This Gruber-gate supercut video is positively enraging

posted at 8:01 pm on November 18, 2014 by Noah Rothman

This video, flagged by invaluable Twitter resource and Ace of Spades Decision Desk entrepreneur John Ekdahl, is among the most infuriating things you will see today.

Composed by American Commitment, this video is nothing more than a smash cut of the various videos of Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber juxtaposed against footage of Democratic lawmakers either denying his existence or exalting him to the havens.

This video perfectly encapsulates why the imbroglio surrounding Gruber’s comments has the potential to blow the debate over the Affordable Care Act wide open. For a law which enjoys a popularity rating of 37 percent, Obamacare supporters can scarcely afford for the ACA to shed more of its already moribund favorability – particularly at a time in American history when the law’s opponents are on the ascendancy.

The nut of why this whole episode is so infuriating, when it isn’t enervating, are the repeated insults done to America’s collective intelligence by those who believe themselves to be members of a superior class. That condition is made even more insufferable by those Obamacare supporters who are attempting to rewrite the history of the ACA in order to airbrush Gruber out of the picture.

The Federalist’s Sean Davis has a compelling piece on this phenomenon, and it’s worth your full attention. It concludes

Come. On. I hate to break it to you all, but Gruber doesn’t get to be an architect of Obamacare and Romneycare when you want to use his authority and credentials to bash Republicans or spin for the law, and then radically transform into one of three Jon Grubers who just happens to live in Obama’s neighborhood once Gruber becomes a massive liability for the Left.

Gruber was one of the key architects of Obamacare. He didn’t just build econometric simulation models based on the law. He was also involved in drafting its key components. And he was paid enormous sums of money for his advice and counsel. These are facts. Accept them, learn to deal with them, and give the embarrassingly bad Gruber Truthing a rest.

The sloppy, almost perfunctory efforts from some members of the liberal press simply are not up to the task of defusing “Gruber-gate.” The public was told that the entirety of the American health care system had to be remade in order to extend coverage to, at most by the end of this year, 13 million people. Now, they are being informed by no less a figure than the law’s architect that they were idiots for believing him and his allies.

This could all be quite explosive.

The truth is the truth, it has no political affiliation, it does not care what your political party is. The second you decide that the truth should be buried if it does not advance your political agenda, you are the enemy at the gate.

And the truth is that Republicans will not be the salvation of this once-mighty republic. The shysters on Caiptol Hill all want their piece of the pie, and they don’t care who they have to step on in order to get it. If there’s one thing Gruber’s Mass-uh-chew-sits connections ought to be able to prove, it’s that.

The audacity of the blatant lies of this president is a clear indication of the contempt he has for Americans. He can only expect Americans to believe his never ending lies if he considers them to be stupid and inferior.
I despise this president. He is a man of the lowest character, filled with lies, who ignores and dishonors the oath he took upon entering the office of the presidency. His intentions are clearly not to promote and defend the Constitution, either in letter or in spirit, but to weaken and ultimately destroy it.
He is a mediocre intellect and a prolific, if incompetent, liar.
Those Democrats who followed and supported Obola in foisting this disastrous, thoroughly non-transparent fraud should be hounded from office, along with their lying leader.
While thoroughly disgusted by the nefarious, ignoble, pernicious, unscrupulous actions of Commandante Obola and his low-minded minions, I am enjoying watching the public exposure of this wretched cabal.

Incontrovertibly caught in a lie. If this is ignored by the Republicans, we have no party on the side of We the People in Congress.

Our only hope then is to ignore the current Feral Government and turn toward the leaders in our several state governments and implore them to redress and reform the once venerable and vaunted United States Government to its former limited powers that made it the most effective and feared guardian of freedom on God’s green Earth.

Gruber is just ONE elitist a$$hole.

The real scandal is that in speech after speech he insulted the intelligence of the American voter and admitted to lying about and obscuring how the (not very) Affordable Care act would work to ROOMS FULL OF ELITIST A$$HOLES.

Not one of them called him out on his elitist assumptions. The supposed low intelligence of the American voter was a laugh line to them – in room after room …

ROOMS FULL OF LITTLE GRUBER SYCOPHANTS. LITTLE GRUBER WANNABEE’S.

He was playing to an audience that lapped up the elitist B.S. he was spewing.

unclesmrgol on November 19, 2014 at 11:24 AM

That said, this day and age things are on a different footing altogether. It’s certainly a fault of the entire federal government for where we now stand in the shadow of a dictator and there is no way we can rely upon the representation we sent there to make the necessary correction.

We the People of the several states stand a much better chance of dealing with this matter with and through those in charge much closer to home than those we sent to DC. Our several states can nullify the unconstitutional actions of Congress, the Executive branch, and the Judiciary.

We the People created that government and We the People can take it out. We can make a new one that looks just like it, only now without all the bureaucracy and corruption. That ought to last at least another hundred years before it starts to enamor of itself and forget how it came to be and what it is limited to.

Only through the several states can this be accomplished. It’s much easier to take out the trash at home than it is when the trash pile is either tens to hundreds or to thousands of miles away. The several state governments can be much easier to hold in check than an abominated clique far away. Those several states can in turn control that clique much better that we the people acting directly can – short of war.

Get involved at home and you can effect better government beyond home.

