United Nations: It’s not too late to save the planet, but only if everybody immediately does everything we tell them to

posted at 1:21 pm on April 14, 2014 by Erika Johnsen

The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change finally did their big reveal on Sunday of the already-leaked third installment of their four-part climate-change report jointly composed by every big-wig climate scientist, progressive economist, and globalist politician they can scrape together, and surprise: It includes just about every type of dire warning and urgent recommendation we’ve been hearing for decades on decades now. Nutshell version: The world is only a matter of years away from all-consuming calamity, but if every country could just bite the bullet and immediately commit to aggressively decelerating their own domestic economies in concert with global standards, things just might work out for humanity. So sayeth the “experts”:

Delivering the latest stark news about climate change on Sunday, a United Nations panel warned that governments are not doing enough to avert profound risks in coming decades. But the experts found a silver lining: Not only is there still time to head off the worst, but the political will to do so seems to be rising around the world.

In a report unveiled here, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change found that decades of foot-dragging by political leaders had propelled humanity into a critical situation, with greenhouse emissions rising faster than ever. Though it remains technically possible to keep planetary warming to a tolerable level, only an intensive push over the next 15 years to bring those emissions under control can achieve the goal, the committee found.

“We cannot afford to lose another decade,” said Ottmar Edenhofer, a German economist and co-chairman of the committee that wrote the report. “If we lose another decade, it becomes extremely costly to achieve climate stabilization.” …

The authors found that tackling the problem in a serious way would carry large costs, shaving a few hundredths of a percentage point off global economic growth each year. By the end of the century, societies would most likely be far richer than today, but almost 5 percent poorer than they would have been had they not spent the money to protect the climate, according to the study.

Among the report’s vague-to-specific ideas for ways to willfully self-impoverish in the name of stabilizing global temperatures: More taxpayer subsidization of renewables to force higher investment in the field, more regulation governing efficiency and transportation standards (like more government-sponsored walking and cycling trends), getting rid of fossil fuel use altogether by the end of the century, human dietary changes (a.k.a., going full vegetarian and getting rid of pesky methane-emitting livestock), and so on and so forth.

Some of the ideas I can get behind from the report are encouraging more energy from natural gas and nuclear plants — or, rather, at least not actively inhibiting their development for political gamesmanship (although, of course, the UN sees these sources as a ‘bridge’ to their zero-fossil fuel future). Germany tried to completely get rid of nuclear power and discourage fracking in favor of all-out renewable subsidization with a plan pretty solidly resembling what the UN is recommending for the entire world, and guess what happened there? More coal and a whole lotta’ backtracking, that’s what. Oops.

Conundrums: The six contradictions of liberalism/socialism in the United States of America:

1. America is capitalist and greedy – yet half of the population is subsidized.

2. Half of the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims.

3. They think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government.

4. Their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep gettingpoorer.

5. The poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.

6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.

Let me see. According to the UN ‘Scientists’, in order to save the planet the entire World must shave a ‘few hundredths of a percentage point off global economic growth every year’ (I believe they really mean about 100 hundredths). In that calculus, total global economic ‘growth’ will reach a zero point in less than 100 years, and drop by the same every year, thereafter. In a bit over a hundred years, we will be well on our way to a global population of about the same as in 1800 and burning babies for fuel. Oh wait, it’s already started in England…

There was once a young Shepherd Boy who tended his sheep at the foot of a mountain near a dark forest. It was rather lonely for him all day, so he thought upon a plan by which he could get a little company and some excitement. He rushed down towards the village calling out “Wolf, Wolf,” and the villagers came out to meet him, and some of them stopped with him for a considerable time. This pleased the boy so much that a few days afterwards he tried the same trick, and again the villagers came to his help. But shortly after this a Wolf actually did come out from the forest, and began to worry the sheep, and the boy of course cried out “Wolf, Wolf,” still louder than before. But this time the villagers, who had been fooled twice before, thought the boy was again deceiving them, and nobody stirred to come to his help. So the Wolf made a good meal off the boy’s flock, and when the boy complained, the wise man of the village said:

“A liar will not be believed, even when he speaks the truth.”

’nuff said.

Based on three US government reports, with their categories, the US government expenditures on climate change exceed $165 Billion, since Fiscal Year (FY) 1993. Expenditures on what the reports identify as climate science exceeds $35 Billion since FY 1993.

Seattle’s SeaTac airport solves local Global Warming by replacing broken thermometer …

It seems it took a catastrophic failure of a thermometer to correct Seattle’s problem — a problem that appears to have been around for several months, if not longer. Looking back at 2013, Seattle ran consistently about 0.5 to 1.0 degrees warmer with respect to its average than Olympia (i.e., if Olympia reported a month about a half degree above normal, Seattle was 1-1.5 degrees above normal.)

Actually, I think the ‘silver lining’, at least for the world, would be that they would be gone right along with the rest of us…if they got their way.

The whole underlying theme with ‘climate change’, formerly known as ‘Anthropogenic Global Warming’, is that humans are a blight on ‘Mother Earth’.

It’s the overarching irony, and basic nihilism, of the progressive vision.

Conundrums: The six contradictions of liberalism/socialism in the United States of America

Just goes to show how little you understand the structural changes transforming the US and global economies.

