Wife of soldier wounded searching for Bergdahl speaks out

posted at 2:01 pm on June 8, 2014 by Jazz Shaw

The Bergdahl story continues to go from bad to very bad to really bad to worse. I first saw this story being written about by Rick Moran at PJ Media today. The wife of one of the soldiers who was grievously injured while searching for Bergdahl in Afghanistan has taken to social media to protest the handling of this story.

The wife of a disabled Afghanistan veteran who was injured while searching for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has posted a scathing message against him this week, adding a personal account to the rising protests against the negotiations with the Taliban that lead to Bergdahl’s freedom.

In a message she posted via Facebook, Shannon Allen, wife of Sgt. 1st Class Mark Allen, wrote ‘Meet my husband, injuries directly brought to you by the actions of this traitor. He can’t give an account of what went down, because he can no longer speak. Now, which guy is a “hero” again?!? Sick.’

The photo included from the family says a lot more than a thousand words.
SoldierFamily

While it’s only one component of the many things which are wrong with this story, the fine grain details of the real lives involved aren’t really making the rounds of all the media coverage I’m seeing. Moran sums up the issue with this:

Bergdahl’s family gets an invite to the White House to appear at a Rose Garden press avail with the president. What did Mrs. Allen and the other family members of those who fell looking for Bergdahl get?

They are non-people. They have been disappeared because their presence is inconvenient and unwanted. They don’t play into the narrative the White House would like the American people to believe; Sgt. Bergdahl served with honor and distinction; he’s a confused victim of circumstance who was near death when President Obama swooped in and rescued him. The price was high, but hey! We don’t leave anyone behind so shut up and sit down.

Meanwhile, the families quietly grieve over their loss — a loss not incurred as a result of combat that advanced America’s war effort, but in an attempt to bring one, wayward soldier home who may have deserted his post and thrown in with the enemy.

The juxtaposition of Bergdahl and those who fell looking for him is painful. It reminds us that life isn’t fair, the good die young, and any other timeworn cliche that actually makes sense. Bergdahl for Allen? Bergdahl for any of the other soldiers who fell? The scales don’t balance and we are angry.

Unfortunately, this is not likely to be the last such story we’ll hear, and these are just the ghosts being summoned up from the past. Given the attitudes of the five trading pieces, there is no way of gauging how many more stories are to come in the future. The President seems to have pulled a piece out of the bottom of the Jenga stack and it’s going to take a long time to finish falling down.

Any explanation of how a Marine was wounded searching for a lost Army guy ?

Riiight. Don’t speak for me and what I would or would not do. You pompous little snowflake, you have no idea how real men think or how they react when the brown substance hits the whirling blades.

well, to be frank, I don’t think my talents would be best served as frontline infantry. I would’ve most likely been placed in an operational/strategic role in the army.

I do agree with you here. People of your caliber go straight to the front of the goat herder line. Goats need love too. The army is large enough that they can even utilize the talents of a legend in his own mind like you.

That is not a Marine uniform but Army dress blues. See the light blue braid on his right shoulder? That is worn by all Infantryman. I served in the 1st Infantry Foward also known as The Big Red One and all those infantrymen wore that braid on the khaki’s uniform, Class A’s and Dress Blues.

For all of you who are outraged by this:

Your life is worth nothing to a politician if you wear a uniform or are subject to a draft and do not live in certain zip codes.
Please note the following examples of kid’s lives wasted in pursuit of lost causes and folly:

Johnson: Vietnam – fail, cut and run

Reagan: Beirut – fail, cut and run

Bush/Clinton: Somalia – fail, cut and run

Dubya: Iraq – Had no relation to 9/11

Obama: Millions have yet to die because of his weakness.

Politicians have license to kill by the tens of thousands with impunity. We little people can do nothing but offer up our children for slaughter and sing Lee Greenwood songs while doing it.

Get over it.

That is exactly what I thought the minute I laid eyes on him at that stupid press conference in the Rose Garden.

The beard was the tipoff — he can claim all he wants that it was because his son was being held captive, but he also gave himself away with the Pashto-speak also. It came across as suspect immediately.

Oh guess who really spent ive and a half years in a tiger cage as a prisoner of war at the “Hanoi Hilton”. That’s right, John McCain.

I’m sure that I can find comments from “nonpartisan” in threads from McCain’s presidential campaign time, casually dropping in and defending him on account of his POW status.

RushBaby on June 8, 2014 at 8:17 PM

The last two elections will live on, miserably, as those in which many people such as NP waxed on and on about the joys of voting for McCain. And why, I concluded a while ago, McCain was nominated in the first place: to elect Obama.

Mirengoff is probably wrong because, since there will be no trial or conviction, there will be no pardon either – not necessary.

virgo on June 8, 2014 at 7:59 PM

It’s a good question. Obama would like to just bury the investigation, then quietly call it off. In the short term, that would work.

But in the long term, no pardon means he could be tried in the future. I suspect the political price of a pardon is worth it to Obama to make sure there is never any kind of an embarrassing trial.

Mainstream media spent all day explaining how the #Bergdahl treason was so perfectly normal, every President does it, and why are Republicans so mean and just want Bergdahl to die.

Disgusting.

Oh well. We took back Virginia today so the winds may be changing.

Dubya: Iraq – Had no relation to 9/11

Exninja on June 8, 2014 at 9:54 P

Just got back from fishing with The Ghost of Henry Fonda just up the road from here, On Golden Pond. No sign of Walter.

