O’Malley wouldn’t fulfill Obama request to take in immigrants because conservatives might attack them

posted at 8:41 am on July 16, 2014 by Noah Rothman

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley wants to be the next President of the United States, and he’s just brazenly hypocritical enough for the job.

O’Malley recently won praise from the left with a bleeding heart speech before a group of reporters over the scale of the humanitarian crisis at the southern border. “We are not a country that should send children away and send them back to certain death,” O’Malley said to reporters attending a National Governors Association conference last week.

“I believe that we should be guided by the greatest power we have as a people, and that is the power of our principles,” he continued. “Through all of our great world religions, we are told that hospitality to strangers is an essential human dignity.”

The Maryland governor was seen as criticizing the White House and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who have both insisted that the vast majority of those crossing the border should be deported back to their home countries.

But when O’Malley’s rhetoric needed to be met with actions beyond passing wildly popular DREAM legislation in his state, Maryland’s governor is a bit more cautious. When the White House asked the presidential aspirant to house some of the unaccompanied minors crossing the border in a Western Maryland facility, O’Malley balked.

Hours after making that speech which was well-received by the left-of-center media, he received a call from White House in which he was asked curtly why he was actively trying to block some immigrant children from being warehoused in his state.

“O’Malley told [Domestic Policy Director Cecilia] Muñoz not to send any of the children to the facility in Westminster, Md., that the White House was looking at,” Politico reported. “It’s a conservative part of the state, he warned. The children were at risk of getting harassed, or worse, he said.”

What a noble display of faith in the public O’Malley governs.

CNN described the conversation between O’Malley and the White House as “heated.”

“A senior O’Malley administration official acknowledged the governor’s comments last Friday irritated senior White House officials, prompting the call from Munoz to O’Malley,” CNN reported.

As to why they’ve been getting reports about MS first, I suggest you contact Aaron Gardner at RS and ask him yourself. Aaron is not only front page editor for RS now, he also contributes his time and talents to both Media Trackers (out of CO) and True the Vote. It may be that it is his True the Vote connections that have given RS an inside track on info coming out of MS.

But by all means, ask Aaron yourself.

I find it amazing that not one of these sites in heavy Blue areas of Maryland aren’t suitable for people accustomed to much worse tenements.

The Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees the Office of Refugee Resettlement, considered a former Prince George’s County orphanage that was later a drug treatment facility; the complex in Baltimore City that previously housed the Social Security Administration; and a Montgomery County boarding school, according to The Baltimore Sun, which reported all were deemed unsuitable. The Baltimore City facility was reportedly scrapped because it was not designed for residential use.

What a noble display of faith in the public O’Malley governs.

Like all true believers in progressive fascism, O’Malley holds the people he is supposed to be serving in complete and utter contempt.

And like a true believer in progressive fascism, his leadership of Maryland is about as competent as that state’s rollout of it’s ACA exchange. True belief and reality do not mix well.

I would only approve if they are sent home after their 2 week spa stay there.

txdoc on July 16, 2014 at 10:38 AM

Westminster is in central Maryland. Secondly, what O’Malley doesn’t say here is that the illegals were suppose to go to Baltimore and the people there said no way. I think they should be housed in the wealthy enclaves that surround DC in Prince Georges and Montgomery counties. After all, they are two of the wealthiest counties in the country and are chock full of limousine liberal democrats.

With 22% real unemployment, O’Malley’s (Teddy) Kennedyesque drivel (We are not a country that should send children away and send them back to certain death(?)) is a classic Lefty lie.

These people are being exploited already (he doesn’t care) and the few that get real jobs will be taking them away from Americans.

There are no wars or revolutions in Central america, so the best thing for them is to send them home.

And do the same to O’Malley.

McDaniel has a 2 pm presser today. We will know more about their legal plans then. The FEC filings show that the Barbour PAC paid $150,000 to a new Dem PAC.
The Cochran campaign is trying to get this stopped before more bad news is discovered. The MSGOP will never allow a special election, so McDaniel will need to ask a court for a “redo”. Who know how that will go? The political damage to the GOP is being done by revealing FEC filings by all the PAC’s. So much money paid to Dems in a GOP primary runoff….

With 22% real unemployment, O’Malley’s (Teddy) Kennedyesque drivel (We are not a country that should send children away and send them back to certain death(?)) is a classic Lefty lie.

Crime statistics show that the rate of violent crime, including murder rates, have been declining in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala for the past several years.

“Sending them back to certain death” is the newest prog meme to justify not deporting all the illegal aliens currently flooding our border, but it’s a load of bull$hit.

