Obama: I guess I’m going to have to fix our immigration system on my own

posted at 5:21 pm on June 30, 2014 by Allahpundit

Via the Corner, it’s interesting that he picked a day when the media’s consumed with SCOTUS news to pull this. Maybe he figures that all the lefties who care about amnesty will notice regardless whereas independents, from whom he fears a potential backlash, might be distracted. Never underestimate how short the low-information voter’s attention span can be, my friends.

Wait a sec. He’s using unilateral executive action to … increase border security?

The move was spurred by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, telling the president the House had no plans to vote on any immigration legislation this year, a White House official said.

“I would greatly prefer Congress actually do something. I take executive action only when we have a serious problem, a serious issue, and Congress chooses to do nothing.,” Mr. Obama said Monday in the Rose Garden of the White House. “And in this situation the failure of House Republicans to pass a darn bill is bad for security, its bad for our economy, and its bad for our future.”

Mr. Obama intends to direct Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Jeh Johnson and Attorney General Eric Holder to move “available and appropriate enforcement resources” from the interior of the country down to the southern border.

“Protecting public safety is and will remain a top priority, and we will continue to focus on removing those who have committed serious crimes from our interior, but we will redirect other resources to make sure we keep doing what it takes to keep our border secure,” the official said.

Last I checked, he was planning to ask Congress to change a few Bush-era rules so that he can expedite deportations of young illegals to Central America. It makes sense that he’d be a stickler for legislative authority on that; invoking executive authority to beef up the border is precisely the opposite of what his base wants him to do. And yet … here he is, invoking executive authority to beef up the border. Hmmm.

Maybe he’s thinking strategically. He knows he’s eventually going to issue an order relaxing deportation protocols for illegals who are already here and he also knows he’s going to catch hell from Republicans for it. So he’s throwing them a curveball, using executive authority to temporarily improve border security to disarm GOP attacks. This achieves three things for him: It “proves” that he can be trusted to enforce new security provisions if Congress passes a comprehensive deal; it slows the flow of young illegals, which has become a major political obstacle on the path to a mass amnesty; and, assuming the GOP puts up no fuss, it sets a precedent that Republicans are just fine with bold executive action when it’s in the service of their own immigration goals. That’s a lame “gotcha” since there’s nothing objectionable about the president re-positioning security assets, but rest assured that O will bring it up when, not if, he eventually issues his executive order on deportations. “How come Republicans are whining about executive overreach today but didn’t whine when I sent more Border Patrol down south a few weeks ago?” Today is all about the laying the groundwork, I think. That’s why Luis Gutierrez is excited. He knows what’s coming.

Exit question: Which article of the Constitution sets forth this principle? Quote: “I take executive action only when we have a serious problem, a serious issue and Congress chooses to do nothing.” I believe that’s the “I get to do sh*t if Congress doesn’t” clause, no?

Please note that whatever Obama has decided to involve himself in is nothing but a smoking shithole when he’s done.

If he really wanted to do something, he could use the laws already passed to enforce the boarder as they require. Unfortunately they are not the laws that allow him to do what he wants which is open the boarder to allow in a population of people that one; tend to vote democrat, two; tend to support AND prefer a socialist government structured to take care of them. Win Win as far as he is concerned and is determined not to let the Americans stop him. As he said, “I WON”, so he gets to do what he wants.

If he really wanted to do something he would declare this an invasion by a foreign force that has overrun the resources of the border patrol. If he release them to do the job they are supposed to be doing, called up the national guard to support their need and sent the army to secure the boarder, the problem would be solved, that quickly. If there is one thing they understand, you don’t mess with any army.

The solution to this should be that the House should pass a resolution authorizing that the President send more Border Patrol down south. This way, Obama will have a harder time claiming that he is entitled to do whatever he wants without getting Congress’s approval. Instead, the Republicans will be able to show a precedent that the President has authority when Congress authorizes him to have it. (No doubt Harry Reid will bottle the resolution up in the Senate … even though the resolution would authorize Obama to do what he says he wants to do and is going to do.)

What Obama and Congress and everyone else needs to understand is that just living in America is not why “Kids” are coming. They are coming for an education. In their country there is no opportunity for them to go to school. Only the rich get to go to school and often then, only their eldest son. IF the kids can get here, they, and their parents, know they will get a free education. That is what is driving this. The dangers are worth the risk, even if they die.

Guess that points out something. All that money spent as foreign aid over the decades, it it had been spent simply to build schools and train teachers, the problems they want to fix would not exist today.

One of the reasons third world countries exist is because an uneducated work force does not attract the modern world industries to locate in them. An uneducated population can not take advantage of the technology that exist today to be self sufficient.

Check and mate. How you folks under 65 are going to repair the U.S. I have no idea. All I know is that I’m just old enough to get my checks, and just old enough to know they will keep coming until I’m no longer able to benefit from them.

Check and mate. I wonder, how the hell do you say that in Spanish?

Obama talks about “borrowing power” to do what he wants.

