Report: 300,000 Central American immigrants heading to U.S.

posted at 7:21 pm on July 7, 2014 by Noah Rothman

This is… troubling.

The ongoing and apparently worsening calamity at the southern border as protected individuals like Central American women and children stream across the border is not merely a humanitarian and political crisis but a health crisis as well. While the influx of immigrants is not being curtailed, the health risks associated with that inflow are apparently being mitigated.

“It’s getting better,” said U.S. Border Patrol Council Shawn Moran in an interview with San Antonio’s WOAI. “Everyone is being screened and receiving medical care.”

That’s nice, but buried at the bottom of that report was a deeply disturbing revelation that the federal government estimates approximately 300,000 prospective illegal immigrants are currently on their way to the American border.

In fact, one source told Newsradio 1200 WOAI as many as 300,000 Central American immigrants are now ‘en route’ to the United States through Mexico, and the Department of Defense has asked military bases around the country to find 180 barracks, holding centers, and other facilities to house the flood which is not expected to stop coming any time soon.

“The numbers are still overwhelming and we are sending people everywhere just to get them processed, just due to the huge numbers,” Moran said.

This report comes on the heels of a confrontation at Murrieta, California where the federal government attempted and failed to relocate and process some of the 240,000 migrants and 52,000 unaccompanied immigrant children who have been captured crossing the border in recent months. Murrieta residents greeted a busload of illegal immigrant women and children with anti-illegal immigration protests and signs recently, forcing that bus to reroute an hour south to San Diego.

If WOAI’s report, one that has thus far not been substantiated by other outlets, turns out to be true, how many cities will react to that deluge of illegal migrants in the same way that the citizens of Murrieta did?

The Diane Feinstein-created legislation, signed into law by G.W. Bush on his way out in 2008, that requires DHS to turn over unaccompanied illegal alien minors to HHS, requires that they get a hearing, requires that they be provided lawyers, requires that they be classified as “refugees,” and requires that they be re-settled in the U.S. (because it forces the government to act in the minor’s best interests, regardless of the best interests of U.S. citizens/taxpayers, and of course the UACs’ taxpayer-funded lawyers always argue that it is not in the minor’s best interests to be deported) does not apply to Mexican and Canadian illegal alien minors.

Whoever orchestrated this invasion (Valerie Jarrett/LaRaza?) knew that they had to get foreign kids here from nations other than Mexico and Canada in order for their plan to work. They were well aware of the Feinstein law, and fully planned to exploit it (they may have even been the instigators behind its passage). There is a recent report about a 2011 memo to Janet Napolitano when she was head of DHS, referring to plans for the government to house/feed, etc., a surge of 50,000 illegal alien minors. Prior to this recent invasion, there had never been a year in which there were more than 5,000 UACs apprehended. Yet, somehow, way back in 2011, the Obama administration was anticipating that a huge, unprecedented surge was on the way.

AZCoyote on July 7, 2014 at 8:11 PM

To listen to the ICE folks, most of the unaccompanied minors being shipped in are classified OTM/C (other than Mexican/Canadian). Whether you want to trust Daddy Government or not is something else entirely, but the stats are out there for consumption.

gryphon202 on July 7, 2014 at 7:39 PM

I don’t really care what country they are from…all I know is that they are breaching the border between the former United States of America and Mexico.

Had we any interest at all in maintaining our sovereignty, we would simply drop kick every last one of them right on the other side of the same border the crossed. Let them figure out how to get back from whence they came.

Maybe that sort of swift and sure treatment would serve to stem the flow. Who cares if they are kids, grannies, sick or not? They are not supposed to cross the border into this country. Period.

Just seal the damned border. Round them all up and kick them out. If you want to redo immigration policies, fine. Do so AFTER we have border security.

But I’m just a heartless bass turd. What do I know? After all, Barack knows best what to do with such matters, amirite?? FORE!!!!!

Mexico only has a population of about 110 million and we had, according the estimate by PEW center, about 11 million illegal aliens. My senator used the figure 20-30 million recently, so somewhere between those two figures seems safe.

Pew also estimates that ‘only’ about 70% of all illegal aliens currently at large in the United States are Mexican citizens.

