Nothing to worry about: ‘ISIS sympathizer’ arrested at New York City airport

posted at 12:41 pm on August 11, 2014 by Noah Rothman

Those current and former members of America’s intelligence community who are allowed to speak publicly have long been warning that ISIS poses a threat to American national security.

George W. Bush’s former Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor Juan Zarate warned that Iraq has become “a cauldron of future terrorist threats to the west.” Obama’s former acting CIA Director Mike Morell observed that ISIS’s second goal after securing a caliphate in Iraq and Syria is to “use that as a safe haven to attack the United States.” Even Secretary of State John Kerry has cautioned that ISIS may represent a long-term threat to American national security.

Don’t believe your own ears, say Obama administration officials. NBC News White House Correspondent Chris Jansing reported on Monday that the president is not especially concerned about those who are criticizing his approach to the Iraq crisis. The White House is, however, pushing back on the notion that Obama is not doing enough to address what appears to be a nascent threat to the U.S. homeland.

“They say there is nothing in the intelligence that suggests that ISIS is prepared or even as interest in attacking the U.S. homeland,” Jansing revealed.

In a poetic turn of events, this statement was proven not especially well-founded within an hour when CNN reported that an alleged “ISIS sympathizer” had been arrested at JFK airport in New York City.

CNN’s Evan Perez reported that Donald Ray Morgan, an American who recently returned from Germany, was arrested in JFK after sending out a variety of messages on social media in support of ISIS militants in Iraq and Syria. Morgan had also reportedly spent some time in Lebanon. He was denied bond by a judge after being arrested on illegal weapons trafficking and possession charges.

Of course, seeing as the rise of ISIS in the Mideast represents no threat to American national security, this is probably just the administration being thorough.

Haven’t the Obama administration been claiming that ‘intel’ let them down and failed to warn them about ISIS’ explosion in Syria and Iraq?

Maybe, the O’Ad should start paying attention to alternative media since, those that read it, have known about the threat for months or even longer.

In Obama’s mind he is completely correct in asserting that al queda has been degraded. He fails to note that the reason for this is that ISIS is the big dog in the hunt now and that al queda people are moving in droves to the new organization. JV team indeed. The administration now claims there is no indication that ISIS has not made any plans to come to the US. In a year now we will find out that intelligence indeed indicated that ISIS was a threat to the US homeland and that the white house ignored those warnings. It’s not that I am fascist that I hate Obama, it is that he is trying to get us all killed.

You’ve got Ned all wrong. He’s not complaining about Obama, he’s complaining about the reporting of this story. Just contradicting Obama is “fear mongering” and “Scaring the population.” Why, we should make sure that only stories approved by the Obama administration should be published.

It’s to protect those poor, easily scared people in Peoria that we have to gut the 1st Amendment, see. The only approved topics should be:

1) Obama is awesome
2) Republicans are racist haters who should be sent to the camps
3) You are so blessed to have Obama as your El Presidente for life
4) Cheering for Obama is mandatory.

See? Just look at how concerned and thoughtful Obama and the liberals are! Right Ned?

There may be nothing “in the intelligence that suggests…” but ISIS were quoted in the newspapers I readed on the internettubes as saying they want to attack America in America. I suppose quoting someone doesn’t count for libs, eh?

I take real comfort in the fact they are the junior varsity…

Could it be possible that our Preezy is so farkin’ intelligent he doesn’t listen to our intel? I only ask because he still is saying our intel is not to be trusted, but evidence indicates everyone outside the US knows ISIS is extremely dangerous.

Well, at least we have a strong Atty Genl to prosecute them after they blow something up.

Yeah, right.

CHICAGO (WLS) — As U.S. airstrikes are underway, the ABC7 I-Team looked into the militant army that has taken over Iraq known as “ISIS,” which stands for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, and found a chilling connection to Chicago.

ISIS fighters in Iraq are 6,400 miles from Chicago, but the I-Team has found that a new recruitment tool aimed at prospective ISIS jihadists features the Chicago skyline. This picture of Chicago comes as ISIS already is suspected of having dozens of Americans in combat roles in Iraq and Syria and the group’s leaders are pledging to expand their offensive to American and European targets.

Newly-released ISIS recruitment videos feature English-speaking men appealing to Americans to join the fight in Iraq and Syria.

“While you know your brothers are on the front lines facing the bullets and bombs while you are sitting in comfort while you’re sleeping and going shopping, they are giving the blood,” said an ISIS fighter in a recruitment video.

This man identifies himself as American in one video. The producer of ISIS videos also distributes a magazine named Azan, a call to jihad. It is similar to an al Qaeda magazine published in the years after 9/11…
