O’Malley wouldn’t fulfill Obama request to take in immigrants because conservatives might attack them

posted at 8:41 am on July 16, 2014 by Noah Rothman

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley wants to be the next President of the United States, and he’s just brazenly hypocritical enough for the job.

O’Malley recently won praise from the left with a bleeding heart speech before a group of reporters over the scale of the humanitarian crisis at the southern border. “We are not a country that should send children away and send them back to certain death,” O’Malley said to reporters attending a National Governors Association conference last week.

“I believe that we should be guided by the greatest power we have as a people, and that is the power of our principles,” he continued. “Through all of our great world religions, we are told that hospitality to strangers is an essential human dignity.”

The Maryland governor was seen as criticizing the White House and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who have both insisted that the vast majority of those crossing the border should be deported back to their home countries.

But when O’Malley’s rhetoric needed to be met with actions beyond passing wildly popular DREAM legislation in his state, Maryland’s governor is a bit more cautious. When the White House asked the presidential aspirant to house some of the unaccompanied minors crossing the border in a Western Maryland facility, O’Malley balked.

Hours after making that speech which was well-received by the left-of-center media, he received a call from White House in which he was asked curtly why he was actively trying to block some immigrant children from being warehoused in his state.

“O’Malley told [Domestic Policy Director Cecilia] Muñoz not to send any of the children to the facility in Westminster, Md., that the White House was looking at,” Politico reported. “It’s a conservative part of the state, he warned. The children were at risk of getting harassed, or worse, he said.”

What a noble display of faith in the public O’Malley governs.

CNN described the conversation between O’Malley and the White House as “heated.”

“A senior O’Malley administration official acknowledged the governor’s comments last Friday irritated senior White House officials, prompting the call from Munoz to O’Malley,” CNN reported.

“Through all of our great world religions, we are told that hospitality to strangers is an essential human dignity.”

Progressive Atheists who hate religion and constantly screaming about Separation of Church and State are now trying to tell us that the Charity of Islam is indistinguishable from Christianity.

I just love how arrogant and manipulative Progs are.

So why were so many bigwig Maryland politicians against the proposed illegal alien shelter in Baltimore? Surely they aren’t going to argue that’s a conservative part of the state…

http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2014/07/shock-video-illegals-arrive-in-bus-and-shop-at-walmart-with-ebt-cards/

Sylvia Locklear was on her lunch break Sunday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. when she noticed something strange happening in the parking lot of Walmart in Concord, NC – there was busloads of what appeared to be adult illegal immigrants being dropped off to shop for everything from food to pillows and blankets. Angered by her discovery, Sylvia decided she was going to investigate a little further, and what she found should outrage every American citizen.

In the video above, Sylvia can be heard talking to another person who presumably was curious about what was going on, so she explained to them that prior to taking the video she had tried to talk to the people on the bus. Not only could they barely speak English, but one of them had said they had just arrived in America.

We all know that this has been happening, however, the sheriff of her town had said that they weren’t allowing any illegals to be shipped in, so it would appear as if the Obama regime is once again placing undue burdens on the states and not even letting them know what’s going on. What’s worse is that in the comments under the video she posted to Facebook, Sylvia said that when she was in line behind them that they were using government-issued EBT cards to pay for their purchases.

O’Malley is just another face of the Establishment, part of the bought and paid for Big Business cabal that apparently owns the Government and it’s politicians.

Oh please, Lord, let O’Malley be the nominee in 2016. That position alone will lose him the election. People can publicly put on whatever bleeding heart face they want. Bottom line is in private no one wants these kids and especially the adults here. And that’s right now. Imagine how much more one-sided this debate will be in another 2 years if Obama sits on his ass and does nothing to stop the wave of illegals coming here.

When the White House asked the presidential aspirant to house some of the unaccompanied minors crossing the border in a Western Maryland facility, O’Malley balked.

Two points:

First, the administration wanted to house these filthy invaders in the only Republican district in Maryland. Essentially foisting the illegals on taxpayers who did not vote for the Democrats instead of sending them to someplace like Prince Georges County or Baltimore with pleny of parasites already.

Secondly, somebody protested the idea of putting the illegals up at an old Army Reserve facility by spraypainting “No Illeagles” on the building. State of Maryland public education aside, this is now being treated as a hate crime.

Westminster(best-known until now as the home of Whitaker Chambers during the Alger Hiss battle) being considered ‘Western Maryland’ by Gov. O’Malley is kind of like people in New York City considering White Plains to be ‘Upstate’ — The area all the way out to Hagerstown nowadays is mainly bedroom communities for either Washington, D.C. and/or Baltimore (and O’Malley may be the only politician in the universe who thinks the suburban/rural parts of his state are more dangerous than Baltimore for any human being).

CNN described the conversation between O’Malley and the White House as “heated.”

O’Malley: “NIMBY!”

I’ve put this in two Headlines threads. CIS, Mark Krikorian’s outfit, has released a report concluding that the applicability of the 2008 anti-trafficking law to the hordes of Central American kids coming flooding in to the US is a crock. These kids haven’t been trafficked and they aren’t “unaccompanied.” Under the law, they’re considered unaccompanied only if they arrive without a parent (I see a lot of mothers in the pictures and clips) and they have no parent or legal guardian in the U.S. available to care for them. It’s naive to think that adults are sending kids up here with no one to care for them. They are being summoned by parents who are already here.