That’s still about 10% minimum of the population of Mexico if we go with something over 11 million and under 20 million.

This drain on Mexico’s population has been going on for well over three decades, too, and the average age of the illegal alien population is estimated to be about 27 years of age… so the fact is we’ve effectively siphoned off a couple of generations of young, strong, backs from Mexico’s labor pool.

*(Isn’t it interesting that PEW even knows how old the illegal aliens currently at large in this nation tend to be?)

When it comes time to build roads, hospitals, schools, cities, taking care of aging parents and grandparents, where are Mexico’s young generations?

They’re here.

PEW estimates that MOST of the increase in the Hispanic community in the United States recently has been though BIRTHS here in this nation.

So, yes… we may have exhausted the supply of young, strong, backs from Mexico and now the federal government and those seeking to guarantee an endless supply of cheap, foreign, illegal labor to their donors are forced to look further south, to Central America and beyond for that permanent underclass.

bimmcorp on July 7, 2014 at 8:12 PM

You may not care, but ICE does. And that is where much of the current debacle is rooted. For purposes of immigration and customs enforcement, I am of the personal believe that there should only be two relevant statuses: citizen and alien. Once that status is established one way or the other, there should only be one more question that needs answering: Is an alien on American soil with proper documentation? If the answer to that question is no, it is all but self-evident to me what should be done.

gryphon202 on July 7, 2014 at 8:18 PM

So that explains the lack of Mexicans, or at least the reported lack of Mexicans.

Yes, this was orchestrated. That much is clear.

Actually, I think the comparison is pretty apt, too.

The size of the invasion force was similar to the size of the wave of illegal aliens who have currently breached our border and are inundating our federal immigration enforcement system.

If anything, the current group of illegal aliens is worse than the invasion forces sent to Normandy in terms of dealing with them because many of them are children, many are ill and carrying infectious diseases and parasites, and our enforcement personnel who should be detailed strictly to maintain and enforce security along our southern border are overwhelmed instead providing for the needs of these foreign nationals who’ve entered this nation illegally.

Our border is now effectively inadequately manned because personnel are tasked elsewhere.

President Barack Obama is holding off for now on seeking new legal authority to send unaccompanied migrant kids back home faster from the Southern border, following criticism that the administration’s planned changes were too harsh.

Instead when Obama formally asks Congress for more than $2 billion in emergency spending Tuesday to deal with the border crisis, the request will not be accompanied by the specific legislative changes that the White House has indicated it plans to seek, according to two congressional aides. The aides spoke Monday on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the matter by name ahead of the announcement.

I think Obama and his administration are taking their policy decisions based on films.

“Field of Dreams” … “If you build it they will come.”

Obama and the LEFT built a field of dreams for illegal aliens… and they have come …and are still coming.

“Other People’s Money” … it’s all in the title. Never use your own money…when you can use other people’s money…and how the LEFT loves to use other people’s money.

“Ruthless People” … again.. all in the title. Obama’s lawlessness is swiftly becoming legendary in proportion and epic in scope.

“Wallstreet” …Gordon Gecko “Greed is good.” The LEFT has made this their mantra. They may decry “the 1%” and “fatcats” but the fact is that Wallstreet has done a bang up business under Obama and the LEFT and have become ‘the 1%’ and the ‘fatcats’….just ask Obama, the Clintons, Zuckerberg, Gates, Speilberg, Katzenberg, Beyonce and Jay-Z, Chris Rock, Whoopie Goldberg, Michael Jordan, Shaquille Oneal, Oprah, et al. and I don’t see them redistributing that vast wealth to the masses.

I know. We’re on the same page. What I’m saying is that it’s ICE making the distinction between Mexican/OTM, not me. That is one part of extant immigration law that I personally would gladly change, given my druthers.

gryphon202 on July 7, 2014 at 8:35 PM

Seems to me that this would be a peachy keen time for the Dog Eater to whip out one his his famous ‘Executive Actions’ and just close the damned borders and vanquish the invaders…young, old, sick, healthy, Mexican, Costa Rican, Martian, whatever the hell they are…

Never gonna happen, though. He WANTS porous borders, and he WANTS civil unrest, and he WANTS violence from the citizenry…All in his plan…

The Notorious G.O.P on July 7, 2014 at 7:31 PM

This is what I think.

