New Landrieu ad: The Obama administration’s oil and gas policies are just plain wrong

posted at 1:21 pm on April 15, 2014 by Erika Johnsen

Sen. Landrieu’s first ad of her reelection campaign, released at the beginning of the year, was all about her talking tough to President Obama over his if-you-like-it, you-can-keep-it ObamaCare whopper, and this week her campaign is dropping $250,000 to run another ad featuring her talking tough to the Obama administration over energy policy. If any issue can sufficiently distract from the healthcare disaster in Louisiana to get her a victory, it’ll be energy, and Landrieu is predictably taking full advantage of her new position as chair of the Senate Energy Committee: Oil royalties, energy jobs, the post-BP spill drilling moratorium, and anything else she can use to distance herself from Obama are all fair game here.

Just show the voters your record and let them decide.
Oh, can’t do that !

Well, then she should put her money where her mouth is: pass a bill demanding opening up all the energy stuff. Impeach the EPA. Etc etc etc.

And you forgot to mention the best part: The committee hearings are fake. All acted out to appear tough against Obama.

Good ad, but the election not going to be about her. It’s going to be about and against Obama. In the red states, good luck in trying to localize the races this year.

Mary, you can run…but you cannot hide. Let’s see that voting record…oh you can’t show it to us, the dog ate it.

Anyone stupid enough to vote this c*nt back into office deserves the result of those Potemkin committee hearings.

Okay, that’s a thread winner. ;0

And BTW, her ad is pathetic. She doesn not come off as a fighter but, rather, a bitter and angry schoolmarm.

Happy Nomad on April 15, 2014 at 1:41 PM

I wonder if anyone in Louisiana thinks Landrieu believes a word she is saying.

Especially when she has been Obama’s rubber for the past five years.

And no, I didn’t forget the word “stamp”.

TXUS on April 15, 2014 at 1:38 PM

Good ad? You’re kidding, right? The most telling thing is that she doesn’t address Louisianans directly. All we see her faux foaming at the mouth for the camera at various times since 1997. With the only support that she actually accomplished something (she didn’t) was the narrator saying that she fought for Louisiana and she won. Not a whole lot of substance in that.

Utter Shullbit.

“So, Obama’s policies are bad, and even though I’ve been a tool for Obama, vote to keep me and his party in power so I can keep being a tool for his failed policies.”

dentarthurdent on April 15, 2014 at 1:50 PM

Shame on those voters if they fall for her pandering and lies once more. She does not represent you, she represents yet another Obama vote in the Senate…if you like what you’re getting so far from that, so be it, but I can’t imagine why you would.

changer1701 on April 15, 2014 at 1:50 PM

Yeah she’s fought so hard to change those policies.

Good ad … for the LIVs. I agree that it won’t wash ultimately, but it shows that they’re seeing in their polls a need to inspire/solidify the low-infos, and that’s who that ad is aimed at. Sign of desperation, if you ask me.

TXUS on April 15, 2014 at 2:00 PM

All Democrats today use the Clinton gambit of “run right and govern left”. As soon as she’s comfortably re-elected, she’ll be the biggest Gaia-loving, humanity-hating tree-hugger you ever saw. And Louisiana has a lot of trees.

Progressives are human-hating, authoritarian, homicidal Utopian compulsive liars. Nothing more, nothing less.

If I were her opponent, I’d just run ads with her voting record.

Occams Stubble on April 15, 2014 at 2:09 PM

If those policies are wrong, then the Chairwoman of the Senate Energy Committee should be advancing legislation to change them.
C’mon Citizens of Louisiana, demand that the Chairwoman of the Committee that can affect the lives and jobs of you and yours change things.
If she was truly interested in what happens in your state, she would.
Or, she’ll just take the money for another “Louisiana Purchase” as she did with the passage of ObamaCare.

The ad is aimed at voters along the coast where the offshore oil and gas service companies and shipyards are located.

Anyone who thinks that tying her to Obama and Obamacare is going to defeat her is clueless and has an IQ of drool. It certainly helps but does NOT win the day.

I am certain this ad was the administration’s idea. Something like…”Everyone with a tough fight for re-election blame me. I am term limited and they can’t do anything to me” (unless he tries to change the Constitution to allow another term). If I were running against her I would ask to see one vote where she voted against the Party Line. I would also add things like “Your record and your name will follow you till the end, Does either impress anyone?”

I want to see a video of a little girl in pajamas complaining “Daddy, I’m cold!” with a voice-over talking about rising energy prices and shrinking job market, thanks to Obama and the Democrats.

Socratease on April 15, 2014 at 2:50 PM

The most shameless thing about the ad is that part of it is not real. Some of the video of committees are recreation and the words have been changed to help her

New Landrieu ad: The Obama administration’s oil and gas policies are just plain wrong

And when Obama needs her vote on oil and gas policy she will happily deliver it.

Ah! I see we’ve had another sighting of that mythical creature known as the, “Conservative Democrat.” Just like the Lockness Monster, Bigfoot, and the Chupacabra, this too will turn out to be complete and utter baloney. This happens every election cycle, and hopefully one day, the populace at large will wake up to the ruse.

cajunpatriot on April 15, 2014 at 3:42 PM

If you don’t like Obama’s oil and gas policies then your best bet is to give the other guys control of Congress so they can do something about it. Little ole Mary Landrieu can’t do anything by herself even if she were willing to vote against Dear Leader, which she isn’t.

Missy on April 15, 2014 at 4:09 PM

Republicans should turn her own ad around on her.

Play a clip of her saying how much she opposes Obama’s energy policies. Then have our candidate asking when she has EVER effectively opposed those policies or forced a change. No, our dear little Mary has been a steady supporter of Obama policy about 90% of the time.

Excellent. But obama, of course, is fully on board with anything Landreiu has to do to get reelected. He needs every (D) possible, at any cost, and her ascension to the chair of the energy committee was a conscious part of the strategy.

Genius. He answers the little girl, “I’m sorry honey, but President Obama said that the price of electricity had to necessarily skyrocket because ‘global warming’, so we can’t afford to keep our home as warm as we would like.”
