Chris Christie: I have no opinion whatsoever on this Hobby Lobby decision

posted at 8:41 pm on July 1, 2014 by Allahpundit

Via Business Insider, apparently this guy has now bought his own BS about potential “crossover” appeal in 2016 to the extent that he won’t even venture an opinion about a landmark Court ruling for fear of alienating women and liberals. Which is funny because there’s an easy squish position available to him that’ll satisfy both sides: Side with Hobby Lobby to make righties happy and then follow Bobby Jindal’s lead by saying that birth control should be available over the counter to make lefties happy. That protects you from the “war on women” crap while shoring up your social conservative bona fides for the primary. Instead, he’s yammering on about what executives are supposed to do when a court rules, as if he’s addressing a leadership seminar. Pro tip: The first step to bold leadership is forming an opinion and standing behind it, even when the politics are fraught.

He’ll make a fine attorney general for President Jeb, though, no?

Cowardice of his own convictions. And that is why Christie won’t gain support. People want someone who stands for something, not someone who stands on anything. Well, Liberals excepted, of course. They are easily manipulated by those who talk thevtalk but don’t walk the walk. See: rich liberals.

Typical RINO response. Getting ready for 2016

Really can’t stand this guy.

AZCoyote on July 2, 2014 at 7:42 AM

This could be amusing at least. Republican contenders who run away from conservatives and Hillary running away from everything Bill passed in 8 years.

Christie doesn’t know if religious freedom is right for America.

Mark Levin ripped into his idiotic argument last night.

Dred Scott? Plessy vs Ferguson? Hey, who am I to give an opinion?/

CC apparently believes in a court-centered dictatorship. Who needs checks and balances?

“I have no opinion on any subject-any time, any place, any where”.: = “I refuse to testify on the grounds it might tend to incriminate me.” Chris Christie and Lois Lerner, twins separated at birth.

Sounds like the right person to help us get rid of Obamacare…

Alexis on July 2, 2014 at 8:48 AM

No opinion? This blustery blowhard is speechless only because of his political hopes for 2016. May he and his elitist GOP power brokers that seek to stifle all conservative thought never get the chance to “evolve opinions in 2016.
Third party at any cost….

What did he ever end up doing with that stupid magazine capacity bill the commies in his state’s legislature passed?

CurtZHP on July 2, 2014 at 9:01 AM

Meh, He wasn’t suckered. I can’t stand Christie but I’m glad he’s not falling into the pit.

SarahW on July 2, 2014 at 9:03 AM

The “It is what it is…” position. Maybe his polling team hasn’t returned the latest research poll data.

Christie is a pandering, blowhard loudmouth.

rplat on July 2, 2014 at 9:09 AM

Sorry, Chris, but the job of picking and choosing which laws or parts of laws a leader enforces is already taken. Isn’t this guy Catholic?

Kissmygrits on July 2, 2014 at 9:09 AM

As much as I dislike Chris Christie, it’s about time Republican candidates who are asked questions in interviews on rape and gay marriage and birth control pills say “You know, let’s talk about the terror threat to this country and the world, and the economy and the disaster that is ObamaCare” and leave all what you’re asking about to the courts to decide” or simply “I’m not here to talk about those, Mr. Gregory and Mr. Stephanopoulis. THIS is what we’re going to talk about.”

Agreed. Republicans (and not just conservatives) should use every opportunity presented to explain why the Administration’s policies are failures, why top-down-control will never work, and present solutions which will benefit the country. Unfortunately too many Republicans are corporate cronies who sustain their power through Big Government – just like the Left. There is much work to be done but the inside-the-Beltway crowd isn’t going to do it.

Governor Present.

jaywemm on July 2, 2014 at 11:25 AM

He can’t say because he needs to appease left-wing voters who won’t vote for him anyway if there is a democrat running against him.

Sterling Holobyte on July 2, 2014 at 11:31 AM

I think this is a case of Chris Christie and Garbage in Garbage out, he, like Mrs. Clinton, has heard from the media that women are going to be deprived of their access to contraception. He needs to hire a conservative media blogger type to keep him informed. I believe him, he is not paying enough attention. He needs to get on top of our issues.

Leading from the middle!!!!!

2lbsTest on July 2, 2014 at 12:07 PM

Do make sure you watch this hostile interview. Don’t just read the headline here, he says he is pro life to these people who all disagree with him, they are trying to get him to say he is against contraception, and they are calling the whole issue, The Right to Choose and coming after him from all sides. He was not ready for this attack, for whatever reason. They are treating him like Mitt Romney.

Fleuries on July 2, 2014 at 12:10 PM

This guy makes me sick.

Dan Pet on July 2, 2014 at 12:23 PM

He needs to get on top of our issues.

Fleuries on July 2, 2014 at 12:05 PM

Not sure who you mean when you say “OUR”. If you are looking for Christie to get on top of CONSERVATIVE issues (I am deliberately not taking the bait for a fat joke), you are delusional.

Dan Pet on July 2, 2014 at 12:25 PM

I bet if you give him a jelly donut he’ll take sides.

RandallinHerndon on July 2, 2014 at 12:55 PM

If conservatives voted for Christie, he’d screw us the very first chance he got. I’d never, ever vote for that guy. He should run as a Democrat in 2016. He just might be able to take Hillary down for the Dem nomination. I’m just say’n…
