And, while we’re montaging, how dare you question the U.S. military’s sacred obligation to bring its warriors home, even though no one actually questioned that:

But compassion, please! The president and all the president’s men and women are not alone. Our media elite — where it’s a rare bird who bothered to serve in uniform — instantly became experts on military justice. Of earnest mien and blithe assumption, one talking head after another announced that “we always try to rescue our troops, even deserters.”

Uh, no. “Save the deserter” is a recent battle cry of the politically indoctrinated brass. For much of our history, we did make some efforts to track down deserters in wartime. Then we shot or hanged them. Or, if we were in good spirits, we merely used a branding iron to burn a large D into their cheeks or foreheads. Even as we grew more enlightened, desertion brought serious time in a military prison. At hard labor.

This is a fundamental culture clash. Team Obama and its base cannot comprehend the values still cherished by those young Americans “so dumb” they joined the Army instead of going to prep school and then to Harvard. Values such as duty, honor, country, physical courage, and loyalty to your brothers and sisters in arms have no place in Obama World.

Yep. This will all be out of the news in a couple of weeks when we are onto another Barky screw-up with the MSM defending him with lies and distortions and stupidity – just as they first tried Bergdahl. Of course, the Weeping Boner and the Vichy GOP will let it all blow over, too, and move on to their own treasonous aid and comfort to invading illegals, who they want to have serving in the military, taking oaths (LOL) … Yep.

Any criticism of Teh Messiah by the sycophantic LSM whores recently and ongoing is simply part of the new JournOList strategy to attempt to distance Killary from President Clusterf*ck and get elected POTUS in 2016 — nothing more.

Like all D’s and most R’s, Okaka is simply a useful idiot …

We deserve this government. We deserve to be governed good and hard, with honey and sand in place of KY lube.

When it becomes painful enough, maybe the sheeple will turn off their flat screens, put down the cheeseburgers and…oh never mind, American Idol is on, gotta go.

The only funny thing about this is that Ogabe turns everything he touches into fecal matter. Wonder if he smells it yet?

Exninja on June 3, 2014 at 10:34 PM

The MSM traitors are using this story to end the VA scandal. The posturing will end soon and they will find another distraction for Bammy to end this story. They know the sheeple have short attention spans and are not very bright.

I’m kind of amused that not one of the staff at Hot Air seem to be on top of their game this week.

Hints:

What happened earlier this week with regard to the Supreme Court and James Risen?

What did the MSM EXPECT to happen?

If you’re part of the Kneepad Media and it becomes Kristallnacht clear they are willing to haul James Risen away for re-education, wouldn’t your average, non-Pulitzer Prize winning hack be sh1tting their pants about now?

That’s why you should relax and just let it happen. America was over in November of 2012.

Judge_Dredd on June 3, 2014 at 10:39 PM

The Soviet Style Media is having a hissy fit because Barky sprang a lie on them without warning that’s just to big to cover through normal techniques.

Bergdahl was a known deserter and the SSM quickly realized that wasn’t going to be forgotten just because Der Leader was desperate to get a different news cycle going.

And then Jihad Daddy’s schtick in the Rose Garden dug the SSM’s hole way deeper.

So that’s the real Obama arrogance and incompetence: rudely not letting the SSM get a frame around this deal first. Their actually fine with the deal itself.

Hearing that idiot, Rice about our secret obligation to bring back our guys home makes me sick, too bad in the Benghazi case said obligation wasn’t as sacred as in the case of this rat. Obviously some obligations are more sacred than others. This woman makes me so sick.

A few hours ago I was hoping this would detonate in Obama’s face before November, now it looks like it might happen before the end of the week.

Anyone want to take bets on how long it is before some Republican publicly calls Obama on this and Candy Crowley butts in and says that Obama never said in a speech in the Rose Garden that Bergdahl served with distinction?

alchemist19 on June 4, 2014 at 12:05 AM

I’m having to rethink my opinion of BOR after he asked tonight, is Susan Rice a moron. First time he’s been so right on anything.

Kissmygrits on June 4, 2014 at 12:39 AM

The media is never spontaneously honest and skeptical. They’re up to something with this act and whatever it is, it has nothing to do with suddenly deciding to be pro-American or report the truth.

Cara C on June 4, 2014 at 12:58 AM

The media will scold Obama for a couple of days and that’s his punishment as opposed to impeachment and conviction of high crimes and misdemeanors.

In a normal America I’d think perhaps the guy is a double agent working for us and let it go.

In a normal America there’s no way 5 terrorist leaders walk away from custody. The only good news is their health care just got worse.

Meremortal on June 4, 2014 at 1:50 AM

I was only getting my news on the sgt from this site. I went to the net and found out that the taliban originally wanted 21 prisoners released and millions of dollars and were negotiated down to five. I also found out some of the same republicans criticizing Obama now were imploring him to do any and everything possible to get the sgt back.

This is why I love the internet. Dont depend on just one outlet to give you all aspects of a situation.

