Harry Reid: I don’t recall accusing Republicans of lying about ObamaCare horror stories

posted at 1:21 pm on March 27, 2014 by Allahpundit

Via America Rising and the IJR, is this the key that finally unlocks the enigma of Harry Reid, tinpot demagogue? Maybe, from moment to moment, this guy just … doesn’t realize what’s coming out of his mouth. Hard to believe he could forget saying on the Senate floor that all ObamaCare horror stories — all of them — are a GOP/Koch brothers fairy tale designed to besmirch the stellar reputation of the Affordable Care Act. Those remarks got heavy coverage in conservative media, and even got picked up at WaPo. You don’t toss a grenade that powerful without choosing your target carefully. Or do you? Someone needs to ask this guy if he’s heard any unusual stories about Mitt Romney’s taxes. If he blanks on it, we’re onto something.

Imagine how upset he’ll be when he finds out that even a few younger people have had trouble figuring out how Healthcare.gov works.

Liberals defended Reid’s comments by saying he was only talking about the Koch brother ads as being lies, not all of the horror stories. I’m sure that would be his idiotic defense if he was actually pushed on this matter by the media.

ever’dilligent’ didn’t accuse anyone either.

For all the hundreds of millions spent on dishonest anti-obamacare advertising, still the only thing that has slowed the cbo projected signups was the unforced error of the website not working for the first month.

Think about that. Hundreds of millions spent on obamacare attack ads, and they haven’t done a thing to slow the projected signups. Pretty stunning, really.

Of course, the fact that the right is actually spending all this money trying to scare people out of buying medical insurance is digustingly immoral in its own right. The fact that every single one of these scare ads has been exposed as a blatant lie raises that immorality to a mindblowing level.

Spending hundreds of millions of dollars lying to people to scare them into putting their lives at risk. Hell is too good for these people.

I can think of only 3 explanations:

1) Harry Reid is senile and should be put out to pasture.

2) Harry Reid is a serial liar who believes his constituents are stupid and/or won’t care(plus he figures the media will help cover for him).

3) Harry Reid is a serial liar who’s too stupid to understand that we have this modern invention called a video camera and that these recordings can be uploaded onto this other thing called the internet for people to view.

WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid sent nearly $17,000 in campaign funds to his granddaughter, and disclosed their relationship only under pressure from the Federal Election Commission, it was reported Wednesday.

The Senate’s top Democrat announced he was reimbursing the money after it was revealed his campaign had cut two separate checks of $5,417 and $11,370 to his granddaughter last October for what were described as “holiday gifts.”

The checks went to “Ryan Elisabeth” — but Reid’s office didn’t initially disclose that the recipient was Ryan Elisabeth Reid, the 23-year-old daughter of his son, Rory.

When first contacted by Las Vegas journalist Jon Ralston, Reid’s office said Ryan Elisabeth was a campaign vendor — without acknowledging she was Reid’s granddaughter.

Reid will refund campaign for purchases from granddaughter’s business
WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plans to reimburse his campaign more than $16,000 for purchasing holiday gifts from his granddaughter’s jewelry business.

The Federal Election Commission sent Reid’s campaign a letter last week asking it to provide more information about payments listed as “holiday gifts” on its 2013 year-end campaign finance report. The filing lists two payments in October 2013 to “Ryan Elisabeth” totaling $16,786.93.

A Reid aide confirmed that “Ryan Elisabeth” is the name of a company owned by his granddaughter Ryan Elisabeth Reid. The aide described the gifts as trinkets — coasters, picture frames, jewelry — valued at about $50 each. The aide said they were distributed to a large number of supporters and staff members.

I only partially agree. Those “episodes” on camera are only because of C-Span. Reid wouldn’t have been out there making stupid partisan attacks if the cameras were not rolling. Much of the theater we see in Congress would also go away if not for the cameras. Best thing that could happen is to eliminate C-Span completely.