These illegal alien kids are not facing “certain death” in their home countries anymore than at-risk kids living in Detroit, Chicago, East L.A., Baltimore, South Phoenix, etc., are.

Plenty of U.S.-born kids are at risk from gang violence too, and ironically, much of the risk exists because of idiotic open-borders amnesty pimps who have enabled violent foreign gangs like MS-13 to infiltrate and take over large portions of our cities.

So the governor is worried that conservatives will attack illegal immigrants. When government refuses to honor the rights, freedoms and citizenship of Americans, he just might be right; desperate Americans just might act as he believes. So maybe we should tell the present and potential illegals that it might be worse here than in their home country. Since we are so despised by the world, why not act like we are depicted.

Federal funding to La Raza more than doubled after former VP joined Obama administration

July 7, 2014 | Joe Schoffstall

Federal funding surged to a radical immigration group under the Obama administration after a former top member of the organization joined the Obama team in 2009.

In 2009, Cecilia Muñoz was appointed as the Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs in the Obama administration. She served in this position until January of 2012 when she became the President’s Domestic Policy Advisor and the Director of the Domestic Policy Council, a position which coordinates the domestic policy making process in the White House.

Muñoz is the former Vice President for the Office of Research, Advocacy, and Legislation for the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), one of the most radical groups today behind the push for a compete overhaul of the United States immigration system. She is married to Amit Muñoz-Pandya, a human rights lawyer and former counselor to the Open Society Institute, which was established and funded by liberal billionaire George Soros.

This was a bus of LEGAL migrants that are hired every year by a farm in that area. This farm has been doing this for decades and is widely known and beloved in that area. Just got off the phone with a very nice & informative lady with Patterson Farms in China Grove,NC. All workers are here through a federal government program ,H2A, where the farmer pays the federal government a fee and the workers are issued a temporary green card for the season. When harvest is over, the migrant workers (are supposed to) return to Mexico. This has been the farms practice for @ 20 years. This is essentially population transfer. They need new citizens to tax in order to prop up our collapsing entitlement system. They also need new voters to keep the welfare/entitlement bureaucracy in place. At the same time, our rulers want to cull the herd. They believe there are too many people and too few resources. They advocate population reduction through birth control, the promulgation of all forms of non-procreative sex, and abortion. They inflate the currency to make it too expensive to support large families. So the solution is to transfer entire populations from areas where they feel there is a “surplus” (i.e. the Third World) to areas in need. Europe, which is facing a demographic collapse of monumental proportions, has attempted the same thing, with even more calamitous results, due to the fact that their Third World immigrants are Muslims who are even less adept at adapting the host cultures, and who are murderous, rapine belligerents.

Anyone wondering why our plutocrats like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates support both open borders and Planned Parenthood as a deliberate choice need only to accept the above explanation.

This is why the African American community, and the unions, who should oppose this madness, will fall in line. Without a huge influx of Third World peasants, eventually made voters and taxpayers, the whole welfare/entitlement state collapses of its own accord. They will take one for the team.

Meet what appears to be one of the keys to Thad Cochran’s black-turnout operation, Mitzi Bickers.

She is, from all appearances, something of a renaissance woman: She is not only the pastor of Atlanta’s Emmanuel Baptist Church but also a former president of the Atlanta school board, a former construction-company executive, and a Democratic staffer and political strategist with a checkered past. Last year, she left her job as a senior adviser to Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed after news surfaced that she had filed a fraudulent financial-disclosure statement.

In a bizarre turn of events, it seems that Bickers was in the middle of a bitterly contested Republican Senate primary. Two Atlanta-based entities affiliated with Bickers, The Bickers Group and the Pirouette Company, were paid thousands of dollars to make robo-calls on Senator Cochran’s behalf by a super PAC that backed Cochran in his bid for reelection. Documents filed with the Federal Election Commission show that Mississippi Conservatives, the political-action committee run by former Mississippi governor Haley Barbour’s nephew Henry, paid the groups a total of $44,000 for get-out-the-vote “phone services.”

Back in the ’50s Democrats would tell people that Blacks would attack their women to scare them into voting Democrat. They really haven’t changed a bit since then.

Noah Rothman on July 16, 2014 at 8:41 AM

.
What exactly were the parents/guardians doing or thinking, by sending these kids on this journey, unattended?
.

“I believe that we should be guided by the greatest power we have as a people, and that is the power of our principles,” he continued. “Through all of our great world religions, we are told that hospitality to strangers is an essential human dignity.”