Reunite the families, and deport the whole bunch.

Probably coolrepublica’s husband. Such imagined stupidity is reminiscent of the following.

That’s nice. Again it’s the kind of attitude that is great to have. About 9 years ago I drove through Alabama. I had the same great attitude you have then before I drove through Alabama. And then I made a few stops in Alabama. Every stop I made, I was reminded of how black I was. Alabama Was the university I never thought I would go to, and I went through that course in 1 day. I have never been stared at so much in my life. My husband is white so maybe it was him being with me. people were literally standing around our car staring at us. Everywhere. I am pretty, but I am not that damn beautiful. When I went to the convenience store people were looking at me as if I was about to steal their kids. lol

Ok, imagine those Steven King movies when the stranger comes to town and everybody is wondering what that person is doing in this town before they off that person off. Yeah I felt like I was in a Steven king novel. The whole state of Alabama was a freaky novel. Maybe I hit all the rough patches at once. lol But I was reminding of my blackness in the state of Alabama. So I make it a point to teach my not white looking child, that even though she her siblings are both from my vajayjay, she will always get the looks the others don’t get in Alabama. And I explain the history as to why that is. I am just being honest with my child.

I remember when the Hmongs and Vietnamese moved to Minnesota they were having their homes burned down on a daily basis. That was in North Minneapolis. That’s one reason they won’t bring them to Baltimore. Libs project a lot.

The other reason is that it will drag down Maryland’s schools, wages and create unemployment. They want conservative states to be the dumping ground for this. Maryland also already has enough Democrat voters. The thing about our political dichotomy of parasite v host is that there is an optimal amount of parasites and when you have overage it’s competition. CONFIRMED: SENATE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP PAID FOR RACIST ADS

Attack ads in Mississippi run by “All Citizens for Mississippi” were funded by Senate Republicans, including Senators Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, Rob Portman, Bob Corker, and Roy Blunt. It appears our Senate Republican leaders are willing to risk losing a Senate majority so long as they can get their own re-elected. Yes folks, it is true.

The advertisements attacked Mississippi State Senator Chris McDaniel and painted conservative Republicans and tea party activists as racists. According to documents filed with the Federal Elections Commission, All Citizens for Mississippi received funding from a Haley Barbour backed group called Mississippi Conservatives.

Mississippi Conservatives, in turn, was funded in part by Sally Bradshaw of the RNC’s Growth and Opportunity Project, former RNC Chairman and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, the United States Chamber of Commerce, and the political action committees created for Senators Mitch McConnell ($50,000), John Cornyn ($50,000), Rob Portman ($25,000), Bob Corker ($25,000), and Roy Blunt ($5,000).

Interestingly, Sally Bradshaw ( Jeb Bush’s Tokyo Rove) and Henry Barbour (Haley Barbour’s nephew) worked on the autopsy of the 2012 GOP loss.

BuckeyeSam on July 16, 2014 at 9:30 AM

right2bright on July 16, 2014 at 9:27 AM

We’ll wait while you disprove any of it.

We note that you don’t mind what they did, just the source that reported it – one among many I might add.

Akzed on July 16, 2014 at 9:32 AM

Why aren’t we hearing about this from GOP members of Congress first? Don’t answer, I know already. BuckeyeSam on July 16, 2014 at 9:29 AM

Sorry, I couldn’t resist that hanging curve ball.

The Obama administration has been deliberately misreading the Wilberforce Act (the 2008 child trafficking law that they claim requires them to not deport UACs until after they get an asylum hearing).

By its terms, the 2008 law doesn’t even apply to illegal alien kids who already have family in the U.S. — which describes the vast majority of the kids coming over the border currently. Yet the Obama administration is pretending that the law prohibits them from deporting these kids too.

Yet again, the Obama administration deliberately ignores federal laws that don’t suit Obama’s political purposes. He’s lying and pretending that the 2008 law prevents him from deporting the majority of illegal alien kids currently flooding over our border — even though it clearly does not — because he wants to use the kids as leverage to get the amnesty law he wants.

AZCoyote on July 16, 2014 at 9:36 AM

So why were so many bigwig Maryland politicians against the proposed illegal alien shelter in Baltimore? Surely they aren’t going to argue that’s a conservative part of the state…

CJ on July 16, 2014 at 8:46 AM

Because they have to find a “site that meets the unique needs of these vulnerable children” , silly.

Streets are too busy at one site, too many Republicans live near the next….doesn’t sound like those Democrat politicians are going to find a location that is just right until it’s over the state line.

BuckeyeSam on July 16, 2014 at 9:30 AM

No, quoting from a known liberal source that has for years distorted what they have been reporting can’t be trusted…do you totally trust the NYT?

When it comes from several sources, than I will take it seriously…any one, any thing, can be “reported”…After all, the IRS held up permits because of suspect filings. Of course you believe them, right?

