Van Jones: These soldiers speaking out against Bergdahl are part of Republicans’ “orchestrated smear campaign”

posted at 1:21 pm on June 4, 2014 by Erika Johnsen

Well. This is almost as clever as his little “Benghazi-ization” zinger from the night before, in which he boldly called out Republicans for “building up” the released Taliban prisoners into a “mega threat against us” (so out of line, Republicans!) for the sake of their falsely scandal-icious narrative. Via RCP:

Now, I admit, there are important answers we have to answer here, but Sergeant Bergdahl isn’t even out of the hospital yet and already the air waves are being filled mysteriously with former soldiers just trashing the guy. What is going on here? Well, it turns out that there are Republican operatives who are working behind the scenes to get some of those guys on television. This is an orchestrated smear campaign. The implication is that President Obama should have left a U.S. soldier to die, but if he had done that, the same Republicans would be attacking him for doing that, so the whole thing is completely outrageous.

The big point there, I suppose, is that super-duper-shadowy “Republican operatives” are working “behind the scenes to get some of those guys on television.” …Yeah, so what? Is Van Jones suggesting that the soldiers personally and professionally familiar with Bowe Bergdahl don’t have a right to be heard publicly at a highly relevant moment, or perhaps even trying to imply that Republicans are somehow tampering with the veterans’ stories? Because that is total baloney, as Allahpundit aptly noted in covering the specific instance to which I think Jones is referring yesterday; the entirely independent accusations against Bergdahl from his fellow vets have already been out there for years. I might also ask Van Jones to explain how it is that the supposedly constructed “Benghazi-ization” narrative is less worthily critical than the narrative from the “Do And Say Anything To Cover President Obama’s Behind” camp to which he apparently belongs.

This is great. A democratic operative out smearing so called republican operatives about smearing someone else.

What’s so funny is how long it took the trolls to come up with a message. Probably had to go to the Harrumphington post to find something to say.

Still sounds stunted an silly with every new piece of information.

Quit while you’re behind.

I’ve been friends with one of the Swifties (not their founder John O’Neill) for over 50 years. The man doesn’t have a dishonest bone in his body.

Then why did he lie through his teeth?

Hello, Larry!

Or are you Tereza? Can I have some gin-soaked raisins?

But seriously, Minerva, the burden of proof is on the accuser here on our planet, and so you’ll have to prove to us with credible and multi-sourced cites that O’Neill was “lying through his teeth”.

While I am waiting for your nonexistent reply, a classic:

Hello Larry O’Donnell “Debates” With Swift Boat Founder John O’Neill…

Take your time. Remember, credible, and multiple sources!

Moreso. Jones is smarter than Abu Bin Baraq, and actually understands WHY he says and does the things he says and does.

It’s not like it’d be the first time. The right viciously guards their military bona fides by routinely sliming liberal politicians who were soldiers as somehow not “real” soldiers. Kerry was only an obvious case.

Tlaloc on June 4, 2014 at 5:27 PM

Kerry is an obvious traitor (remember his meeting with the North Vietnamese in Paris back in 1970?). Or…perhaps you re referring to that ‘Vietnam vet’, Richard Blumental?

Since their statements go against the Bamster’s plan, they must all be racists too.

Considering the source, the accusation is ludicrously hilarious.

Or is it hilariously ludicrous?

No wonder CNN’s ratings are in the toilet – you’d need to be a Communist to watch Van Jones.

Yah, and the soldiers are racist, sexist, homophobes too. Oh yah, this is Van Jones preaching, so the soldiers are also the nationalist Bourgeoisie.
