Jon Huntsman: You know, Hillary Clinton’s pretty goshdarned terrific

posted at 6:01 pm on May 7, 2014 by Allahpundit

He said this in the same interview in which he said he hasn’t ruled out running for president again someday. Dude, I think this could be the guy.

You tell me: What’s the angle here? Could be as simple as Huntsman burnishing his brand. He is, after all, the national co-chair of No Labels, and nothing’s less Labels-y than a nominal Republican quasi-endorsing the presumptive Democratic nominee two years before an election. Or, it could be that this is simple revenge against the conservative wing of his party for the disdain they showed him in 2011-12. You’ll never convince me that that’s not part of the reason why McCain’s so eager to attack the “wacko birds” in the Senate. He dislikes them and their positions, sure, but it’s also a thumb in the eye of the right-wingers who’ve been calling him a RINO and amnesty shill for years. I’m already on record as saying there’s a fair chance that Maverick will end up endorsing his pal Hillary; if he does, antagonizing conservatives will be one of his motives.

Or maybe those theories are wrong. Maybe this is as simple as Huntsman calculating the odds for a new career opportunity and wagering smartly. In all likelihood, his path back into politics will be blocked for years to come. He’s not going to primary Mike Lee for Senate in Utah, I assume; he could try to replace Orrin Hatch when Hatch retires, but Hatch’s seat won’t be up again until 2018. He’s obviously not going to win the GOP nomination, as he himself admits. (Follow the link up top and you’ll find him wondering aloud how he’d get through the early primary states.) So either he’s stuck running for governor again once Gary Herbert retires or he can take a hard look at 2016, decide who he thinks is the most likely candidate to win, and start sucking up in hopes of landing another diplomatic position in the administration. Maybe ambassador to China again under President Hillary? Maybe secretary of state? Shed your labels and dream big, my friends.

What or who is holding him in the GOP and why ?

Okay, Vladimir Huntsman, if she’s so hot then push Huma out of the way and have at it. BTW, change your party registration first.

Huntsman’s on the Hunt. He’s a troll, trolling for a place on the pantsuit hem of the presumptive first female (debatable) Prez. He’s beginning to remind me of Charlie ‘Tuna’ Crist. I’m g’wan hang in there and see which of these sycophants hits bottom, first.

Huntsman is just another Democrat/Marxist mole/infiltrator, like so many others that we nominally call RINO’s. There purpose is to infiltrate and destroy from within. They are as corrupt as any Democrat.

katy the mean old lady on May 7, 2014 at 6:15 PM

Why?

That is the question everybody should ask anyone who says things like that.

Why?

Then when they stutter, say this-

“I’ll make it easy for you. Give me her five biggest accomplishments in the last twenty years, other than getting something because of her name.”

That should about do it.

Mr. Hipsterdon did say “I’m a public servant, Larry, and as a public servant I found that politics is a lot about serendipity, you know, it’s hard to be able to pre-plan where you might find yourself as a public servant.”

So yeah off to Libya he goes, or Afghanistan, maybe even Zimbabwe. The guy’s a public servant, after all.

These “republican” men are the new, new castrati*…their masculinity is a casualty of the war on women. Queen Hillary shall not be criticized.
And my, how far Larry King has fallen. From glitzy CNN set to stark white room and furniture. Is he broadcasting from his sanitarium? I think I see padding on those walls.

*

RUSH: (laughing) Now, the New Castrati, when I started imitating it, that’s basically men with no guts who have just been bullied by women and the power structure and liberalism in general. So when I do the imitation of those guys, the New Castrati, basically these are people that just have been bullied into total acquiescence to the liberal agenda. They don’t stand up for themselves. They never stand up for what’s right for themselves. They’re just total appeasers. They just totally go along to avoid any resistance or confrontation whatsoever.

The Dems are clearly going to run somebody with a birth canal. They would consider an illegal or a gay but that is more problematic. So they’re going with a gal. How better to bridge that than put a “Republican” on the ticket to call it a bipartisan? Christie or Huntsman would fit the bill wonderfully. A filthy Obama-loving liberal with an R behind their names by heritage and not principle.

Sorry Martin O’Malley, I don’t think you’ve been liberal enough to matter to anybody.

Why all the hate for Huntsman? Just because he dares to stray from the Republican plantation? Do you view him as a run away slave? Someone who should show a little appreciation for The Masters who allowed him to serve the public.

This man is bipartisan. He saw how badly his country needed him, so he stepped up to serve. Aren’t you Facist Repubs always complaining about Obamas lack of “outreach” to the other (dark) side? He graciously allowed a hard core conservative into his administration. How many hard left people did W have on his team? Apparently not many considering we are still looking under Iraqi beds for WMD’s.

AZCoyote on May 7, 2014 at 9:16 PM

The number one question to Huntsman ought to be: “what is so terrific about Hillary Clinton? Please explain her accomplishments as Secretary of State.”

And could the slithy tove above please explain the rest of the class why he considers Republicans to be “fascists?” How about conservatives or tea-party groups? Do fascists want bigger government or smaller government? Do tea-party groups? Do conservatives? What about the Democratic party? What about progressives?

RockinRickOwen on May 7, 2014 at 10:07 PM

Huntsman was a good governor of the reddest state in the union – with approval ratings of 80+%. This is what RINO hunters don’t understand. He talks moderate, but his policies ARE conservative. I mean, he actually has a record and it’s more than just soundbites that rub you the wrong way. His praise of Clinton is just state-craft. It’s what statesmen do. He would never endorse a Democrat for president.

Huntsman is to Crist as Cruz is to Biden. Give your venom a rest every now and then.

I said this once before, but it bears repeating.

Bill Clinton: I feel your pain.

Hillary Clinton: What difference, at this point, does it make?!

Hillary Clinton is never going to be president. I’d like to say it’s because everyone realizes her low moral character and basic incompetence, but it’s really because she’s a terrible politician, who’s only famous because she was married to a president.

There Goes the Neighborhood on May 8, 2014 at 9:52 AM

There’s always an opening or two in any administration for appointing someone from the other party to appear more bipartisan. There’s his opportunity.

ceruleanblue on May 7, 2014 at 10:17 PM

So he was conservative while governor of a very conservative state. Sounds like go-along-to-get-along.

But you put your finger on the problem with moderates.

He talks moderate, but his policies ARE conservative.

Moderates seem to have no ability or inclination to stand up for conservative positions or values. Mitt Romney was able to dismantle the Obama economic record in his first debate, but completely failed to close the deal by saying what was wrong with Obama’s policies, and why a Republican president could fix them.

Bush 41 was also incapable of talking conservative. Bush 43 could talk like a conservative, but usually only did it while campaigning.

John McCain and Mitt Romney are nearly as bad as Augustus Huntsman.
