Video: Joan Rivers slams media’s anti-Israel bias in TMZ rant

posted at 10:01 pm on July 28, 2014 by Mary Katharine Ham

This happened this weekend, but I feel it deserves a moment of reflection. Hey, you ask Joan Rivers for her feelings on Hamas at the airport and you’ll get a full helping of Joan Rivers. The increasingly unapologetic comedienne takes this opportunity to explain how self-defense works:

“Let me just tell you, if New Jersey were firing rockets into New York, we would wipe them out. I am so bored,” said Rivers. “You cannot throw rockets and expect people not to defend themselves.”

The reporter then asked Rivers about Hamas using civilians as human shields, and Rivers retorted, “I don’t care. They started it! You’re all insane!”

Rivers continued, “BBC should be ashamed of themselves, and CNN should be ashamed of themselves, and everybody stop it already!”

Along with Mike Bloomberg, she’s been unexpectedly after my heart on a couple issues lately. Click the image below to watch.

Israel should make it clear: We’re going through the shield to get to the terrorist, if you don’t want to be a shield then do something about the terrorist before we do.

The PALS really are some of the dumbest people on Earth, they celebrate Hamas firing rockets but do nothing when their families are forced to stand around the launch sites.

I thought it was great when I first saw this, which is the full piece
Checked TMZ tv for it, and they didn’t even play their entire clip.
None of the stuff about the civilians made it on the air.
Thankfully, they also didn’t rip her to shreds over it.

Joan Rivers is 82, right? Her skin is in really good shape for that age. Anyway, she’s definitely old enough to have gotten some sense of the Holocaust when that happened. And all these countries around Israel want to totally destroy Israel, wipe it off the face of the map, kill everyone there. It would be worse than another Holocaust. Insane that people aren’t more vocal in saying we got to stand up against this. Maybe some infants have been killed here or there, but the Palestinians are talking about killing every single Israeli. Why this moral equivalency?

Notice how Joan mentions that she’s been to Israel. I think that adds to her passion. If you’ve had the privilege of going there, as I did 20 years ago, you have a much better sense of how hemmed in the Israelis are by those who seek their destruction (past, present and future enemies included). We really can’t fathom that here in the States–yet.

Video: Joan Rivers slams media’s anti-Israel bias in TMZ rant

It’s amusing watching these Jewish Liberal celebrities get all bent out of shape when something is bad for Israel-but the other 99% of the time, they rigidly support all things Dem and Liberal…that is, they routinely support the same people who side with the Palestinians against Israel.

They are simply incapable of making the connection. They want to feel superior and “with it” by being Libs, but don’t like it when Liberalism leads to something they don’t like.

They’d be soooo much happier if they could blame the Republicans.

Dr. ZhivBlago on July 29, 2014 at 2:37 AM

Joan’s jewish though, so her opinion is biased

nonpartisan on July 28, 2014 at 10:12 PM

That does not in any way diminish the truth in her words.

I’m not entirely a friend of Israel, as my comments on ‘Imwas prove. But I will say this — the guys who have lobbed almost 11,000 missiles in 15 years at civilians in Israel are as bad as the settlers who killed Palestinian farmers and chopped down their orchards to drive them from their land. The government of Israel, in supporting these acts, perpetrates the violence between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

But Israel, as does any sovereign state, has the right to defend its people.

I’d have far more sympathy than I already do for the Palestinians in Gaza had they made Gaza into something worth living in. Instead, the government in Gaza — Hamas — has made warfare their primary goal and services to the citizenry secondary. Well, they wanted war, and they’ve got war. Perhaps the citizenry will now rethink their decision to vote in the Hamas government, although, as the people who originally elected Hugo Chavez as president of Venezuela have learned, once you allow a despot to take control of the government, it’s pretty hard to get him and his peers out.

easyt65 on July 29, 2014 at 12:20 PM

We Americans have this impulse to root for the underdog. We like it when the beautiful, rich and privileged get their comeuppance. We can’t help ourselves.

But when we see the strong but gentle giant getting poked and slapped, by the obnoxious little guy, and yet just standing there and taking it patiently, we all secretly hope that the giant will have enough and stomp a mud-hole in the little guy’s guts.

It is our tolerance of Hamas provocations that directly encourage their escalation of hostilities. They rely upon our forcing restraint upon Israel to allow them to get away with acts that no one anywhere would take from anyone.

This whole situation and all of the world’s bloviating could be resolved by one of the neighboring countries carving off a block of their sparsely-populated land and giving it to the Gazans and West Bankers for a country. But nobody really wants them to have a country. They just want them to have a cause so that they can be used to attack Israel as a proxy. When it all boils down, what you have left is Jew hatred.
