Before You Pass Judgment On Rick Perry…

posted at 7:59 pm on August 15, 2014 by Duane Patterson

You ought to see this video first. This is the dash cam footage from the patrol car that pulled over Travis County D.A., Rosemary Lehmberg for DWI.

Here is the booking video when she was taken into custody.

Rick Perry thought her to be a disgrace, and wanted her to resign. She didn’t. So he took the next step and threatened to veto funding for her office. In response, a grand jury handed down an abuse of power indictment for coercive use of a veto late this afternoon. So the woman who was belligerent and intoxicated stays, Rick Perry is the bad guy and needs to go. Right. Got it.

Update: In case you want to give Lehmberg the benefit of the doubt, here is what her blood alcohol level was at the time of her arrest and booking, according to her attorney, David Sheppard.

District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg has pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, was sentenced to 45 days in jail and immediately taken into custody.

Lehmberg’s blood alcohol level registered at 0.23 when she was arrested April 13, her attorney David Sheppard said.

When do we start complaining about the left’s “War on Decency.” They have no morals, no guiding principles – beyond power and control – and no objective basis for their hedonism.

Let’s see the right do some name calling, for once.

Left’s Epic Fail: Rick Perry’s Indictment Could Make Him Unbeatable In 2016

conservativeBC on August 16, 2014 at 4:37 PM
I think the last time I saw denial that intense was…November 2012

Nov 4, 2012: “It is looking more and more like a landslide for Mitt Romney.”

So…why is it you think you can predict how events will go?

Tlaloc on August 16, 2014 at 4:57 PM

Yep, I wrong. I made the mistake of thinking I was wrong, when I when I was right. After the primaries I made the mistake of listening to the pollsters predicting a Romney landslide. And I did start thinking that I had it wrong.

But I was right. Here is what I posted back in February in 2012 – months before your little gocha comment link:

I have been worried ever since the abandoned the Teaparty by not voting for Bachmann. She was the only true conservative running.

Now we are going to settle for another McCain, and lose.

When are people going to learn that the only way to beat the liberals is to run true conservatives? With the base not fired up, we don’t have a chance.

Thanks for giving us Romney; Obama appropriates it.

Romney will lose like John McCain because he will fail to excite the conservative base, and YOU WILL BE THE CAUSE OF ANOTHER FOUR YEARS OF OBAMA.

Here is John McCain and Romney being what they are — RINOs who will always lose to a liberal opponent because they are so much like them they can draw no contrast.

DUMB AS A STUMP: Romney Hiring Gay Spokesman!

There is no way in hell that this dipshit is going to beat Obama.

The Teaparty has giving him a collective yawn. They have put down their signs, said “screw it an went home.” They will not be out campaigning this Fall like they would have if Bachmann or Palin was the nominee. They will be at deer camp.

But it gets worse!

Romney’s chances of winning were already slim, but now after hiring a homosexual to be his spokesman, they are none.

He has just sent home the conservative base — the evangelicals. How smart was that?

If you want to beat liberals — fire up the base by running conservatives. Did people not learn a thing from running the lukewarm conservative McCain in 2008?

Oh well! There is always 2016.

This is nothing more than Obama taking Rick Perry down, like some kind of 3rd world dictator eliminating a political threat. By doing this Obama punishes & strips the governorship from the man who defied his illegal invasion by putting troops on the border, takes out one of the biggest growing threats to Democrats in 2016, & sends a message to all Republicans – “Don’t F* with me or I will take you out – send you to jail – too.”

The sickeningly ironic thing is Perry is getting set up for the abuse of political power of his office…and the guy responsible is the biggest violator of both Constitution & law ever in the US & has the GOP so messed up that they are SWEARING they will never Impeach him no matter what. Obama’s got to be laughing his butt off right now.

I can’t believe no one has clearly stated the reasons this smells like an act of political payback.

The media have been reporting that Perry has been indicted for misuse of public power by an Austin grand jury for threatening to veto funding for the office of Rosemary Lehmberg after she was found guilty of drunk driving in 2013 and refused his request to resign.

However, what has not been noted is that such an indictment must come from the district attorney’s office, and that Austin, Texas, falls under the Travis County District Attorney’s office.

Specifically, criminal acts involving the state government are brought before a grand jury by the Special Prosecution Division, and in Travis County this would be Gregg Cox, who reports to John Neal, the first assistant district attorney, who in turn reports to…

… Rosemary Lehmberg, Travis County District Attorney.

Additionally, Texas criminal procedure for getting a grand jury indictment means that the prosecuting attorney is the only one allowed to present to the grand jury or (outside of minor court personnel like bailiffs, stenographers, interpreters, etc.) even to be in the courtroom during the proceeding. This process does not involve a judge to provide jury instruction on facts of law or a defense attorney to present the defendant’s case.

So essentially an attorney working for Lehmberg convinced the currently empaneled Travis County grand jury to indict Perry, and by Texas law he was the only one allowed to talk to them during this process.

For her to come in a 0.23 and still be coherent, she has to be a raging alcoholic.

I watched all of both videos. She looks like a typical progressive to me. She tries to be nice enough as long as she thinks there is a possibility of getting off. Then, she very subtly hints at who she is, hoping that will work. When that fails, she starts blaming everyone else but herself. From there, she starts issuing veiled threats. Then, she starts trying to pull strings while becoming more belligerent. Finally, she amps it all up in a last desperate attempt to extricate herself from the situation.

You see, she makes and enforces the laws for the little people. She is NOT to be accountable to them. Nor is she to be treated this way by the lousy (and very professional) cops and jailers. Do the not know they work for HER?!

Questions inquiring minds would like to hear answered but will never be asked by the Drive-by media:

1. Was this the first time ever that Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg got behind the wheel drunk as a skunk?
2. Has Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg ever been drunk on duty while serving as county District Attorney?
3. Has Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg shown any other signs of alcoholic behaviour?
4. Has Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg ever been admitted to a treatment center for alcoholism? If so, when, and why was the treatment effective?
5. If Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg is in a 12-step recovery program for alcoholism, why doesn’t she think resigning is a proper form of amend to her constituents?
6. How frequently has Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg been drunk in public?
7. Has Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg ever had auto-body repairs to her vehicles either paid by her personally of by her insurance company?
8. Has Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg ever operated a county vehicle under the influence of alcohol?
9. If the videos of Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg during her arrest and booking capture the “real” Democrat Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg, do her constituents trust her to perform her duties? (If Charlie Rangel can get away with what he gets away with, why can’t she?)

The Legislature passes a bill and the Governor vetoes it. If the Legislature doesn’t like the veto then they can override it. If they override it then it’s law, if they fail to override then it isn’t.
Exactly where is the “abuse of power” in a Governor exercising their prerogative to use the veto power given them by their State Constitution?
Please explain, I’m lost.

Guilt and punishment are for courts and juries to determine, not Rick Perry because he’s decided he wants to be able to get rid of a political opponent. With all the justifiable and correct rage at Obama for him overstepping his bounds, it’s disheartening to see people here willing to let Perry act as judge, jury and executioner just because he happens to be on their side politically.

Straight to the point, this verminous DA committed far more than simply “driving drunk” or having “one too many”. She recklessly endangered every life on the road at the same time as her, and with a BAC that high, you could make a pretty good case for attempted murder or suicide.

Get her out by any means necessary.
