Video: Two weeks later, no word on schoolgirls abducted by Nigerian terrorist group

posted at 10:01 am on April 30, 2014 by Ed Morrissey

A horrific attack on a Christian school in Nigeria resulted in the abduction of more than 200 girls. Dozens escaped, but the Nigerian government’s numbers of those left conflict with the school’s much-higher figures that put the number of those still missing close to 200.  Rumors of their status float out through uncorroborated news reports, including one that has the girls sold off into marriages to Islamist terrorists.

MSNBC’s Tamron Hall interviewed the AP beat reporter in Nigeria to get an update, and the truth is that we just don’t know what has happened to the girls yet. Nor does it appear that the government has succeeded in finding out what happened in the first place, except that this was a Boko Haram operation:

Nigerian women plan to hold a protest march in Abuja to pressure the government into action:

Protesters will hold a “million-woman march” in the Nigerian capital Wednesday over the government’s failure to rescue scores of schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamists two weeks ago.

Angry Nigerian parents lashed out at the government Tuesday as a local leader claimed the hostages had been sold as wives abroad.

“May God curse every one of those who has failed to free our girls,” said Enoch Mark, whose daughter and two nieces were among the more than 100 students abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School in the Chibok area of the northeastern state of Borno. …

Borno officials have said 129 girls were kidnapped when gunmen stormed the school after sundown on April 14 and forced the students — who are between 12 and 17 years old — onto a convoy of trucks. Officials said 52 have since escaped.

Locals, including the school’s principal, have rejected those numbers, insisting that 230 students were snatched and that 187 are still being held hostage.

The Nigerian Senate pushed President Goodluck Jonathan to ask for UN assistance in finding the abducted girls. Parents and family members have begun arranging their own search parties to do what the Nigerian military either cannot or will not do to rescue the girls. At the moment, though, no one knows where they are or what Boko Haram plans to do with them.

Pray for them, and for their families.

Nigerian authorities obviously want this story to go away, and our own media is very uncomfortable covering the true nature of those who worship Allah. Unfortunately I think it is likely these young girls were all sold into slavery.

Slavery in the 21st century….

“In Niger and neighbouring Nigeria a practice of slavery still operates where women and young girls are sold into sexual and domestic slavery as the unofficial wives known as ‘wahaya’.

Girls from the ‘black Tuareg’ group are sold by their Tuareg ‘masters’ to wealthy men, including religious leaders, from the Hausa ethnic group in Northern Nigeria, who view the purchase of young women as a sign of prestige.

Once sold the girls are known as ‘wahaya’ or ‘fifth wives’ – because they are additional to the four wives legally permitted in Niger and Nigeria. Yet no actual marriage ever takes place and their status and role is far lower than that of the official wives. They are treated solely as property and have none of the legal rights of a wife.

Typically sold from between £200 and £500 ($300-$800), 43% of the girls interviewed for an Anti-Slavery International report were sold between the age of nine and 11 years old and 83% were sold before the age of 15. It is common for the ‘master’ to force sexual relations with the girls as soon as they reach puberty. The girls are also forced to work without pay, never allowed to leave their family home apart from to work in their master’s fields or take livestock to pasture. Many are also forced to wear a heavy brass ankle ring to signify their slave status.

‘Wahaya’ not only face regular rape and physical abuse from their master but are constantly mistreated by the legitimate wives, who view ‘wahaya’ and any children they bear as competition to their own interests.

Read our report on ‘Wahaya’ practice.

The Niger Schools Project that Anti-Slavery International supports helps ensure that girls and women stay out of slavery and that they won’t be sold by their masters as ‘wahaya’. The project provides primary education, teaching on human rights and small business loans with low interest rates to the mothers of pupils, giving them and their children hope for the future and freedom from their former lives. Click here to read more about the schools and make a donation to ensure the schools can stay open through the current food crisis….”

Big difference between killing effeminite liberals or soldiers that have their hands tied by polticially correct leaders and those that can shoot and fight. Not real difficult to figure out who the terrorists are. 99% of the time it’s them.

First World Order Problems (part 3)

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Tuesday ordered the DoD to review its policies concerning hairstyles popular with black women, telling critics of new Army regulations banning large cornrows, twists and dreadlocks that he takes “very seriously” concerns that military rules on hair have unfairly targeted black women.

This on the heels of the Army banning “toe shoes” because they looked funny.

Why isn’t Chuck Hagel asking if Nigeria needs help with the S&R?

Why isn’t Kerry commenting on this instead of spewing hatred at Jews.

Why isn’t Obama talking about girls that look like his filthy brats instead of talking about racist billionaires?

And where’s the media?

Human Trafficking is a growing problem…

It happens here…and it’s a Big Business.

“A documentary filmed on location in the FM 1960 and Houston area is shedding light on a niche of human trafficking that has so far been difficult to regulate under existing laws.

The film focuses on cantineras, Latin women whose job is to sell liquor through whatever means necessary. More often than not, a woman will drink up to 40 beers a night and prostitute herself to meet an employer’s quotas, said filmmaker Ruth Villatoro.

“With the cantinas, a guy will pay $10-15 and he’ll get the companionship of a girl. As long as he continues paying, she’ll continue drinking with him,” she said. “Most of the time that leads to sex.”
Villatoro began filming “The Cantinera” five years ago after stumbling across an article in the Houston Press.

