Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

posted at 8:01 am on August 10, 2014 by Allahpundit

Nothing much going on this Sunday morning on the chat shows except for Putin preparing to gobble up eastern Ukraine, ISIS preparing to gobble up Kurdistan, and Obama preparing to gobble up what’s left of separation of powers with his looming executive order on amnesty. Seems like a moment that might warrant an appearance by a cabinet member, if not The One himself, but as I write this no one from the administration is scheduled to appear. It’s left to former Obama appointees, like ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey and national security advisor James Jones, to pick up the slack on “Face the Nation” and “State of the Union” respectively. Hmmm.

It’s a good day for Republican hawks, though. McCain will also be on “State of the Union,” Lindsey Graham will lead on “Fox News Sunday,” and Kelly Ayotte will appear on “Political Capital” on Bloomberg TV. Where are the doves? Or are there any when it comes to ISIS? The full line-up is at Politico.

Oh Please. Hasn’t the boy king already agreed to come back to the White House for TWO days during his much deserved vacation?? And you want him to show up on a Sunday show when there’s golfing that needs to be done, and hamburgers that need to be eaten? Making all the wrong decisions is hard- a guy needs a break.

Welcome to the DNC Media Propaganda Hour, kids! Join the DNC Media for all of the (lefty) opinions that Americans need to hear as we survey once again the wreckage brought on by the foreign policy stupidity of O’Bozo – the Clown President – in his spot-on reenactment of the Jimmy Carter Presidency.

This week we get the now-almost-boring-routine of laughing at O’Bozo and yet another stunningly predictable disaster resulting from his stupidity and juvenile politics. We will be joined by Diane Feinberg, Greasy Joe Blivet, and any number of O’Bozo’s fellow Democrats as they second guess his judgment, his grasp of military concepts, his honesty, his sanity, his work ethic … (etc., ad nauseum)

Let’s have a gander:

“Meet the Press” on NBC
• Dick the Weenie Durbin – Kook Left Fringe
• Peter King – Good grief, really? RINO
• Donna Edwards – Kook Left Fringe
• Moderator – Activist Liberal

NBC – Nothing But teh Crazy

“Face the Nation” on CBS
• Jack Reed – Kook Left Fringe
• James Jeffrey – Career Foreign Service (Liberal)
• Bob Woodward – Liberal Journalist
• Carl Bernstein – Kook Left Fringe
• Moderator – Immoderate Liberal

See a pattern beginning to emerge?

“This Week” on ABC
• Carter Ham – Best just to say NA.
• Moderator – Immoderate Liberal

Is ABC really going to spend the whole hour wringing their hands over PTSD and ignore the actual news? Really?

“Fox News Sunday” on Fox
• Lindsey Graham – RINO
• Ben Cardin – Kook Left Fringe
• Chris Coons – Kook Left Fringe
• John Engler – RINO
• Moderator – Liberal Journalist

Four shows come and gone, and not a single lonely voice that anyone could mistake for an actual conservative.

“State of the Union” on CNN
• John McCain – RINO jackass
• James Jones – NA (40 years in Marine Corps, Iraq duty … then flushed it all with NSA under O’Bozo)
• Zalmay Khalilzad – Afghan Muzzie and GWB’s token to the Religion of Pieces – NA
• Moderator – Activist Liberal

And the beat goes on.

“Political Capital” on Bloomberg TV
• Kelly Ayotte – RINO
• Steve Israel – Kook Left Fringe
• Moderator – Activist Liberal

“Newsmakers” on C-SPAN
• Tim Phillips

For the love of all that is right … finallyConservative

“Al Punto” on Univision
• Rand Paul – Libertarian (Despite his immaculately conservative voting record, I can’t say it.)
• John Brennan – Crooked D.C. insider and spook

Summary: I honestly don’t remember a week this pathetic, but during the week when O’Bozo’s political raison d’etre is crushed like a sissy European cigarette on the flight deck of the Abraham Lincoln during GW Bush’s Mission Accomplished declaration? If this isn’t propaganda, then it doesn’t exist.

The world is aflame, O’Bozo is definitively exposed as a nitwit, a liar, and a joke … and there is exactly one conservatives brought into the discussion to point this out, plus a handful of the same old-same old Sunday Morning RINOs, the activist Democrat/Liberal media tools, and the kookiest of the Kook Left Fringe.