Politricks on June 4, 2014 at 3:54 AM

Me too. I read more sites and found out six named members of the US Army can be directly attributed to have died on operations looking for Bergdahl. I also found out reading other sites that Taliban commanders claimed Bergdahl was helping them build IEDs and teaching them how to defeat our IED counter-measures. I also read a few sites and determined that IED deaths in Afghanistan raised double and nearly triple for four straight years after he defected. I also learned nearly every man, who was still alive, that served with Bergdahl said the administration’s story was bogus and Bergdahl should be tried for desertion and worse.

But yeah, amazing that we only had to give back 5 of the worst terrorists and Taliban commanders that were in GITMO. Wow, good find. We dodged a bullet there, what with not making it 15.

In fact, there’s still one or two sites out there that still think the president is smart. And it’s important to understand that a few still do think that way.

Great comment.

hawkdriver on June 4, 2014 at 4:18 AM

Gosh Politricks, here’s more news from the other sites around the internet about obama’s unlawful deal to retrieve a deserter who was actively helping the Taliban kill his fellow soldiers. The five were pretty bad.

According to a 2008 Pentagon dossier on Guantanamo Bay inmates, all five men released were considered to be a high risk to launch attacks against the United States and its allies if they were liberated. The exchange shows that the Obama administration was willing to pay a steep price, indeed, for Bergdahl’s freedom. The administration says they will be transferred to Qatar, which played a key role in the negotiations.

I read on another site that they’re free to do whatever in Qatar. Bets on how long another web site besides this one reports on one the obama Five killing someone? I’m sure glad he was able to barter down from 21!

Politricks on June 4, 2014 at 3:54 AM

That’s why HA writers and commenters draw from a wide variety of sites, including prominent Main Stream Media and explicitly Leftist groups.

I found one story supporting your first assertion, but not the implication that the bargaining was part of the final run-up to the deal.

Bergdahl was 23 at the time of his disappearance. Soon after, the Taliban released five separate videos – the last from May 2011 – showing him in their captivity. In 2010, the Taliban demanded $1 million along with the release of a Pakistani scientist and 21 other Afghan prisoners in exchange for Bergdahl’s life.

Don’t you know anything about negotiations?
You always start by asking for more than you can reasonably expect to get.

We already know Obama was floating the possibility of the 5-man exchange in 2011 and got shot down by Congress and his mil/intel chiefs.
We also know the Army refused to send in a rescue team because they didn’t want to lose more good men “rescuing” a deserter / defector.
I would say Obama was negotiated up from zero to five.

Have you got a citation for your second assertion?
(HINT: it’s Huffpo, and the actual reporting undercuts your claim – the Devil, as they say, is in the details.)

And next time put your own links up, if you have more than one paragraph in one story to go on.

PS Here’s another view from the HuffPo, on the “Republican firm arranging interviews”, which turns out to be much less problematic than you suggest.

On Tuesday, BuzzFeed identified Richard Grenell, who once served as an aide to U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton and later worked for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, as playing a key role in publicizing Bergdahl’s critics.

“My role was to ask the firm to help facilitate the interviews for free. Brad Chase agreed to do it. He is handling all the requests. He isn’t political. I originally spoke to Cody, the leader, via Twitter then asked the firm,” Grenell told The Huffington Post’s Sam Stein.

Certainly Bergdahl’s release on Saturday raises legitimate questions about the circumstances surrounding his capture, the legality of the exchange and whether it merited the release of five Guantanamo Bay detainees. But the fact that Republican operatives are shopping around interviews behind the scenes meant to stir opposition to the Obama administration threatens to turn the debate over a prisoner of war into another partisan slugfest ahead of the November midterm elections.

Point 1: Grenell worked briefly for Romney’s campaign; maybe he’s a Republican operative, maybe not. The website for his firm Capitol Media Partners suggests not (founded in 2009, before the campaign).
Point 2: The Buzzfeed story cited by Huffpo contradicts the HP story in several areas.

Reached by phone, Grenell’s partner at Capitol Media Partners, Brad Chase, confirmed that the firm had been helping the soldiers get their story out.

“Obviously Ric is a well-known Republican and these guys found him on Twitter and reached out asking for help in getting their story out,” Chase said. “Ric obviously saw that this is something that needed to be told and came to me and others in our firm, and I and some of the others determined that this was a story that we wanted to work on.”

Chase said the New York Times’ reference to them as “Republican strategists” was “100% factually inaccurate” because he himself is not a Republican. But a producer for The Michael Berry Show, a radio show that one of the soldiers spoke on, told BuzzFeed that Grenell was the point of contact for the bookings.

Here’s the motto for Capitol Media Partners:
“A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth even has a chance to get its pants on.” –Winston Churchill
Maybe they just saw a chance to give truth an even chance, for a change.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/06/03/dianne-feinstein-white-house-apologized-for-oversight-in-not-notifying-congress-of-bergdahl-swap/

Feinstein said that in 2011, the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees were unanimous against a prisoner exchange.

Imploring him to do anything to get him back, and unanimously opposed to a prisoner exchange?

Well clearly they wanted a prisoner exchange and nothing else would do… why else would we see unanimous opposition.

But that’s from Feinstien…she’s probably lying to provide cover for the GOP or something, right?

Yeah… sorry. You’re going to need some serious sourcing on your “The GOP really wanted this deal” argument; because Feinstein says NOBODY wanted it in Congress on either side.