Noah Rothman on July 16, 2014 at 8:41 AM

.
When your own President deliberately, openly … solicits these other countries to send their young, like this, as an “invasion force,” any sense of “hospitality” we should have had, is worn thin (worn out?) right at the outset.
.

The Maryland governor was seen as criticizing the White House and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who have both insisted that the vast majority of those crossing the border should be deported back to their home countries.

Noah Rothman on July 16, 2014 at 8:41 AM

.
I’m sure they’re all really upset about it.

They just can’t wait to give him “a piece of their mind.”
.

Noah Rothman on July 16, 2014 at 8:41 AM

.
Oh Martin … ( shaking head sadly ) … turn in your liberal-man-card … stat.
.

Noah Rothman on July 16, 2014 at 8:41 AM

.
Worse than they were, while unattended, on that trip through Mexico ?

Hey, at least the WH asked him! More than what the red-state governors are getting!

Awesome! Mark Zuckerberg owns 5 houses (combined $30M) with plenty of room for border-hopping urchins http://www.forbes.com/sites/morganbrennan/2013/10/11/facebook-billionaire-mark-zuckerbergs-quietly-expanding-real-estate-portfolio/

The real problem isn’t the 50,000 abandoned kids in Texas, it’s the 50,000 unsupervised adults in Washington.

I have a good solution for what to do with all the illegal immigrants flooding across the border: send them to all the blue states! Every danged one of ‘em! Let all these “compassionate” liberals in the traditionally blue states feed them, clothe them, shelter them, and take care of every one of their needs. We would then see just how “compassionate” these phony-baloney liberals are.

“CNN described the conversation between O’Malley and the White House as “heated.””

I sincerely hope that when O’Malley shuffles off this mortal coil, his new residence for eternity will also be well “heated”.

Another governor who has abdicated his responsibility to keep the peace, and put down disorder.
Those ‘closet monsters’ can be tough to overcome.

Another Drew on July 16, 2014 at 3:40 PM

what libs mean when they talk about how we should all be compassionate and open our hearts is that some of us need to be more compassionate than others. That is you mean conservatives need to be compassionate. Libs don’t need to act compassionate, they just need to think they are more compassionate. They love the abstract concept rather than action.

warmairfan on July 16, 2014 at 3:42 PM

Those libtards who are so generous with Republican compassion so that they dump these lice infested illegals in Red states.

The blue state governors..no dumping illegals in MD, none in CT

Same as giving benefits..they are always generous with someone else’s money.

Not just the blue states, let’s send them to the lily-white suburbs in those blue states. Let’s send them to Chevy Chase and Malibu and Chappaqua.

Screw them. I live in Westminster. We may be conservative and hate law-breakers up here, but we would not have harassed children or anything worse. We’re good people here in Carroll County, mostly.

What a noble display of faith in the public O’Malley governs.

And just like Obama, he’s transparent. This was a classic NIMBY excuse.

Then I’m sure he’ll be happy to house them in Bethesda.

From TheObamaTimeline.com:

During the 2008 election, Maryland intentionally delayed the mailing of absentee ballots to members of the military. During the 2012 campaign, O’Malley warned that if Mitt Romney were elected he would return to the “record spending” of the Bush administration—ignoring the fact that Obama had spent far more than George W. Bush. A “millionaire’s tax” O’Malley pushed through in Maryland ended up costing the state at least $1.7 billion in lost revenue—after thousands of residents fled to other states. O’Malley bragged that Maryland would “lead the nation” in its implementation of ObamaCare. Instead, Maryland’s exchange web site was a disaster. O’Malley also signed strict gun control laws for his state. In response, gun manufacturer expanded its operations in Tennessee, rather than Maryland. Like Obama, O’Malley is a fan of higher taxes, more federal regulations, and increased government spending.

O’Malley wouldn’t fulfill Obama request to take in immigrants because conservatives might attack them

You’re kidding, right? That’s the best ‘spin’ O’Malley could come up with? The fact that this guy got elected is living proof that Marylanders are among the dumbest people on the planet.

olesparkie on July 17, 2014 at 7:14 AM

I have lived in Westminster for over 30 years. It is a fine community with great people. I take very personally the intimation by the (not “my”) governor that we would present a danger to any “immigrants” housed here. I’m against housing them because I’m for returning them. Nothing else. If anything, they’d be safer here than they would have been in the originally planned Baltimore office complex. That was nixed by the Baltimore area pols. O’Malley should be ashamed of himself for this comment and should apologize to the citizens of Westminster and Carroll County immediately.
