Finally: The “Dumb and Dumber To” trailer

posted at 7:31 pm on June 11, 2014 by Allahpundit

I’m offering it as a palate cleanser, fully aware that it looks dreadful yet unashamed that I laughed — more than once. We all have movies from our youth that we cherish, for which we’d gladly pay to see a sequel no matter how terrible the premise seems. Imagine, say, “The Shawshank Redemption II,” in which Andy and Red do nothing more than spend two hours yakking about life while refurbishing an old boat. You’d go. You’d be there opening night, at 50 bucks a ticket if need be. That’s where I am with this reheated idiocy. Gross sex gags involving Jim Carrey and old ladies? Here, take my money. I’m young again.

Gonna go put on some Soundgarden and watch this one again. They’re wearing the same clothes and everything!

I saw this trailer last night. It looks awful. I liked the vending machine gag, but that’s about it. And I’m not snob when it comes to comedy. I loved the first Dumb & Dumber. But the Farrellys haven’t done anything good in a very long time, and this doesn’t look like it’ll break them out of their slump.

Besides the high ticket prices, there’s all of the “utes” that have taken over movie theaters to put up with.

Am I the only one who’s disappointed that they had to resort to raunchy sexual humor? I appreciated the first one because it was literally just “dumb” PG-13 humor. Call me a prude, but if they’re showing Lloyd pleasuring somebody’s grandma in the trailer, I fear the movie will be even worse. :(

We need more of this. =)

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is an American cinema chain founded in 1997 in Austin, Texas, USA that is famous for its strict policy of requiring its audiences to maintain proper cinemagoing etiquette.

Etiquette

Alamo Drafthouse is famous for enforcing a strict policy on behavior while in the theater. Children under the age of six are not allowed, nor are unaccompanied minors. The cinema also prohibits talking and texting during the film. Anyone who violates this policy is subject to warning and potential removal from the premises. Alamo made national headlines in 2011 when the rantings of one angry customer who was ejected for texting were included in its “Don’t Talk or Text” PSA shown before films. “When we adopted our strict no talking policy back in 1997 we knew we were going to alienate some of our patrons,” Tim League posted on the cinema’s website. “That was the plan. If you can’t change your behavior and be quiet (or unilluminated) during a movie, then we don’t want you at our venue.”

I used to like to watch Jim C. movies, until he opened his big liberal mouth about crapping on the Constitution and passing gun control laws.
He will never get another penny of my money, no matter how funny he is. This is America. He is allowed to speak his mind, just like I can decide not to fund his ideas.

Oh, I’m quite sure it can be half as funny as the original.

The original was quite strong in the 12-year-old-boy-laughs-at-farts kind of humor, so aficionados may find 50% a satisfying level to snicker at in this latter day.
