Video: White House solves VA problem. “No question” this was a termination

posted at 5:01 pm on May 18, 2014 by Jazz Shaw

Good news, citizens! All is well! The White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough sat down with Major Garrett on CBS this morning to clarify once and for all that the recent termination at the VA was absolutely not, in any way shape or form, even in the slightest, to be construed as as a scapegoat who was about to retire anyway taking the hit for the VA scandals. Video from Real Clear Politics:

DENIS MCDONOUGH: Well, Secretary Shinseki accepted Dr. Petzel’s resignation this afternoon. He was due to retire early next month and obviously there has been a nomination made for his replacement. I leave to Rick the explanation of his decision, but there is no question that this is a termination of his job there before he was planning to go.

MAJOR GARRETT, CBS NEWS: So the President is unhappy?

DM: I think… you heard what Secretary Shinseki said yesterday, which was that he’s mad as hell. And the President is madder than hell. And I’ve got the scars to prove it, given the briefings that I’ve given the President, the conversations that he and Rick and I have had on these matters. So is one step, as important as it is, like this one sufficient? We’ll continue to look at that. But at the same time that we’re looking at accountability we want to be able to continue to perform and provide our veterans the services that they have earned.

I’m not sure, but did we just hear a version of, what more do you want from us? We fired the guy. Nothing to see here, move along.

The President is madder than hell about something, but from the tone that McDonogh is taking, it sounds like it’s because he’s being distracted from golfing his many other important duties. Still, they had to trot the Chief of Staff out for the Sunday rituals, so at least the situation seems to have his attention for now.

I’m really glad we’ve elected a President that knows how to get mad at people. That’s the true measure of a competent executive. Actually accomplishing something and making wise decisions, that’s for somebody else.

Not so fast, rats.

What you’ve seen on TV about the VA is not even the top of the very top of a huuuuge disaster for obama and his azz-lickers.

Schadenfreude on May 18, 2014 at 8:25 PM

The Chief of Staff had to go on TV because the President was on the 8th hole at the time, and hey the VA guy left work a few weeks early so hey we don’t mess around with severe punishment. The President is “mad as hell”. Wow, look out little white golf ball.

obama just needs to know whose ass to kick.

Is it OK to say this fellow and the president he represents are lying bastards?

Wow, made as hell at his own incompetence. Full pretzel bizarro world

jake49 on May 19, 2014 at 12:49 AM

What is the President mad at exactly? He admits they did something wrong?

faraway on May 19, 2014 at 12:51 AM

Major Garett is now on CBS News? So he went from Foxnews to CBS News. Considering Atkinson just quit — or was fired — from CBS News and on the way out said that CBS News was extremely biased in favor of the admin, what does that say about Major?

farsighted on May 19, 2014 at 7:42 AM

what more do you want from us? We fired the guy. Nothing to see here, move along.

. . . and we fired him a month before he was due to leave anyway, so he’s losing out on a whole four weeks of pay! Surely that’s more than enough to compensate for 40 dead veterans in Phoenix, and who-knows-how-many-more in all the other VA hospitals that have been pulling the same scam.

So all is well and the matter has been dealt with, and you folks can now all go back to wondering whether that Kardashian chick will be able to squeeze her huge azz into another wedding dress for her next commercial venture . . . er, wedding.”

An easy fire, he didn’t contribute much to Obama’s campaign, he was just an “ally”, not an insider.

This shows not a smidgeon of leadership…

The worst two fools that are causing so much destruction in the Obama administration besides Obama himself are Dennis McDonough and of course Valerie Jarrett… The reason is that they are the only two whom Obama listen to them and follow their always very bad advice, not that Obama does not come with the disastrous policies himself but these two re-enforce all what this wrong with him…

Great, the 1st time anyone is held accountable – fired – during the Obamaadministration, and it is a guy who was retiring anyway.

What B$!

I wonder how much of a bonus Dr. Petzel got for stepping down 4 weeks early. Obama admin strategy; deflect and ignore.

Madder than hell that this cost him a stroke…

He’s madder than hell? How can you tell? Did he take out his red crayon and start drawing lines on the floor?

Bullshite. If Sh!tsacky is still in charge, that’s not enough “change”.

Ward Cleaver on May 19, 2014 at 9:18 AM

This is all a bunch of bs. Feigned anger is a trademark of the left. HRC at the Benghazi hearing is another perfect example. Try and throw you off the scent.

rjoco1 on May 19, 2014 at 11:11 AM

Another distraction for Obie’s golf game.

I haven’t seen anything being done to correct the underlying problem at this time. Congress investigating does nothing.

More 0bama staff infection.

If you love Obamacare, you’ll really love the VA!!1!!1!11!!!!!11!

Nutstuyu on May 19, 2014 at 12:37 PM

Yeah but all I heard was what is being done. Not what has been accomplished. Typical of a feckless leader.

jake49 on May 19, 2014 at 12:41 PM

F*cking pathetic.

C’mon, couldn’t they find someone that retired 2 weeks *ago* and say *that* person was fired because of this? It’d be as believable.

Midas on May 19, 2014 at 1:14 PM

If this isn’t enough, we’ll look around and fire someone who’s six weeks from retirement! No mercy, that’s our motto!

wagnert in atlanta on May 19, 2014 at 6:25 PM

Makes me sick, katrina happens (mind you, natural, not man-made disaster) and the media accuses Boosh of not caring about and letting black people die because…they’re black… this VA scandal happens on O’s watch and the media is meh, Petzel resigned, what more do you want…
