MSNBC panel wonders: Just what is Hillary Clinton’s unique qualification for President?

posted at 12:41 pm on April 10, 2014 by Ed Morrissey

No, seriously, Bill Kristol asked on Morning Joe today: What makes Hillary Clinton the most well-qualified woman for the presidency? Kristol argues that Claire McCaskill has more accomplishments in the Senate, and that can also be said for other “governors and Senators” in the Democratic Party, “that made it on their own, I would add.” The panel, which initially scoffed at Kristol’s question, cannot name any accomplishment at all, and Chuck Todd ends up talking about how much she traveled as Secretary of State.

As John Ekdahl writes at AoSHQ, “this is just a great clip all around”:

John writes:

It’s funny watching the question of Hillary’s greatest accomplishment asked and laughingly rejected as ridiculous at first, then having it slowly dawn on the panel that none of them has an answer.

What’s even more amusing is the suggestion that we should wait for Hillary’s next book to tell us what her qualifications are. Clinton has been in the public eye since the Clinton days in Arkansas, 30 years ago. She ran for President in 2008 after eight nondescript years in the Senate, and then served four years as Secretary of State in a tenure bookended by the embarrassing “reset button” with Russia and the Benghazi failure that left four Americans dead. If she had a major accomplishment in all of that time, we wouldn’t need a campaign biography to discover it.

What was her qualification to be a Senator? What qualified her to be Secretary of State?

They never answered those questions either.

I am not even slightly afraid of Hilldebeast in 2016. Obama exposed just how horrifically AWFUL a candidate she is back in 2008, that an EMPTY SUIT with no record whatsoever could beat her. She is unlikely to win the nomination because Soros will find another empty suit puppet to run against her.

Why is she a bad candidate? Well, she has just as little of a record as Obama had (and what record she has is bad), her personality is negative, ie, the more people are exposed to her, the LESS THEY LIKE HER. She’s not capable of projecting warmth because she’s colder than an arctic glacier. She lost to someone who was just as cold, but he was better at reading from teleprompters and PRETENDING to have a personality!

She was the secretary of partying, her tour as Secretary of State was nothing but a worldwide vacation for her. You see this attitude in many areas of this administration. The Secret Service problems are just one example of the lax leadership.

It doesn’t matter that she has no real achievements. Did anyone ask what Obama had accomplished in his life that qualified him to be POTUS? Of course not. That would have been…racist.

Likewise, it will be considered misogynistic to question Hillary’s bonafides. The Dems know how to push voters’ emotional buttons, how to give them the chance to feel good about their votes.

Qualifications have no part in the mix when you are talking about the first black, first woman, first whatever. It’s gamesmanship.

It’s all about winning, not governing. And frankly, as a result, the voters get the kind of “leadership” they deserve.

The worst part about this is that it probably wont matter and Hillary will sail into the WH in 2016 as easily and with as much media hype and headwind as the equally incompetent and unqualified radical lib Barack Obama did, because…let’s make history, er…herstory I mean.

Owing to the knee-pad media and demographic advantages already on Clinton’s side plus Hurricane Bubba, it will take a Herculean effort to convince the electorate not to repeat the disastrous Obama mistake, and as I survey the GOP field of possibles, I don’t see many Herculi.

Khun Joe on April 10, 2014 at 1:26 PM

Do not underestimate this woman. She comes from a family of high rolling grifters–The Swindlin’ Rodhams. She would cut you open just to see what you had for lunch–but ONLY if it were to her political or economic advantage. Remember too, in her primary against Obama, she got off to a slow start but almost overtook him by winning 80% of the later races.

Her formula is the foolproof one Obama employed. Substitute “first woman” for “first black”, “woman basher” for “racist” and the reelection rhetoric will also be similar. “Most presidents are re-elected. If this one is not it is because of (“racism” Obama) (“woman bashing” Hillary).

And against this formidable candidate (albeit a disaster for the country) who do the Republicans have to offer? Jeb Bush? Huckaby?

MaiDee on April 10, 2014 at 1:26 PM

Well, if that is enough of a qualification, then Miley Cyrus or Lady Gaga (if they were 35) could be the Democratic nominee. Both have more mileage (distance) on them than Her Royal Thighness.

ConstantineXI on April 10, 2014 at 12:47 PM

That’s just it though. You don’t really need any real qualifications to become a US Senator. You’re one out of a hundred, so the damage you can do is minimized. When someone is running for President however, you would hope there would be at least something, anything on your resume you can point to that qualifies you to lead what’s left of a once great nation.

Yes, I’m aware that the issue of qualifications was basically buried during Obama’s candidacy in 2008, but the problem there is we’ve seen the result of elevating a person with no accomplishments and no experience governing or even running anything to the highest office in the land. It’s been an unmitigated disaster.

Is 50.1% of the electorate stupid or suicidal enough to once again elect someone with no resume to speak of just because of the historic nature of her candidacy and because sycophants in the press keep telling us how great she is(even though they can never give an example of why)? Maybe. But I foresee a lot more Americans renouncing their citizenship and getting the hell outta Dodge if that happens. This nation is on life support and cannot survive 12-16 years of this kind of government.

And don’t underestimate the combination of the treasonous media and the 52% of the voting population for whom the race for the Presidency is a combination of validation of their worldview/ lifestyle and a popularity contest. It wouldn’t take much for her to become a viable candidate again.

From the Dems’ POV;

1. She’s a woman.

2. She has an even bigger mass of unfocused hatreds and loathing of Western civilization simmering in her mind than The One does.

3. No one who has crossed her so far is around to tell about it.

4. She’s a woman.

5. She really, really, really hates Israel. (This is a focused hatred as opposed to an unfocused, generalized one.)

6. She’s been successful in business by using Chicago political methods.

7. She’s been successful in politics by using Chicago business methods.

8. She’d have no problem with returning the “stolen territories” to Mexico, and nuking any American city that disagreed with that.

9. In fact, she’d have no problem with nuking any American who dissed her, period.

10. Oh, did I mention she’s a woman?

And of course the main reason;

11. She’s batsh!t crazy, everybody knows it, and nobody in the party is dumb enough to cross Lady Macbeth.

Other than that, I got nothing.
