Hot Air Primary Survey: June Results

posted at 10:01 am on June 16, 2014 by Patrick Ishmael

Scott Walker edges Ted Cruz and the rest of the pack for the second survey in a row, taking 31% of the vote. In fact, the ordering for 1st Choice is exactly the order from last month: Walker, Cruz, Rand Paul, Rick Perry and Ben Carson. The 2nd choice ordering is also close to the same, with Carson, Bobby Jindal and Perry closely packed.

1st2nd

The race, in short, has remained stable from last month to this month. And the candidate acceptability question? Walker wins again, followed by Cruz, Jindal, Perry and Carson.

accept

On the whole, Hot Air readers think the factions within the Republican Party have been pretty evenly matched this primary season and haven’t been so destructive as to, in the end, help the Democrats. Readers also see Obamacare implemented at the state level to be Obamacare. If this is any indication, Republicans seeking the party’s Presidential nomination should rethink creating Obamacare insurance exchanges and expanding their state’s Medicaid under the law.

That’s it for this time. Thanks for participating!

Scott Walker is a good governor, but I have seen him in interviews where he has said some “typical” things that a purple state governor might say, (On the Record, Greta,) saying scary things that would have the knee jerk, emotional crowd, running. When those films come out, he will be Rubio’d.

will77jeff on June 16, 2014 at 10:54 AM

Perry, Jindal, or Palin at this point(She’s a distant 3rd for me-but I’d still enthusiastically vote for her.)

annoyinglittletwerp on June 16, 2014 at 10:54 AM

The race, in short, has remained stable from last month to this month.

Though, if I’m reading your numbers correctly, your participation has not.

Quick math- could be errors, feel free to point out if I’m wrong, but here’s what I see:

Early May- 3191 total votes.

Late May- 2915 total votes.

June- 2392 votes.

Guess we’ll see what happens in July- maybe a fluke?

I honestly don’t know if Palin is running or not- but if you include Condi Rice, Romney after his statements this weekend that a draft effort would be “silly” etc. but refuse to include Palin, I for one won’t be participating.

Maybe the other stories crowded out the poll, but you left it open a LOOOOOONG time to (IMO) try to drag in those votes.

If you end up with no Palin & under 25-2600 votes, you might want to think about what’s happening. If you get 3000+, obviously I’m wrong.

I’ll be watching to see how it develops…

:)

Ted Cruz can be described as exactly same, except being undeniably brilliant – they share the fun club.

BroncosRock on June 16, 2014 at 11:25 AM

We already know how poorly presidents with no executive experience do. That is why the best nominee for pres is a sitting or former governor. That makes Walker, Perry or Jindal the best candidates. I would have included Romney, but we already know from his last run that he won’t fight for it.

cs89 on June 16, 2014 at 10:57 AM

Because Joe is “new” on the candidate scene, so you throw him in just to see if there is any support.

Palin is a known entity, and a popular one, she will siphon off votes and you won’t get an accurate indication of the front runners…Joe is not a “threat” to do that with just a few votes.

But Palin will garner many votes, and she isn’t running at all…

Romney is not a “non candidate” yet…

Palin isn’t running, so why have her muck up the votes…we all know she would get nearly a hundred, which means a hundred from viable candidates.

right2bright on June 16, 2014 at 11:27 AM

Walker isn’t just pro-amnesty, he is basically for open borders. He’s said many times that whoever wants to work in the USA should be able to come here, which is insane. Maybe he doesn’t mean that literally, but it’s clear he’s another cheap labor corporatist.

gh on June 16, 2014 at 11:32 AM

I have no problems at all with a Ben Carson candidacy. Obama’s thin resume have absolutely nothing to do with his suckage as president. In fact, more extensive political experience would have done nothing more than made the president more adroit at implementing his socialist, big government agenda.

The Bringer on June 16, 2014 at 11:39 AM

Cruz and Carson are my two favorites. Jindal would be a good president as well. No matter how competent Walker is, you can’t win in this day and age as a boring white guy. Not against Hillary or even, Heaven help us, Warren. Some of you will bitch about identity politics but your deluding yourselves. This is the idiotic country we presently live in.
Rubio, Christie or Carson could win, but oddly the woman who would walk into the White House with nary a scratch is rhino-light Martinez. She may not do well on Hot Air polls, but she is the closest thing we have to a sure thing. A moderate Mexican woman cannot be beat.

Lindsey Graham – Gay, supports Amnesty like Rand Paul.
Herman Cain – accused philanderer like Newt Gingrich
Ben Carson – black man, but educated. This is considered a negative by progressive republicans.
Sarah Palin – woman, drives PDS sufferers batty
Elizabeth Warren – American Indian, but is currently Democrat, but is oddly more conservative than Charlie McCarthy, future majority leader
John McCain – Gay, but reminds me too much of Burgess Meredith, and that is downright creepy

Ok, so that I can figure out Democrat race definitions, if let’s say an African American gets elected President as a Republican, does that make him a White African American? Or just the next white president? I’m confused…

Brock Robamney on June 16, 2014 at 12:05 PM

My post got deleted, but basically what I said is that Martinez is the only one who walks into the White House without a scratch. The closest thing we have to a sure thing. A moderate Mexican American woman with a two term governorship under her belt is unbeatable. Hillary going up against a smart former prosecutor with a (somewhat) winning personality is the Democrats worst nightmare. She’s not staunch conservative, but she’s the next President if she runs.

Martinez is for illegal alien amnesty. And she comes across as not-ready-for-primetime in major live tv interviews.

That’s a good point. Jesus should certainly be included. Reagan is not eligible though. Two terms already.

But Washington and Lincoln served before the two term limit and thus it does not apply to them. And don’t tell me the dead cannot be politically active. I grew up in Illinois and spent 8 years in the Chicago area.

Right now she is the only one who speaks for me and has the ability and resume to be a valid candidate, so yes, I would really like the ability to participate.

Agreed. There is a long time to go before the primaries even begin…Gov. Palin has had my vote for years.

bimmcorp on June 16, 2014 at 12:10 PM

You people who poo-poo identity politics are deluded. Idiot America worships political correctness. Nominate a boring white guy against Hillary or (Heaven forbid) Warren and we lose. Period. The only way to turn this ship around is to win the presidency. You may want to nobly go down with the ship, but I’ll gladly grit my teeth and vote for an electable winner. Can you imagine a Hillary reign after Obama’s? The likely hood of that should cure anyone of dismissing ANY candidate who could win. Apparently not.

I know it was closer to the election than we currently are, but…

June, 2011. 4000+ votes. 1400+ for Palin.

Guess they cancelled summer vacation that year?

Sarah Palin is an irrelevant quitter, so please choose from this list of fine candidates, several of whom owe their seats to her endorsement.

Walker/Perry would bring some much needed executive experience to the er, um, ahem . . . executive branch – Novel concept, no?

You’re a hundred percent correct. I’m voting Rubio.

He’s also, the last time I checked, not a Republican.