It’s not the poor that keeps getting poorer, it’s the middle class that’s losing the most. And it’s not because of ‘subsidies’ to war veterans or social security recipients. It’s not the poor holding back the rest of the country, as you imply at the pinnacle of ignorance and fatuous thinking. Of course, most of the whining comes from beggar states that spend more federal dollars than they contribute in taxes, if you want to carry out that meme even further.

http://www.businessinsider.com/wealth-and-income-inequality-in-america-2013-4?op=1

A nation’s poor don’t define its trajectory. The problem isn’t the bottom 5% stealing from the bottom 10%. You really need to stop blaming the poor and try thinking for yourself.

That sounds like a plan to me!

Have a bunch elitist retards huffing-and-puffing, exhaling even more CO2. Which will require more caloric intake in order to perform all that walking and cycling. That will then require more land to grow crops (no cows allowed!), which is okay, since no one in the world is starving in the world already.

Of course that makes sense, since once we lower the amount of manmade CO2 emissions, there wont be enough CO2 to aspirate the vegetation to feed all us newly minted vegetarians/vegans.

What a great plan!!!!

Except that like serving Satan because he will give you power, it doesn’t actually work out like that. Satan doesn’t share his power with anyone, and Marxist’s do not share either.

Marxism is a human pyramid, where everyone is always looking for a way to eliminate the person above them on the food chain, while trying to guard against being eliminated by someone beneath them.

Us Buckeyes all get to live like the Amish. At best.

Everything else goes back to the Indians Native Americans whatever you’re allowed to call them today.

Except for the parts even they’re not allowed into.

In the end, you have a North America only the Gears would understand.

And no, it isn’t going to support over 300 million people. No way, no how.

I estimate its “carrying capacity” at about 10 million total. That works out to about half a million “enlightened thought leaders”, about one million armed guards, and eight and a half million peasants to support the above.

Which means about 290 million of us have to die for it to work.

Of course, the enlightened ones see us as compost already. So from their POV, that’s a feature, not a bug.

Future history (assuming there’s anyone who can still read and write well enough to record same) will put the IPCC report right next to two other notable works about “saving the world”. That it resembles to a remarkable degree.

Mao’s Little Red Book and Herr Schicklgruber’s Mein Kampf.

There has been a issue in Antarctica with respect to ice melt. It concerns the Ross Ice shelf, though it has absolutely nothing to do with global warming. The Ross Ice-shelf just happens to sit on top of a submerged volcanic mountain range, not all volcano’s have a single catastrophic eruption, many have very long term continues magma flows. The volcano’s underneath the Ross Ice-shelf started discharging magma during the mid 80′s.

Yes, rising greenhouse emissions, yet no global temperature rise for at least the past 15 years. I was watching a TV series on dinosaurs and they were talking about how the warmer global temperatures coming into the Cretaceous period led to the greatest explosion of biodiversity and new species in Earth’s history with temps much warmer than now. Looking at paleotemperature charts what is stunning to me is how incredibly stable the global temperature has been since the end of the last ice age. Just following the trends after prior ice ages we should be coming towards a temperature spike of 3-5°F above the last several millennium somewhere in the future.

Long and short is that looking back millions of years, the most obvious things are the unusual stability in global temps over the last 10k years or so and that mean global warming in the range of which the IPCC “warns” is well within the pattern we would expect over the last million years or so.

Any global warming over the next few thousand years would be a natural cycle. So, I don’t doubt that there very wall may be global warming coming, but that it is anthropogenic is total horse squeeze.

And after that…. no more children… the human population must be curbed and controlled… for the sake of “Mother Earth”.

And after that…

Relationships that may result in human procreation will be forbidden.

“We cannot afford to lose another decade,” said Ottmar Edenhofer, a German economist and co-chairman of the committee that wrote the report. “If we lose another decade, it becomes extremely costly to achieve climate stabilization.” …

Since global average temperatures haven’t risen over the past 15 years, maybe the climate has “stabilized” naturally without the help of the IPCC.

If we “lose” another decade and the climate remains stable for a total of 25 years, what will Ottmar Edenhofer say then?

Give them more money, pay for them to hold “meetings” in the most desirable vacation spots, wine and dine them at the priciest restaurants, give their children and friends full scholarships to the top schools, and, the planet will be healed!

I’ve noted such total fails in perspective several times and completely agree with you.

They’ve been pouring more money into the Weather Channel. Segments about it every day. One day recently someone had a map all in red that “proved” This was the warmest January ever. Tell that to those of us everywhere that were huddling in front of heaters during that month.

Load all the members of the IPPC on a rocket and ship them to Mars.

I would rather see them stripped to their undies and dropped in the middle of some wilderness. Let them become one with Gaia.

Massive new taxes will solve global warming to the same degree that human sacrifices made it rain on dried out crops.

Basically the same mentality – and the same types of people.

dentarthurdent on April 14, 2014 at 4:44 PM

Know this, if the global warmers had managed to ram massive new taxes and regulations on every facet of our lives through the government, now after 17.5 years of no global warming, they’d be crowing victory from every corner and on every media outlet about all the good they had done.

The real purpose is to destroy farming, ranching and any other industry in this country.

crankyoldlady on April 14, 2014 at 4:56 PM

Hey U.N., let’s try to save Ukraine now, and worry about the planet later.

Steve Z on April 14, 2014 at 5:49 PM

It’s not the poor holding back the rest of the country, as you imply at the pinnacle of ignorance and fatuous thinking.

bayam on April 14, 2014 at 2:14 PM

Poor people don’t hire other people to work for them.

Rich people do.

And its known as “employment”, from which the real elites…the limousine liberals….extract their percentage and call it government goodness.