How would he feel if the House borrowed his Executive Order power and used it as he does to pass a few laws they know Dirty Harry will never let the Senate see, or Obama would sign, and then Borrow some of the Judicial power to insure that they can undo all of Obama’s hard work with their borrowed power?

Of course in Obama world of Community Organizers, Borrow does not mean borrow it and bring it back. Borrow for them and him means to steal it with no intention of giving it back unless they are caught and was “just borrowing it”

Franklyn on June 30, 2014 at 10:29 PM

The Republicans have absolutely no intention of stopping this. They might make a few sound bytes to keep up with the tradition of the last one hundred or so years of sound bytes but actually accomplish something to fix the problem? Don’t make me laugh.

Now it’s those Wascally Wepublican’s fault that there is a problem with illegals because The One failed to enforce Clinton’s law.

Wish it could be that easy. Some states, like Texas, can do that. They have their own electrical grid so the Feds can’t cut the power. They have the Texas Rangers for law enforcement, they have their own deep water international port, they have most of the nations oil and refineries to use it, They are still a Republic and a state by treaty. The children recite the pledge to the Republic of Texas along with the American Pledge in school. If they had to go on their own they would be one of the worlds top five economies in the world.

The other Continental states would not stand a chance of survival on their own against the Feds.

Obama promising 2 billion to beef up border security? Any believers? A FALSE FLAG technique to get funding. Once he gets the money, Obie will use it for OPPOSITE purposes. Housing for illegals. First aid and rescue stations to harbor terrorists, saboteurs, welfare chiselers, rapists, gang bangers, drug lords, grifters, pimps, prostitutes and just your run-of-the mill petty thieves. Not to mention dough to pay lawyers to prosecute border guards who dare try to stem the invading horde.

With Obama it is ever the story of not seeing the forest for the trees. Of course he will deploy resources to the border, and in the months to come we will learn, drip by drip, from a conspiratorially silent media, that they have facilitated the rapid deployment of illegals across the nation, untraceable, undetectable, and now a permanent fixture of the body politic. Brilliant really and just a bit sad.

What a biased comment in the true sense that both elitist parties want amnesty badly. They just fear the backlash if they jump in with both feet–except for Obama who fears not the GOP wimps who are responsible to oppose and stop his recklessness (with impeachment–win or lose)
Anything less merely encourages him to even more recklessness in his quest to take down the nation our forefathers created.

“I get to do sh*t if Congress doesn’t”

Obama created the current border crisis by his letting the world think they can just waltz into America and they will be given a place at the table. When his rhetoric created a major problem on our southern border his solution to that problem is to blame congress for doing nothing. If nobody had done anything all those people wouldn’t be streaming towards us from the south. It is his creation but, as always he will blame everyone else. Of course the A.K.media lets him get by with his lies (as he knows they will)when they remain quiet about “do nothing with congress’ bills” Harry Reid.

This, and an older, equally valid perspective:

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Wait.

Congress has been asking for more border resources for years. The House has asked the Senate to approve the funding. This is, after all, a matter of allocating money. It has nothing to do with “will”.

But the president in now going to fix a problem he created by not enforcing our immigration policies and subjugating the law?

Stop me if I’ve got this wrong.

My head explodes AGAIN!

1) The Obama administration has been in charge of border security for the last 5-1/2 years. DHS Napolitano pronounced it more secure than ever.

2) The argument has NEVER been that there are not enough laws to secure the border. The “immigration reform” argument has been about the “undocumented immigrants” already in the country and how to insure a steady flow of “valuable” immigrants in the future.

3) Most Conservatives and a whole lot of Republicans have been asking President Obama to secure the border since he took office.

BOOM! But he shouts from the Rose Garden yesterday that he needs new laws to secure the border. He also shouts that he doesn’t know how to do it, so DHS Johnson has to get him some recommendations sometime soon. Oh, and it’s all the Republicans fault that those refugee children are streaming across the border and Obama needs $2 billion right now so that he can fix what the Republicans have broken. BOOM!

In 2012 Obama Signs New Law – Incarcerate US citizens without warrant, due process, trial.

While most Americans were celebrating the holidays, President Barack Obama quietly signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), otherwise known as the “Indefinite Detention Act,” into law. Obama had initially said he would veto the bill which contains the draconian language authorizing the US military to seize and incarcerate US citizens without warrant, due process, trial, etc. Of course, Obama quickly changed his mind after the bill passed both houses of Congress.
When signing the NDAA into law, Obama issued a signing statement that in essence said, “I have the power to detain Americans… but I won’t.” See this report:
http://tinyurl.com/6pqx4bg
Americans should realize that, coupled with the Patriot Act, the NDAA, for all intents and purposes, completely nullifies a good portion of the Bill of Rights, turns the United States into a war zone, and places US citizens under military rule. And what is even more astonishing is the manner in which the national press corps, and even the so-called “conservative” talking heads, have either completely ignored it, or have actually defended it. The likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, et al., should be ashamed of themselves!
