TEMS Friday: Guest hosting the Hugh Hewitt Show

posted at 5:13 pm on August 1, 2014 by Ed Morrissey

The Ed Morrissey Show will be pre-empted all week as I guest host for Hugh Hewitt on the Salem Radio Network, from Hugh’s studio in Southern California. My main mission this week has been covering the Pittsburgh Steelers’ training camp in anticipation of their march to their seventh Super Bowl title, but we’ll try squeezing in a little current affairs and politics topics as well. I’m preparing for all events in my final appearance, as you can see …

We have another great line-up for today:

Adam Baldwin, star of the hit new TNT series The Last Ship, joins us by phone today rather than in studio as we had earlier announced. We’ll talk to him about his new show and about the impact on American prestige and power of the various crises erupting around the world. We’ll also take your calls at 800-520-1234!  Be sure to join the Hughniverse to watch the show live on streaming video, or tune in to your local Salem affiliate to hear it in the air, starting at 6 ET.

Holy **** Adam Baldwin’s hair!

Ed, I hope you can pass on to Adam just how much respect most Conservatives have for him to be Conservative and vocal amid the very progressive crowd that makes up the entertainment business.

Salutes, Mr Baldwin.

Baldwin played a great a-hole in Ordinary People.

Bummed this won’t be on replay, or will it be outside of the Hughniverse?
Good lineup, except for Chuck Todd.

Ditto. He’s always out there speaking up for our side, and doing it with class.

Politically, he has been a registered Democrat since 1980,[6] but states that he re-examined his views after being given a copy of David Horowitz’s book Radical Son.[7] He now considers himself a “small government conservative libertarian”,[8] and has contributed to The Huffington Post[9] and Big Hollywood.[10]

Recently he has become an avid supporter of Ride 2 Recovery, a bike-riding organization set up for the rehabilitation of wounded veterans. He participated in the 2009 “Don’t Mess With Texas Challenge” bike ride.[11][12]

He was awesome as Jayne in “Firefly.”

Adam Baldwin, star of the hit new TNT series The Last Ship,

This is on my very short must-watch list.

I remember him as Linderman from his very first movie, My Bodyguard. Watching Next of Kin introduced me to both Liam Neeson and Ben Stiller. Of course, who could forget Full Metal Jacket.

Yep, he’s getting older so it naturally follows that I am too.

We pay for each episode of The Last Ship on iTunes, first because Adam Baldwin is in it, and now because it’s the best new show on television. He’s a sure bet.

Animal Mother.

Linderman! (“Shut up!”)

Animal Mother! (“He talks the talk, but can he walk the walk?”)

A man called Jayne! (“How’s it sit? Pretty cunning, don’t you think?”)

John Casey!

My favorite of the Baldwin clan, for many reasons.

The Last Ship has turned out rather well, thank goodness. He makes a fine XO.
