In WV-03 Democrat Nick Rahall schedules rally against outside money… while refusing to sign pledge against outside money

posted at 8:31 am on August 2, 2014 by Jazz Shaw

Sometimes the irony and the hypocrisy in American politics is just too rich to ignore. Another hilarious, classic case comes to us from the closely contested race in West Virginia’s 3rd District, where Nick Rahall (D-WV 3) is fighting to hang on to his seat against Republican challenger Evan Jenkins. Rahall and his friends are upset about outside groups spending money on this race, so much so that they’re all getting together for a rally to declare that West Virginia is not for sale!

The City of Logan is set to host the West Virginia Democratic Party on Saturday for a state-wide political rally.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and the West Virginia Democratic Party will host a “West Virginia is Not For Sale” Democratic Unity Event to rally and mobilize West Virginians for victory in November. The event is open to the public.

In attendance will be: Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, Secretary of State and U.S. Senate candidate Natalie Tennant, Congressman Nick Rahall and WV Democratic Party Chair Larry Puccio.

That should show all those nasty, big money groups. And it’s good that Rahall is so adamantly opposed to outside spending, particularly since a golden opportunity arose to put his lack of money where his mouth is. Jenkins made him the kind of offer he clearly couldn’t refuse.

Friday morning, Jenkins proposed a ban on all spending by outside groups and on campaign donations from political action committees — after such groups already have played a significant role in the campaign for both candidates…

Jenkins’ proposal would have required both candidates to reject all spending from groups that are unaffiliated with the campaign.

Problem solved, right? And I’m sure Congressman Rahall was not only gracious, but thrilled to have the chance to reach out to his opponent and join together on this important subject. So how did he phrase his acceptance?

About two and a half hours later, Rahall’s campaign emphatically declined to participate, saying it was too late.

It takes a special brand of political cojones to hold a rally against outside spending only 24 hours after refusing a pledge to forgo such funding. But let’s see if we have Rahall’s policy straight here. So… outside money is bad, unless it’s being spent on me? Got it. Thanks for the clarification, Nick!

Typical Dem Playbook stuff. Demagogue against an unpopular political behavior or policy, take full advantage of the practices, then blame the ‘pubs for not coming on board ‘against’ the behaviors/policies.

Democrats would sell their own mothers to get elected … if they have mothers that is.

So that’s why Rahall voted for restricting DACA last nite in the House! Got a tough battle with the R Jenkins…lot of illegal alien angst in WVa…just watch Joe Manchin in the Senate voting with the R’s and that’ll give you a very good idea.

I noticed that too. At the same time, I see that among the GOP reps who voted against the measure (see below) are two from Colorado, including the GOP’s Senate candidate (Gardner). Oy. Guess he fears all those illegal immigrants who’ll be voting with their new CO drivers licenses. I don’t get Kinzinger’s vote or Upton’s vote. I assume at least four are tribal votes. I don’t know anything about Reichert (WA), while Denham, I believe, is an amnesty warrior.

The Republicans who voted against are Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Jeff Denham (R-CA), Cory Gardner (R-CO), Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), David Reichert (R-WA), David Valadao (R-CA), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Joe Heck (R-NV), Fred Upton (R-MI), Mark Amodei (R-NV), and Mike Coffman (R-CO).

Kinzinger’s excuse is he’s a prick. I saw him on Greta Thursday nite with a hottie Democratic congresswoman and they were talking about how well they worked together (code words for boinking in my book with those 2)…so I figure that was his little gift to her before he nailed her again in a Friday nite tryst.
Gardner is very close to knocking off Udahl….lotta Mexicans in Colorado but I don’t know what they are doing up there except hiding out in the hills, pretending to be Sioux progeny and harvesting cabbage. Hope Gardner takes it.
Heck and Amodei gotta watch their steps in Reids den.

While we’re talking about congressional races, my congressman is Ander Crenshaw and he’s so full of it. His ads talk about how tough he is on the IRS, repealing Obamacare, blocking amnesty, and honoring our vets. Let’s see, the IRS commits perjury weekly, Obamacare is still imploding, the GOP probably passed amnesty last night and doesn’t even realize it, and the VA is still murdering veterans. Yet, the Republicans around here will think, “Oh, that Ander is doing a swell job” and vote for him anyway since he there’s that (R) behind his name. So stupid.

BTW, he voted for Boehner twice and he refuses to distance himself. Therefore, a vote for Crenshaw is a vote for Speaker John Boehner.

Mini-rant over.

Democrats only have one moral standard, The End justifies the Means. Nick Rahall is displaying that moral standard in all of it’s Progressive liberal Marxist democrat glory.

Another Progressive liberal Marxist democrat who embodies that moral standard is Killary Klinton. Killary is in moral peril of her political career as she will soon have to face Pennsylvania Congressman Trey Gowdy has he chairs the House Select Committee to investigate the 2012 Benghazi attack.

Give her hell Trey, give her and the entire Obamanation Administration hell.

Believe Rahall voted with R’s on immigration .
Ok , it’s something .

THIS.
This is how to fight these hypocrats. Don’t dismiss this as a local issue.
THIS can be used on every lying liberal running for office. Call their bluff. McCain did it with Barack Ebola in 2008- granted the Pravda LSM ignored the attempt to restrain campaign financing- but it exposed the Liar for his deception.
.
THIS is how you fight the liars- EXPOSE them.

They certainly have Mothers, but if they are Democratics it’s much more likely that they have never met their Fathers.

slickwillie2001 on August 2, 2014 at 11:44 AM

This isn’t surprising. I wrote here about the ad Pelosi’s PAC ran against Rahall’s opponent.

I also wrote in that article about the defamatory ad Pelosi’s PAC ran against Stewart Mills, the Republican candidate in Minnesota’s Eighth District.

That ad turned 3 paragraphs and 128 words spoken about economic growth into a 22-word sentence that dishonestly accused Mills of wanting tax breaks for the rich.

It’s going to be a tough year for Democrats & they know it. That’s why they’re running pants-on-fire ads this early.

What a collection of losers. Caputo is a rino for sure but the dem party in WVa is sorry bunch of hacks. Party Chairman Larry Puccio, former Manchin top aid, is bankrolled by Penn National Gaming. Between a fall in gaming revenues which account for a third of the State’s revenues and “the dems war on coal” the State is a few short years away from financial ruin. Sell your bonds.