EATIN’ GRUBER PEAS*
(sung to the tune of “Eating Goober Peas”)

Aught-nine a cold November, the Dems were in a squeeze,
They had to pass Obamacare ‘fore Scott Brown capped their knees.
They ran to ol’ Obammay, cried “Preezy help us, please!”
Said he, “I got a Gruber. He’ll make them eat their peas.”

chorus:

Peas, peas, peas, peas, eat your Gruber peas.
Time to rip the band-aid off, and make them eat their peas.

Well, Gruber , he’s a ‘fessor, Econ at M-I-T,
He whupped his numbers into shape in print for all to see,
And the White House waved that paper for its object-tivity:
“Obamacare lowers premiums for American families!”

Peas, peas, peas, peas, eat your Gruber peas.
Goodness how delicious! Eat your Gruber peas.

The Dems they were rejoicing, the press corpse they were pleased.
And the average voter, Gruber said, was stupider than these.
But Gruber lied, and knowed it, that taxes would increase,
Four hundred grand they paid him, to make us eat our peas.

Peas, peas, peas, peas, eat your Gruber peas.
He got six million dollars, to make us eat our peas!

Now in deepest dark December, old Reid got up to wheeze:
“The Senate’s passed Obamacare by an all-Dem ‘jority!”
Old Nan, to see what’s in it, passed the House bill in a breeze,
So they reconciled and deemed-and-passed, and made us eat our peas.

Peas, peas, peas, peas, eat your Gruber peas.
Goodness how delicious! Eat your Gruber peas.

Now Gruber boasts of lyin’ and foolin’ us with sleaze,
And the good thing is, there ain’t no cure for his foot-and-mouth disease.
Says Ol’ Bammy lied a whole lot worse, a hundred times with ease:
“You like your doc, you keep your doc. Now eat your Gruber peas.”

Peas, peas, peas, peas, eat your Gruber peas.
Goodness, how delicious! Eat your Gruber peas.

Now the moral of this story, at which you ought not sneeze,
If you want the truth from Congress, then look for Hell to freeze.
They want your hard-earned money, their Grubers’ palms to grease,
So shut your mouth and pay their bills– and eat their Gruber peas.

[repeat chorus]

*Inspired by the original song and an IBD editorial. Go figure.

Tlaloc on November 19, 2014 at 2:28 PM

At the beginning of this year, the Dems were given better-than-even chances of holding onto the Senate. This was such conventional wisdom I’m amazed (no, not really) that you think you can Gruber anyone with your feigned insouciance that this was never the case. While the GOP was expected to win a few seats, few predicted that it would win enough to regain control of the Senate, and nobody anticipated the GOP winning 9 seats (when this is all done)– almost including the absolutely safe guaranteed VA senate seat. (Right down to the end, the polls badly underestimated GOP chances in GA, NC, and KY. Try objectively reading one from, oh, the week before 11/04/14. This is the first time the Democrats lost the Senate in a Presidential sixth-year mid-term since 1918, and no one saw it coming. Least of all you and your party.

A few dreamers thought the Dems might even make inroads in the House. Nobody expected enough GOP to guarantee a GOP lock on the House through 2016.

Governorships and state assemblies? You expected to lose them all? How blasé.

So, I’m sorry you don’t get spike the ball

And hope. And pray. And write a letter to the newspaper.

And hope. And pray.

And maybe someone(s) in DC will grow some cajones.

One can hope. And pray.

In Reality, the Gruber story is a non-entity. While the rightwing web has been blasting stuff about him all day every day outside of wingnuttistan nobody seems to notice or care.

Really? Let’s check the popularity of O and O-care over the next month or so. They’re both pretty much in free-fall.

People are noticing, proggie.

Then he’ll just put on his Bored Proggie Face, fake a yawn, and say every one knew that was coming.

Notice how he capitalizes “In Reality,” like it’s his own Special Little Place? Which it is.

If Nancy Pelosi were literally (I mean literally) flung into a pit filled with starving lions, I’d donate a kidney to watch. Put Shrillary in there with her…both kidneys.

The two most evil wh0r3s since Lady Macbeth.

The 2014 election wasn’t exactly a surprise.

Tlaloc on November 19, 2014 at 2:19 PM

No, it was way more. Over 1000 seats went R, even in deep, deep, deep blue Arlington.

You were squished beyond the gnat that you always are.

still focusing on single polls instead of aggregates? It’s like you’re just dying to repeat 2012.
Oh well, maybe you’ll learn this time… or next time… or the time after that…

It’d be refreshing if you had something to say instead of simply spamming the boards with other people’s quotes.

Eat your own sh*t, fool. Btw, the WH staff are veeeeery depressed. Take this to the bank.

HA intellect, on full display.

Follow up question: don’t you feel guilty buying grocers and being able to eat while billionaires have to pay taxes, you heartless moocher?
If you want to argue that financial aid to struggling people is an insidious trap you need to actually do a good job of establishing that, not just assume it. Communications 101.

George W. Bush communicates better.

How you wish that were true, you obama puta.

Schadenfreude on November 21, 2014 at 1:10 PM

Landrieu, Nr. 30 from the senate, due to obama’care’ alone.

Go obama. He ruins the Left, apace. It’s fun.

Schadenfreude on November 21, 2014 at 1:11 PM

Wait, what is there to be butt-hurt about?

Tlaloc on November 19, 2014 at 2:19 PM

Why it took you 3 weeks to get your arrogance back and get out from under your mom’s apron. We’ve not seen, or heard of, Michellette since that night.

She, once again, hates her “racist” country. Must be hell to live with her. No wonder he’s in Vegas until Sunday.