Say goodnight, America.

It’s left to former Obama appointees, like ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey and national security advisor James Jones, to pick up the slack on “Face the Nation” and “State of the Union” respectively. Hmmm.

Because no one wants to answer, “Was it a mistake not to leave more US troops in Iraq? Did Biden blow the SOFA? Will the same thing happen in Afghanistan?”

I’ve been wondering why Hillary, who reportedly was opposed to Obama’s pull-out, hasn’t used this to distance herself. But then, she may be on record as later publicly supporting – and she does have to keep an eye to the left.

I did see this over at Times of Israel:

Former US secretary of state and potential presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton issued a staunch defense of Israel over its conduct of the war against Hamas, placed full ultimate responsibility on Hamas for the deaths of children and other innocent people, and defended Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence on maintaining security control in the West Bank in the next few years.

In an interview published Sunday by Jeffrey Goldberg for The Atlantic, she also urged an “overarching” US strategy to confront Islamic terrorism, equating this struggle to the one the US waged against communism.

She spoke of the “failure” that arose from the Obama administration’s decision not to aid the initial uprising against Syria’s President Bashar Assad, which created a vacuum now filled by jihadists.

And overall, she indicated that she considered President Barack Obama’s approach to foreign policy to be too cautious. Responding to Obama’s self-described foreign policy doctrine of: “Don’t do stupid shit,” Clinton, who served as his top diplomat for four years between 2009 and 2013, said: “Great nations need organizing principles, and ‘Don’t do stupid stuff’ is not an organizing principle.”

Obama preparing to gobble up what’s left of separation of powers with his looming executive order on amnesty.

Since congress isn’t fighting back against Obama’s imperialism, the states should.

All the governors should get together and issue a statement saying that the states won’t recognize the legal validity of any residency or work authorizations issued by the executive branch to illegal aliens, unless or until such authorizations have been explicitly approved by congress.

Just because Obama wants to violate the constitution and his oath of office doesn’t mean the rest of us have to go along with it.

The game the regime is playing is to see how far they can go before the far right explodes into violence which will change the venue from what they do to what we are doing. This what it’s all about.
When you analyze it it’s a brilliant strategy if you are a hardcore communist hell bent on destroying the country and producing chaos world wide.
If the hard right sits back and does nothing they keep doing sh_t that makes us crazy. Open borders, ebola, irs, Isis in Iraq, you name it they will do it. If the far right does take action they win and federal troops will soon be firing on US citizens: the goal all along.
So they have a win-win political strategy either away.
Brilliantly played as well. Too bad we don’t have a clue about political strategy on our side.

I agree that Obama will keep pushing the limits to see how far his lawlessness can go before there is serious pushback. That’s why I think the states should get together and draw a line. This isn’t a Democrat or Republican issue anymore. We have a power-mad executive shredding the constitution, and daring us to stop him.

Call me crazy or stupid but, since our government seems to be drifting into a parliamentary form … where one party seems to rule and the legislative branch is a rubber stamp for the executive … why can’t 34 states get together to amend the constitution to provide for a “no confidence” vote on the president during every mid-term election? Not sure how this would play out specifically but it sure would keep a rogue president in line.

So dead-on true. The comment about Steyn is perfect. He is one of my all-time favorite commentators:

Syzygy on August 10, 2014 at 8:57 AM

Perfectly said and absolutely true. I hate to sound like a broken record but I keep going back to Jeff Sessions and his vote to confirm Eric Holder as AG. Sessions gets a lot of praise for trying to hold the line on illegal immigration these days, but how could such a guy vote to confirm Holder? What are we missing?

Something is very wrong with the GOP…no one ever tries to reverse last year’s damage. Another case in point: Paul Ryan’s budget proposal. Think about what he did there.

Photos of the horrors of war really bring it home. Some of those on the talk shows who are in the know, their faces seem to reflect what’s going on there, showing an apparent visceral pain, anguish, revulsion, incredulity, a measured, serious tone, a begrudging acceptance of something horrible. Even in some of his recent press conferences, for a few moments, Obama’s s***-eating grin is absent, along with his “I’m so cool, I don’t care about anything” demeanor. Thanks for small favors.
