Former Obama NSC spokesman on Benghazi: “Dude, this was like, two years ago.”

posted at 9:51 pm on May 1, 2014 by Erika Johnsen

Apparently, investigations into White House officials deliberately lying to the American people about the nature of a terrorist attack that resulted in the deaths of four Americans do have a shelf life — and Democrats, their strategists, and their spokesmen would like you to know that that time has long since passed. Via the WFB:

Former National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor addressed Fox News host Bret Baier as “dude” and said he could hardly remember how he helped change the Benghazi talking points because it was “two years ago.” …

Baier pressed Vietor on his role in changing the talking points by adding a line about the administration warning the day before the attacks of “social media reports calling for demonstrations,” in order to bolster the false idea that the attack was the spontaneous result of a riot against the video. Vietor affirmed this, but when Baier asked him if he’d changed “attacks” to “demonstrations,” he got amnesia.

“Dude, this was like two years ago,” Vietor said. “We’re still talking about the most mundane process.”

Judging by the gentleman’s Tweet prior to the show, this wasn’t exactly a spontaneous outburst. #ThrowbackThursday, ya’ll!

I might also point out that the attack was actually only 20 months ago, but hey, maybe that’s just me nitpicking — and of course, for Hillary “What Difference, At This Point, Does It Make?” Clinton, that shelf life was a mere four months after the attack, so whatever, right?

Yes, I just checked. Obama did go to Vegas for a fundraiser less than 24 hours after the Benghazi attack. Can you even imagine the uproar that would have ensued if Bush had done that?

Palin or Cruz must have lent Boehner a backbone.

Trey Gowdy will eat them alive. this will be great to watch.

1. What exactly was Obama doing during the attack and murder of four American citizens?
2. What were Hillary Clinton’s responsibilities, and how did she execute them?
3. Who prevented the military from executing a rescue attempt?

At least to me, all other issues pale in comparison.

I suspect that Obama was sleeping- resting up for his trip to Las Vegas.
I suspect that Clinton was flustered by the event and had no clue what her duties were or what she could do to help, and, therefore, was simply “absent”.
I suspect that Panetta was responsible for preventing any military action, with or without the knowledge and consent of Obama.

They are all, at a minimum, guilty of dereliction of duty and should be held accountable.

Ugh. So many comments I could make about that, but so little time.

Just this…

The longtime Obama staffer says it’s not without some sadness that he moves on, recalling a recent conversation he had with the president.

“I said ‘Sir, you know, talking about it, and I feel it’s a little sad to be leaving,’ and he was like ‘what do you mean sad for you?’ he said, ‘it’s sad for me! You guys are you know, ditching me’,” Vietor recalls to Politics Confidential of his conversation with the president.

I bet he didn’t really say ‘Sir’ he had to have said ‘Dude’

Led by Trey Gowdy to boot? This should be very interesting!

DebraChicago on May 2, 2014 at 1:37 PM

I think Tommy just doesn’t want to admit that Obama was in the situation room and didn’t do jack about our guys, didn’t attempt to help them as they watched the attack live. In fact, he or Hilary must’ve given the stand down order. It’s probably better to say he wasn’t “aware” wasn’t there, etc.

DebraChicago on May 2, 2014 at 1:41 PM

Trey Gowdy is the best. No smarty pants, no dudes, and no valley girls with Gowdy in charge.

Researching Vietor I found a very interesting link to Vietor from 2012, concerning Obama releasing the blind sheik and the timing of Benghazi

The blind sheik is no longer discussed concerning Benghazi, but the timeline is telling. It went though some circles at the time of Benghazi, that there was going to be a (possibly) staged attack on Benghazi in order to effect a hostage exchange for the Blind Sheik. Some suggested it would have advantaged Obama in the soon to come election, as his numbers were down badly. However, thanks to a hurricane and Christie, Obama did well without a hostage

It’s just more typical liberal “logic.”

Liberals believe it makes perfect sense to continue blaming Bush 60 months later, but it’s silly to talk about Benghazi, the murder of our Ambassador and other Americans and the following Administration cover up a mere 20 months later.

Liberals believe that by age 18 (or younger) you are old enough to make your choice to have consensual sex – but you’re never old enough to come to a consensual agreement with an employer about what you are willing to accept for a job salary; the government must set wages for you.

Liberals want government out of the bedroom, but want everyone else to pay for what they choose to do in that bedroom.

Liberals believe we must carpool to reduce pollution and use of non-renewable resources, but ridesharing might not be safe and must be outlawed.

Liberals believe that women are never old enough to actually take care of themselves without government help (see “Life of Julia” courtesy Obama), but young teen girls are old enough to decide to have an abortion without their parents knowledge..

Liberals believe it’s abhorrent to possibly disturb the caribou in remote Alaska for oil, but it’s fine to fry and dice and explode massive numbers of birds, bats, and insects for wind and solar power throughout the nation.

Liberals believe requiring voter ID is discriminatory against minorities, but it’s perfectly fine to require the same ID for purchasing over the counter decongestants, entering all federal buildings, entering any court house, participating in a no-voter-ID rally, getting any federal benefit, having a savings or checking account, using a credit card or a check, buying any alcoholic beverage, participating at a Democratic Party National Convention, to board a NC NAACP bus to protest voter ID laws in NC, rent an appartment or buy a house, to buy a car, to get a library card, to get a post office box, to get a job, to open a bank account, to go to school, to get a credit card, to get a cell phone account, to get an internet provider, to get electric service, to get water service, to get car insurance, to get helth insurance, to get home owners insurance, to get life insurance, to get tags for your dog, to buy beer and wine, to join a gym, to put something on lay-away at wal-mart, to get a fishing or hunting license, to buy a gun, to get a carry permit, to get a permit to renovate your house, to register a buissness, to sell junk to a scrap yard, hell at disney world they require finger prints, to sign up for welfare, to get food stamps, to cash a check, to rent a motel room, etc., etc., etc.

Not surprising, coming from the same people who expect wars to have a set date for ending, regardless of the outcome.

8. 1967 Israel – Arab war

Actually … I’m a little surprised that the administration allowed this interview because some of these statements might well be used against Vietor … later. Baier was grilling him in a way that the committees failed to do with some of their witnesses.
