Video: Parents of fallen SEAL demand Obama resignation

posted at 2:01 pm on September 2, 2014 by Ed Morrissey

Tough words from Billy and Karen Vaughn, whose only son Aaron gave his life in a 2011 crash of a SEAL Team Six Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan, perhaps in the shootdown shortly after the mission that killed Osama bin Laden. For years, Barack Obama relied on the success of the bin Laden mission to make the argument that he could lead the nation in war. Now the Vaughns accuse Obama of “a cowardly lack of leadership,” and demand his resignation over the administration’s failure to stop ISIS when it had opportunities to do so:

On Monday, the Vaughns wrote a letter, calling out Mr Obama’s decision to go golfing after holding an important press conference on the Foley video.

‘As Commander-in-Chief, your actions – or lack thereof – Mr President, cost lives.

‘As you bumble about in your golf cart, slapping on a happy face and fist-pounding your buddies, your cowardly lack of leadership has left a gaping hole — not only in America’s security — but the security of the entire globe.

‘Your message has come across loud and clear, sir: You are not up to this job. You know it. We know it. The world knows it,’ the Vaughns wrote in the letter published on World Tribune.

The couple go on to directly ask Mr Obama to resign so that a man or woman ‘of courage and substance’ can take over and address the ‘out-of-control thug fest’ happening in Syria and Iraq, where ISIS is attempting to establish a caliphate.

‘It’s time for you to step down and allow a true leader to restore our honor and protect our sons and daughters…You, Mr President, are a bump in the road.”

The Vaughns appeared today on Fox News after their report that Obama had been briefed for more than a year about the threat from ISIS and the opportunities for strikes on “hundreds” of targets long before the group broke out across Iraq. Needless to say, the Vaughns point to that development as further evidence that Obama needs to resign in favor of someone who takes the job more seriously. “Your report there at the top of the hour is a perfect example,” Billy Vaughn tells Brian Kilmeade:

Let’s get back to the idea that a resignation will produce “a man or woman of substance” as a leader. Actually, it’s very clear what it would produce, as a matter of constitutional law — President Joe Biden, whose instincts are probably even more isolationist than Obama’s. He might be more engaged, but he’s hardly the steady hand on the rudder that the Vaughns would obviously prefer. If both Biden and Obama resigned at the same time, that would make John Boehner President, which would improve matters but would never happen in a million years, as Democrats aren’t about to walk away from controlling the White House, especially not at the very moment that it appears Republicans are about to take control of the Senate.

Besides, it’s clear that the only part of the job that truly engages Obama is the set of perks the office provides, which means he’s not going to simply walk away from the Presidency, even if history provided more precedents for it than it does. He’s not going to marry himself to Richard Nixon for eternity, after all, not willingly at least.

As a strategic demand, then, this is an exercise in futility. As a cri de coeur, however, it succeeds — and highlights once again the growing consensus that Obama is out of his depth on national security and foreign policy.

And now, we have this recent, heinous event: the beheading of an American citizen by a barbaric organization you foolishly referred to as “the JV team” in your statements to the New Yorker magazine in January.

You, sir, are the JV team. It’s time for you to step down and allow a true leader to restore our honor and protect our sons and daughters.

America has always been exceptional. And she will be again. You, Mr. President, are a bump in our road.

Ah, the old “Joe Biden would be even worse.” meme.

Really? How do we know? He might kick out many of the Obama sycophants, (put in his own, of course), but the guy is at least old enough to remember what America used to be like. And maybe, just maybe, he might have aspirations to run in 2016 on a platform of making America strong again. And better yet, as an OLD WHITE GUY, the media might tend to hold him accountable to some degree.

I do not believe there IS “worse than Obama”. He’s it. He’s THE ONE.

ReVisting Extortion 17:

TEAM SEAL 6,..U.S. Operation call sign Extortion 17!!
Families of slain SEAL Team 6 to blame government for deaths of servicemen
May 9, 2013
***********

Three families of Navy SEAL Team Six servicemen, along with the family of an Army National Guardsman, plan to appear at a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, May 9, to “disclose never before revealed information about how and why their sons along with 26 others died in a fatal helicopter crash in Afghanistan” on August 6, 2011, a few months after the raid on the compound that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden, The Blaze reported.
Thirty-eight people, including seven Afghans and an interpreter, died when the helicopter carrying 25 members of SEAL Team Six and five other Americans, crashed.