Good, than she should have learned to use reliable sources…that is what I stated btw, not that it was wrong, or not true…just that Redstate is not a reliable source.

If they are the “first” to report it, than you have to look at why a partisan, left wing, hack site gets the report first…

I am sure you think the 5 most dangerous weapons was from a “reliable source” also?

right2bright on July 16, 2014 at 9:46 AM

More like he’s afraid that the Blacks will create trouble for the Hispanics, and those optics are not in his favor.

The Left is so cocooned that they think everyone thinks as they do; that’s why they are so persistend at projecting their own biases and fears onto everyone else.

There is always a straw-filled bogeyman out there to serve as their scapegoat.

ss396 on July 16, 2014 at 9:50 AM

It’s nice to know another Democrat seeking the Presidency has no principles. How do these people get elected? Politics never leaves their heads and it guides everything they do. There are some Republicans like this, I’m sure, but when they get in trouble is when they actually act on their principles and Democrats attack them mercilessly. Perhaps this is why Democrats have no principles because they’re afraid Republicans will return the favor.

Did I miss a memo somewhere? Admittedly I rarely read RedState, but since when is it a liberal site?

NotCoach on July 16, 2014 at 9:52 AM

I’m not getting that either. Maryland is a mess.

Bmore on July 16, 2014 at 8:58 AM

Maryland might be a mess. But I lived in Westminster for more than 10 years and there’s nothing wrong with it other than the fact that Carroll county doesn’t agree politically with the leftist agenda.

The Western counties are already fed up with O’Malley and his ilk. He just doesn’t want to give them more reason to push for secession.

Murf76 on July 16, 2014 at 9:53 AM

right2bright on July 16, 2014 at 9:46 AM

RedState is also a Townhall owned site, as is Hot Air.

NotCoach on July 16, 2014 at 9:55 AM

We have reached the point where more talk is useless. If you want your county back you’ll have to take it back from these slime bag PROGs. That means getting used to the fact that at some point in the near future you’ll actually have to fight them in a physical sense…

Thanks. Yes I thought Carroll county was still red. I have driven the I70 corridor and do see the radical changes that are occurring out that direction. Still looks red on the map to me. ; ) That said Md hasn’t much of a chance unless the liberal(leftist) creep can be slowed down out that direction. I personally rate Md as one of the States most likely to fail.

You are wrong about Red State.

lineholder on July 16, 2014 at 10:02 AM

I wonder if anyone has the resources and time to look at the particular communities that Obama has tried to place small groups of illegal alien children?

What is the political makeup of those places? Conservative maybe.

Anyone wonder if Obama is trying to force a fight? Or in the least, make those who protest in those communities look cold and uncaring.

It can’t be a co-inky-dinky.

Bmore on July 16, 2014 at 10:06 AM

I live in MD. Trust me, don’t send those kids to Westminster. Not even MD citizens want to live in that area of the state. They would be burned at the stake.

BoehnerTears on July 16, 2014 at 8:47 AM

Pretty ignorant comment. Carroll voted heavy Republican in the last Primary.

So, you are stating that there are no red areas of Md left?

Bmore on July 16, 2014 at 9:12 AM

No, there’s plenty. Carroll Co heading west, Harford heading east and the entire Eastern Shore is Red. Baltimore City and County (sometimes “Purple”), Howard, Montgomery, and PG are heavy Blue and elect whichever Dem is running since their populations are so high but I have a feeling Hogan might surprise some people. Anthony Brown is basically useless and if the rumors of O’Malley building a house in Delaware are true, that could be another salvo against Brown and a boost to Hogan’s chances with Dem voters in Maryland.

The FEC filings speak for themselves…but in MS who knows? You can see the FEC filings on #mssen on Twitter as well as other local media outlets.

d1carter on July 16, 2014 at 10:07 AM

Let’s tell the truth. The President is afraid conservatives will provide immigrants the documents Constitution and Declaration of Independence that will provide them the information necessary to become legal citizens.

MSGTAS on July 16, 2014 at 10:08 AM

Well if rural western Maryland is too dangerous, drop a couple of hundred in downtown Baltimore and watch how quickly they get mugged, raped, and murdered by the thugs who look like Obama.

Then send another couple hundred to Annapolis and put them up behind the governor’s mansion in tents. O’Malley can show the chillins his compassion and get a dose of lice in the process.

Bmore on July 16, 2014 at 10:06 AM

How about THIS one?

From link:

“I don’t think it’s the right place. I don’t think it’s the right time. The bottom line is the community doesn’t want it. The representatives in Congress don’t want it the Department of Health and Human Services shouldn’t be looking at it,” said U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, R-District 1.

Harris said if the Obama administration ignores the local opposition, he’s prepared to use his position on the House Appropriations Committee to stop the proposal from going further.

“We have the Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill coming to my subcommittee in two weeks. If necessary, I will put a rider on that bill that doesn’t allow it to spend money in Carroll County, not for that kind of center,” Harris said.

In addition to local and congressional opposition, the facility is not in move-in condition. The armory doesn’t appear hospitable. The inside doesn’t appear ready for visitors. The building has numerous small rooms.
