb on January 5, 2015 at 7:22 AM

Another ‘National Black Leader’ is exposed as an opportunistic, blackmailing race-baiting, ‘Pied-Piper’ profiteer.

Several Years ago ‘Reverend’ Jesse Jackson, another highly touted ‘Champion of the Black Cause and People’, was exposed exorting money from companies by telling them if they did not co ntribute to his ‘Rainbow’ coalition’ he would label them as being ‘Racist’ and destorying their business. The money collected was primarily going to his secret mistress and illegitimate child. Today Jackson can be found at the head of any Racial March, not too far away from Al Sharpton…wherever there are cameras and the media. Just recently he showed up at an event for Michael Brown and was nearly boo-ed off the stage when he began asking for money.

Several years ago a young black girl claimed she had been raped by several white policemen. Sharpton flew to her side and began cha, pioning her cause. He stirred up anger and hatred, said and claled the policemen some VILE names, and organized marches before the investigation had begun. At one point he even PRODUCED ‘EVIDENCE’ against the police…only have the entire case come crumbling down when the girl finally admitted the whole thing was a lie. Sharpton fled the state before anyone could catch on that he had illeglaly tampered with an investigation by producing / submitting false evidence and charge him with a crime. The authorities, just wanting the whole thing to go away, just let it all slide.

Now Sharpton is being exposed for a self-serving, race-issue-mannipulating, nation-dividing, ‘Racist’ pimp, selling ‘Racism’ for profit. Blacks need to wake up and realize PO$-es like this do NOT care for them, are not seriously interested in healing the wounds and making things better, and are NOT people they should be looking up to as ‘Leaders’.

easyt65 on January 5, 2015 at 8:23 AM

Sharpton is NOT the criminal in this he is only one of the perpetrators that crossed some imaginary line and is getting sardonically fried on this. The Crime goes back to Lois Lerner of the IRS who personally approved these tax exempt personal holding companies that seem to flourish only for the the few, the powerful, the Democratic Elite. She also approved the Clintons and the Obama’s multiple tax exempt money laundering shames. The true crime here is that for years now the people, the law and the MSM treat these select few as Demigods and allow this RICO behavior. We will never again be a Nation of the FREE and the BRAVE until we are again a Nation that will stand up to such criminal acts. I am ashamed that I lived my life and served my country in the true believes of truth, justices and strong family values, to see it defamed in such a manner.