Before Obama was taking out ads in Central America, telling parents not to send their children here, somebody was taking out ads that said, “send your children here”. Megyn Kelly read an ad/article that was in a Central American newspaper on her show. It was like freakin’ summer camp, “children will play soccer and learn English blah, blah, blah.” Who did that?

This President should be impeached. If the Republicans take the senate they better impeach the crap out of him.

Last I heard we had an airline industry that actually transports human beings in aluminum / steel tubes to countries in South America.

Perhaps we should use those resources now. Obama just threw out an opening bid of $2B.

Step up, Southwest Airlines! Claim your Obama prize. Share it with Delta or something.

Key West Reader on July 7, 2014 at 8:29 PM

Better yet…

Give the Border Patrol a couple of Big Boats - Navy, Cargo, Used Cruise, whatever.

Sort the ILLEGAL INVADERS by country and load them up on a boat headed for that country. If a boat for a particular country is too crowded, that is an unfortunate consequence of the number of ILLEGAL Invaders coming from that country.

Do whatever “processing” of the Invaders that needs to be done ON THE BOAT, while it is en route back to their country of origin.

Take fingerprints to identify who entered our country ILLEGALLY and put a note in their permanent file, so they are not allowed to enter the U.S. for at least 10 years.

Drop the ILLEGAL Invaders off at their home port.

If the “processing” process determines that a couple of the Invaders qualify for “asylum,” then drop them of at the embassy IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY, where they can complete their application for asylum the legal way.

Be sure to get lots of local media coverage as the big boat arrives in the home port, so the entire country can watch as tired, sea-sick former invaders are returned to their country of origin, so the rest of the population will understand that they should not even think about entering the U.S.A. ILLEGALLY.

This solution would be less expensive and less comfortable than providing air transportation. It would keep the Invaders quarantined on the boat far away from American neighborhoods. And if any children are born on the way home they would not qualify for U.S. citizenship as “anchor babies.”

I wonder how many are heading to L.A.

Moron Labe on July 7, 2014 at 8:13 PM

The way I figure it, the plan is to house them in the Homeland, Romoland, Nuevo area. There are empty warehouses in the area around March Air Base between Perris and Moreno Valley.

Muriieta and the towns around it are predominately white, middle class (Temecula, Menifee, Hemet, Lake Elsinore). Not enough support structure for the illegals there.

The Inland Empire is a conservative thorn in the side of the liberal coastal elites. A lot of the illegals in the Moreno Valley, Nuevo, Homeland area left during the recession and liberals want to replenish the stock, diluting the Republican base.

In typical Obama government stupidity, they made a tactical error.

Murrieta is a choke point. There are few streets to move the busses through unnoticed.

gh on July 7, 2014 at 8:00 PM

My point was only to give you a visual idea of the numbers of people heading this way. On D+5, 326,547 troops had participated. Regardless of whether they arrive here in days, weeks, or months, the number is ENORMOUS, especially when added to the OTHER 300,000 that have arrived since April, according to the New York Times.

I’ll say this much: I don’t think that Hitler was standing on one of the beaches handing out lollipops like Sheila ‘Dora da Explora’ Jackson-Lee.

Resist We Much on July 7, 2014 at 8:17 PM

Yep. The numbers are insanely high, no difference from what you see in refugee/humanitarian crises in conflict zones around the world. None. It’s stunning and it’s huge, even by the standards of a country with large population like the US and with a relatively high absorption rate/potential. It will be hard to absorb these new immigrants in these numbers, they will be a pain in every way, that will be absolutely felt by the local population (especially in the S and S-W where I guess they will be massively placed). This president is a madman, no doubt about it. Sheila’s nuts in a Sheila kinda way, but the man at the helm is our collective doom.

Ship them all to the most notorious sanctuary cities and let their new beloved illegals compete with their native born dependent groups for the limited space at the public trough. They rest of us can sit back and watch the whole thing burn at that point.
