Semi-retired president forces soldiers to move wedding to accommodate his golf game

posted at 2:01 pm on December 29, 2014 by Allahpundit

So this is what his advisors had in mind when they said he feels “liberated” after the election. Now, as a late-stage lame duck, he’s free to be the d*ck he always wanted to be but couldn’t for fear of the electoral consequences.

If “You’re Only President Once” means anything, it means telling a pair of Army officers who’ve spent months planning their Hawaiian dream wedding that they’ll have to make way because you simply must, must golf at that very hour.

It was the second time that day that the couple heard from the nation’s commander in chief, whose affinity for golf has, at times, caused political headaches for the White House. Stationed in Hawaii and knowing the president spends his Christmas holiday on the islands, they invited him to their ceremony on a lark. They had received a letter earlier on Saturday saying Obama regretted he couldn’t come and wishing them happiness on their wedding day.

“It was kind of ironic they got the letter from them and then, within hours, they were told they had to be moved due to him,” Jamie McCarthy, Mallue’s sister, said in an interview. “It was emotional, especially for her—she’s the bride and in less than 24 hours they had to change everything they had planned.”

[A]nyone planning an event at the course when the president may be in town is warned about the potential for last-minute shuffling, said Naile Brennan, manager of K Bay Catering, which was handling logistics for the wedding. Brennan said they had other sites ready to go, and the couple ended up choosing the lush, green lawn near the home of Colonel Eric Schaefer, the commanding officer of the base, which offers an elevated view near the 16th hole.

I’m tempted to call this The Most Obama Thing Ever but realistically it is and can only be number two on that list. To make it to number one, O would have had to tee off while standing underneath the couple’s trellis, the ball perched atop a champagne glass engraved with their initials, while the bride sobbed quietly in the background. He’s got two years as president left; I give him 50/50 odds of making it happen eventually.

He did end up calling the bride and apologizing — after Bloomberg Politics called the White House and asked for a comment on what happened, alerting them to the fact that a story was in the works. Exit question: O’s approval rating within the military is 15/55 according to the most recent Military Times poll. What’ll it be next month once Drudge inevitably picks this up?

Clearly, these people are enjoying their extended adolescence.

I always enjoy the part where you’re impressed with a big word without understanding the letter says you’re being sued.

So they thanked Obama for ruining their wedding?…

Pest on December 30, 2014 at 9:36 AM

Allah – does it bother you at all that your narrative here is fiction?
There’s your silly and false telling of this – and then there’s actually what happened.
Obama wasn’t aware of or advocating for any of this at all.
This is like that LA motorcade story all the blogs got silly over a few months back…when some woman was blocked from crossing the street or something.
And how mean is Obama with all those traffic delays in DC…the nerve!

Other than that whole invitation thing which either he and/or his staff bungled, you mean.

An administration spokesman referred questions about the day to the military base, and it’s not clear the White House would have been informed about the wedding in advance. After Bloomberg Politics inquired about the scheduling conflict, Obama put in a personal call to the bride.

“He apologized and congratulated them,” McCarthy said, adding that it was a “wonderful talk.”

Ugh. The number of people who worship politicians…

He wanted to golf, and didn’t care about ruining your wedding plans. How is that a “wonderful talk?” A “wonderful talk” would include a rescheduling of his golf game, and to recognize your wedding is more important.

Only in your drug addled mind, the only thing he might be able to claim an entitlement is Camp David.

Something doesn’t add up. Although they were supposedly thrilled to receive a phone call from BHO wishing them well, someone contacted the press to spill the story of BHO disrupting the wedding plans so he could play golf. Someone wasn’t happy about the disruption and went to the press. Wonder who that was?

Yep, and the news story is his willingness to take full advantage of his entitlement.

If I get to the door of a local restaurant directly ahead of a pregnant woman pushing a stroller, I’m entitled to go in before her. Tough luck.

But a decent person holds the door.

I just don’t see why this is such a big deal. From what I have seen on TV both parties are happy. I will not be happy soul when Obama flies back to Washington and gets out his veto pen.

You bring up a good point in why the story matters.

The president holding the veto pen has shown he’s willing to knowingly and actively do this to a supporter and new bride over a hole or two during part of one of his 500+ golf/fundraiser outings.

How receptive do you think he’ll be with people who disagree with him politically whom he’s admitted he considers his enemies once he’s back in D.C.?

HEY WEED’ ! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Royalty is “entitled”.
.
The President of a Republic, and any other politicians from him on down, are not.
.
Apparently we’re going to have to experience a Republican President doing this, to prove how outraged Republican voters would be, over such an action.

He is going to be an absolute jackass when he gets back to Washington and gets a case of veto pens, that is my entire point. I saw the couple that did get married in Hawaii this morning. At least on camera they were unfazed about what happened. They have my sympathy, but they seem to be enjoying all the press they are getting too.

YOUR arrogant SOB make believe president…don’t care how many lives he turns upside down, so he can have what he wants, like a 5 year old….and the golf course is just as bad….they should have told him NO…. AND… it was a military wedding…SO HE ENJOYED F$%^#$% IT UP.

Sadly, Obama is not a make believe president. And, if you are an American, he is your president, too, as long as he occupies the office. For the record, I did not vote for the man either time he ran. I voted for McCain and Romney. As for this being a military wedding, I did not know there was such a thing. It was a wedding that was occurring on a military base.

The real questions are whether there will be a poll for the most egregious Obama suck-up and apologist, and whether you’ll make the top 5.

Classless

Definition: having or showing crudely insensitive or impolite manners “I object not so much to what the president did as the classless way he did it”

Synonyms boorish, churlish, classless, cloddish, loutish, uncouth

It has been said many times and in many ways but I have to say it myself. Obama is a d*ck, and he prides himself on being a d*ck.

The irony, Obama didn’t grown up in my America, he has no clue what being a d*ck is.

So you have new information regarding what President Obama called and apologized for?

rogerb on December 30, 2014 at 6:10 PM

Some of you think Obama had nothing to do with this. In fact, it is his sense of entitlement that allows his staff to act the same way.

On the other side is GWB, who spent his time as President making sure everyone was taken care of. I knew some of the people in the White House and he made it very clear that everyone was to act decent.

In fact, there was a recent article from a reporter who covers the White House talking about how GWB never left to go anywhere during Christmas because he knew it pulled staff and reporters from their families. When he did go on vacation during the holidays, for years he would give discount rates to the families of the reporters and staff so they could go along. Something like a hundred dollars a person.

Obama’s team stopped that. He leaves and screws everyone because he feels entitled, just like his wife. This is their “getting mine” belief.

Self centered POS. For once in his reign he had the chance to show he is the elected US President and not an imperial king……and he showed his true colors. Its time for episode 123432 of “if george bush had done this”.

I’m guessing the Praetorian Guard Secret Service were behind this and Obama wasn’t informed of what they would consider a triviality.

But, I’m also guessing that Dear Leader doesn’t give a crap, either.