You gave it that old college try in your assorted examples, but failed anyway. Because you inserted the discredited meme above. You are what I call an Iraq War Troofer.

To believe what you believe in your post above, you have to totally and willingly ignore the following Facts.

1. The 2002 US Resolution authorizing Iraq was based on at least a dozen different violations. Only one of those related to Iraq and 9/11, and it only claimed that operatives of AQ were known to be in Iraq at the time the bill was being voted on.

In Democrat Language, the only tie the evil Bush made between 9/11 and Iraq in the Resolution was to say that AQ carried out 9/11.

One of the other claims in that Resolution? That Saddam Hussein had tried to bump off Pappy Bush in Kuwait. When that happened, (Democrat) Bill Clinton sent some cruise missiles down Saddam’s smokestack. So it wasn’t Bush’s fault that this certain provision was included.

2. The Junior Senator from New York voted for that authorization, but when she did so she said her affirmative vote was based on what her husband’s intel people briefed her on, not on what Bush’s intel people had briefed her on. She’s running for pResident in 2016.

3. In 1998, as pResident before leaving his successor the original 9/11, the Junior Senator from New York’s husband’s Department of Justice formally indicted bin Laden. In said indictment, they specifically charged him with working in cahoots with Saddam Hussein and the Iraqi government.

Article 4:

4. Al Qaeda also forged alliances with the National Islamic Front in the Sudan and with the government of Iran and its associated terrorist group Hezballah for the purpose of working together against their perceived common enemies in the West, particularly the United States.

In addition, al Qaeda reached an understanding with the government of Iraq that al Qaeda would not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq.

Reason I bolded the “weapons development” part above was because the Faux News of the Democrat Party, PBS, at the time broadcast an interview on their version of “60 Minutes”, aka “Frontline”.

They had a fascinating interview with an Iraqi military dude, who talked about a training base just outside BadGag, where the Iraqis had a commercial aircraft fuselage available to train on. Over the years, the accounts of the exact plane make, model, and/or tail number have varied wildly. But he had no doubts that AQ trained there:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/gunning/interviews/

In the 9/11 attacks, planes were used as weapons. Human Missiles, to be exact.

4. Documents we captured after liberating Iraq prove their being in cahoots with AQ, but they were in cahoots with other terror groups as well. Given AQ’s worldwide presence, only a Low-IQ Doofus could claim with a straight face that AQ could be operating in all but one country on the planet. Especially since a prior Democrat pResident had already formally accused them of doing exactly that.

5. Democrats love Show Trials, and after Iraq formally took their concerns to The World Court, where they charged an African American Woman and a Jamaican-American General for War Crimes, among others. The Jamaican-American General was later forgiven for endorsing Dear Leader, but the former is still called racist terms.

6. And yet the Iraq Troofers, and the Democrats as a whole, to this day totally ignore a couple of Show Trials in the same Lower Manhattan Federal Court where Holder wanted to try KSM.

Both of the Federal Judges who heard the evidence concluded that Iraq played a role in 9/11.

Of course those 2 rulings would be totally censored/ignored by the Low-IQ Democrats, because:

a. They were legal rulings based on evidence presented at trial that Bush Didn’t Lie, and

b. Both rulings were handed down by Federal Judges appointed by Bill Clinton.

(Drum Roll)

Del Dolemonte on June 8, 2014 at 11:55 PM

Touched a nerve, did I? The Rino Bushies are twisting themselves into pretzels attempting to connect 9/11 to Saddam.

AQ was awarded a terror franchise because we were in Saudi Arabia and that proves that Saddam was the number one bogey man? Laughable!

Point 1 Bin Laden decided to attack the US after visiting bombed out Lebanon long before Saddam invaded Kuwait.

Point 2 The Bushies saw 9/11 as the opportune time to “drain the swamp” i.e. Invade Iraq and establish a permanent military presence in the middle east. This was nothing more than that, no relation whatsoever to the terror attacks on 9/11/01. None. Whatsoever.

I deal and converse with Iraqis several times per month. Iraq is NOW a fertile ground for terrorist organizations to recruit and sharpen their skills. You really think that was permitted in Saddam’s Iraq? Nice try.

I liked Dubya, but Iraq was a sham and a disaster. I guess you Bushies are really excited about Christie or Jeb being our next loser, huh?

Obama and his pathetic enablers are already pushing the “this should be contained within the military, it’s not a public issue” tactic.

They’re trying to bury the whole issue, feverishly working social media to urge it be “left to a military trial” so Obama, I suppose, can continue playing golf and smiling at cameras as if he’s daft.

Lourdes on June 9, 2014 at 1:11 AM

That’s not even the sickest part.

The media has taken up the administrations despicable task of trying to unlink soldiers deaths and grievous injuries from Bergdahl. The official storyline is attempting to state that any connection to Bergdahl is “tenuous”.

Pure, unadulterated hogwash. The mission changed when Bergdahl deserted and was shaped to find him. That is not “tenuous” or unconfirmed. It is direct and factual.

Like most other problems our country faces, I largely blame the partisan media. They’ve done nothing but blindly support this administration and we have all paid for that dishonest collaboration.

God Bless you SFC. Allen, Mrs. Allen and that cute child. Make no mistake, you are all my heroes.

I’m probably going to get decimated for saying this but maybe I can mitigate it by affirming that Berghdal is, at the very least, a rat b*stard deserter whom we should have left to rot and Obama is the second worst President in American history (sorry FDR).

Having said that, this wounded hero’s wife is really hot. It kind of lends the story an even more tragic nuance, that he probably can’t be intimate with her anymore.