According to a press release put out by the families, retired military experts will also appear to explain “how and why the government is as much responsible for the deaths of their sons as is the Taliban.”

Karen Vaughn, mother of fallen Navy Seal of Aaron Carson Vaughn, reacted to Barack Obama’s campaign ad “One Chance” last year. Karen and Billy Vaughn lost their son Aaron, a Navy SEAL, in Afghanistan in 2011.

Out of touch — Rebuke of Clinton and Obama from the heart of a mother
The press release says that areas of inquiry include, but are not limited to:
==============================================================

How President Obama and Vice President Biden, having disclosed on May 4, 2011, that Navy SEAL Team VI carried out the successful raid on Bin Laden’s compound resulting in the master terrorist’s death, put a retaliatory target on the backs of the fallen heroes.

*How and why high-level military officials sent these Navy SEAL Team VI heroes into battle without special operations aviation and proper air support.
*How and why middle-level military brass carries out too many ill-prepared missions to boost their standing with top-level military brass and the Commander-in-Chief in order that they can be promoted.

*How the military restricts special operations servicemen and others from engaging in timely return fire when fired upon by the Taliban and other terrorist groups and interests, thus jeopardizing the servicemen’s lives.
*How and why the denial of requested pre-assault fire may have contributed to the shoot down of the Navy SEAL Team VI helicopter and the death of these special operations servicemen.

*How Afghani forces accompanying the Navy SEAL Team VI servicemen on the helicopter were not properly vetted and how they possibly disclosed classified information to the Taliban about the mission, resulting in the shoot down of the helicopter.

*How military brass, while prohibiting any mention of a Judeo-Christian God, invited a Muslim cleric to the funeral for the fallen Navy SEAL Team VI heroes who disparaged in Arabic the memory of these servicemen by damning them as infidels to Allah. A video of the Muslim cleric’s “prayer” will be shown with a certified translation.

According to Jason Howerton, the press conference “has not been highly publicized.”
“This press conference takes on special significance given that our government has over the last twelve years since September 11th committed brave American servicemen to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that, in large part as a result of politics, were poorly conceived of and implemented, resulting in the deaths of thousands and the maiming of tens of thousands of our brave heroes. To make matters even worse, America has effectively lost these wars,” said Larry Klayman, legal counsel for the families.

The press conference also comes on the heels of a House hearing on the Benghazi terror attack that left Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead.
Video of one mother’s reaction to Obama’s campaign ad “One Chance” can be seen here.

Sorry Ed, for once I cannot agree with you. Obama is not out of his depth. He knows exactly what he’s doing. His goal is to undermine the moral, military and economic strength of the United States and the presidency, both overseas and at home. This goal informs every foreign and domestic policy decision he makes. When viewed from that perspective, he is frighteningly competent. He has succeeded, to our collective loss.

They released a photo of Obama taking the phone call learning about the dooming of that mission. That was very strange because you have to call in a photographer to snap your reaction to the news you are learning from that specific phone call, which means it was all a fake. The only reason you’d do that is to hide the knowledge that you were well aware of the news beforehand and the only reason you’d do that is if you were directing the mission yourself in real time or otherwise intimately involved and needed to create separation from the mission.

He had ideas that he was a big battlefield commander after bin Laden. There were stories about how he was controlling missions in real time during that time.

Tough words from Billy and Karen Vaughn, whose only son Aaron gave his life in a 2011 crash of a SEAL Team Six Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan…

The Vaughns likely lost their son in the deadliest single loss for U.S. forces in the 10-year history of the Afghanistan war, a war in which the use of close air support had never been problematic, because the enemy never had access to MANPADS, SAMS, or Stingers in all that time.

Then, within 3 months of delivery of such weapons to Benghazi rebels, our forces began facing MANPADS in Afghanistan. 4 air assets lost in 2011 (including the Chinook that likely carried Aaron Vaugn in August), then again on June 1st, June 6th, August 16th and September 5th in 2012– from SAM and Stinger attacks.

There is a line from Benghazi to Afghanistan AND to ISIS, which began with the fateful decision, followed by indecision after indecision, of the most unqualified, unprincipled, and pusillanimous Commander in Chief in U.S. history.

The Vaughns know exactly whereof they speak. God bless them.

Jarrett has no personal relationship with Biden and her position with Obama is personal rather than Cabinet. So probably not.

gh on September 2, 2014 at 3:15 PM

I love these people. Truly.