“When I started the story, I didn’t know what I was getting into. I found the story in the Houston Press about a guy who fell in love with a cantinera,” she said. “To me the story was about the girl. I wanted to know who she was and why she was drinking so much.

“When I really got into the story, I realized they’re not doing it because they want to do it,” she said. “I thought I was just going to do a story about a girl who drinks for a living, but when I found out about their lifestyle, I realized this was human trafficking.”

Women who come to the country illegally and don’t speak English are tricked into working in cantinas, she said. They are already breaking the law, so they can’t ask for help, she said.

“A recruiter is an expert at identifying vulnerability,” she said. “They sell a story to a family, saying we have a restaurant in the United States. Your daughter will work as a waitress. They end up sending their daughter, not knowing what’s going to happen. The minute the daughter is separated from her family is when the threats start.”

The majority of Villatoro’s film follows Liliana, a second generation cantinera and a U.S. citizen, who was taken out of school at 12, and forced to drink and prostitute herself. Liliana drank 30 to 40 beers five nights a week for 23 years, she said.

“You think she would be dead on the side of the road after living that way so long,” said Villatoro.
“She was not in a good place. I was so fortunate she opened up. She did not have the fear of deportation like the other girls.”

In the end, Liliana had the power to change her life, but most cantineras aren’t so lucky, she said.

Villatoro’s other subjects include two human trafficking activists: Dottie Laster, a legal representative for human trafficking victims and Cat French, director of the Houston office of Exodus Cry, an international anti-trafficking ministry.

Together the trio visited more than 160 sexually oriented businesses in the Greater Houston areas and identified 600 to 700 unverified ones.

While cantineras can work freelance or be employed by a cantina, most cantina owners know how to protect their business from being shut down. Owners usually have legitimate liquor licenses but are not considered a “sexually oriented business,” which are subject to additional regulations, she said. A few tricks include registering businesses under different names and guises.

“If there’s a police raid, the cantinas can protect themselves by having the prostitution take place in another building,” she said. “What happens is the girls are the ones who take the brunt of the arrests.”

While unincorporated Harris County has made progress with new sexually oriented business regulations, Villatoro believes businesses and citizens will play an active role in ending human trafficking.

“The most important thing is that the community is aware of the problem now,” she said. “ Business owners need to learn the signs and watch the businesses around them. That can make a huge a difference. It can make a change….”

http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/cypresscreek/news/the-cantinera-exposes-niche-of-human-trafficking/article_1fa4763f-f27c-5f4b-b97a-4ef8a99e294a.html

But we can’t criticize the multi-culti diversity….cause that would be raaacist or something….

Dated 2010

““As many as 20 to 25 girls from the Hindu community are abducted every month and converted forcibly, said Amarnath Motumal, an advocate and council member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.”

– “‘There is no official record to support this statement, but according to estimates, in Karachi alone, a large number of Hindu girls are being kidnapped on a routine basis,’ Motumal told The News. “The families of the victims are scared to register cases against the influential perpetrators as death threats are issued to them in case they raise their voice. So, the victims choose to remain silent to save their lives,’ he said….”

And we call our bar girls “liberated.”

Nomennovum on April 30, 2014 at 10:38 AM

My heart goes out to them. In the 90s, during the Bosnia/Serb conflict, the Serbs would raid the villages and rape 5 and 6 year old girls. Despicable.

Bitter Clinger on April 30, 2014 at 10:42 AM

This is simple, it is Islam doing what it does best and fits in the category of a religion and set of beliefs that has not changed since its inception. Good grief, there is silence because this is Islam.. that’s it.
What a disgusting story.
Why are we doing nothing? Oh, right, it is Islam.

dawndawn on April 30, 2014 at 10:40 AM

Let’s be clear: the Serbs were not the only ones. The Serbs were not the “bad guys” in BiH – every single side in that conflict was committing atrocities, including the Muslims (Bosniaks). Most of the reporting on the conflict was wrong (that infamous Time cover with the guy in the ‘prison camp’ was a particularly egregious example). The Serbs were no angels, but the Croats and the ‘Bosniaks’ were just as bad.

paul1149 on April 30, 2014 at 11:06 AM

This isn’t an isolated incident. Muslims in Nigeria have been systematically agitating for total takeover of Nigeria for decades now. The country is basically divided between the North and the South. Churches are routinely burned down and Christians targeted.

More good things from the Religion of Peace. That’s why it was so necessary to make sure there’s a copy of the Koran in the White House library and annual Ramadan dinners.

Wait thirty years and see what happens in Paris, Berlin, London and Rome. Perhaps sooner.

That’s the real answer–they are cheering on the forcible conversion of Christians. And since when has the raping of little girls ever bothered a leftist? Just ask Roman Polanski. And Whoopi Goldberg.

Rumors of their status float out through uncorroborated news reports, including one that has the girls sold off into marriages to Islamist terrorists.

I realize these are still uncorroborated rumors, but Islam has a very, very long history of human trafficking in female captives. It was one of the features of their adventures into Europe. Lots of blond-haired women in Spain were sent back to sultans’ harems in the Middle East.

The power of propaganda. Blacks have been sold the notion that Christianity is a white man’s religion, and that Islam is a religion for black men. As if your religion should be decided by your race.

And, of course, the truth is that Christianity made it to Africa at least a little bit before it reached Spain. And that the slave trade in the US started with buying black slaves from Arab Muslim traders. And that the slave trade continued in the Muslim world long after it stopped in the Christian world.