About time somebody finally spoke actual TRUTH to POWER. Maybe they’ll even be listened to.

Obama and his whole team should simply resign and let somebody else take over. It’s past time.

I’d suggest this gentleman might want to run. I don’t know if he knows jack squat about governing, but I’ll be he knows leadership.

Certainly better than the current empty occupant of the White House.

gh on September 2, 2014 at 3:15 PM

Possibly. I don’t know, I just feel like it wouldn’t make me feel much better if Obama stepped down or was impeached. The damage has already been done and continues to be done on a daily basis, so he needs to be held fully accountable but not while being treated as a martyr or a victim of “Racist Amerikkka.”

And again, Biden isn’t much of an improvement.

GWB on September 2, 2014 at 3:25 PM

Gh, they did post a picture. With the big concerned, surprised look while hearing the news. They’ll say the photographer just happened to be taking photos of Obama at the time. Unusable unless you can prove he had prior knowledge.

Buddahpundit on September 2, 2014 at 3:27 PM

Having read numerous books on conflicts in the ME I have to say that the lack of ‘prep fire’ in the LZ for the Chinook was prohibited. It’s not as though you’re going to sneak up and surprise anyone in one of those.
Too many times ‘higher’ refused requests of artillery to support the troops. I think these events should be investigated in order to weed the worms out of command. Our soldiers deserve EVERY ounce of our support when we send them in harm’s way.

As for the rest of us: We shall survive the precedence of King Putt of Pen & Phone, but I wonder if we’ll survive those amongst us that elected him … TWICE!

I’m sure there are several IRS audits and trumped up Department of Social Justice “indictments” coming in the near future for the Vaughns.

Let’s get back to the idea that a resignation will produce “a man or woman of substance” as a leader. Actually, it’s very clear what it would produce, as a matter of constitutional law — President Joe Biden, whose instincts are probably even more isolationist than Obama’s.

That’s a pretty superficial analysis, Ed. What did Friedman say about getting politician to do what electorate wants? The difference between Obama and Biden is that Biden will be running for president and will need to gain the favor of the public.

I’m not saying Biden will be much better than Obama, but at this point in time, he can’t be any worse.

The people who voted him gave him a 4 year mandate.

Bush didn’t resign after thousands of Americans soldiers were killed in a war we should have never been in.

weedisgood on September 2, 2014 at 2:18 PM

More American soldiers have died in Afghanistan under O’bama than died there under Bush.

Using your own “logic”, then, O’bama should resign.

Maybe you’re finally waking up!

Still rolling out that tired old (and false) meme.

Oh well. We’re getting what we deserve for being such a gullible, sheepish lot.

You know why Biden would be better?

We could attack him with out worrying about race.

Liberals would have to defend the actions, not the race of the President.

It is sad, but race is making us a weak country, only because it shields the complete failure of this man, Barack Obama, from criticism of his policies.

I hate that race makes things so very complicated. But it does.

The only threat Clinton faces is from the left. If she makes it out of the primary she will win.

You’re not very bright. If you follow history, which you obviously don’t. It shows that the party that has held the WH for at least 8 yrs. always gets kicked to curb (Bush 1 is exception) because of fatigue with the overreaching idiot that occupied it. After term limits were introduced because of Truman, Ike had 8 yrs., succeeded by Kennedy whose term was finished by LBJ. Next, an R again in Nixon finished by Ford succeeded by Carter. We all know what happened next! Reagan for 8 GW1 for 4. Clinton for 8, GWB for 8, Obama has 8 and that will be the end of the Dem president for at least 8! The fatigue will be so great and the stain on Hilary so large, she WILL NOT win. Write it down.

Agonized parents, widows and orphans of our brave SEAL Team 6 heroes (betrayed by the regime’s Extortion 17 cover-up) have for years been denied their right to bring testimony against Obama before military tribunal on charges of viciously ordering the sinister assassinations (and public desecrations with Muslim curses) of their brave military loved ones’.

Before his Benghazi betrayal, there was Extortion 17. Hussein’s traitorous offenses were meticulously outlined in “Betrayed: The Shocking True Story of Extortion 17 as told by a Navy SEAL’s Father.”

Articles of Impeachment against our Top Cop are overdue. Willfully blind American Leftists must be reminded (over and over again) what their Murtad-in-Chief is desperately hiding.
