Obama mocks Republicans: When I try to “fix” ObamaCare, they call me a tyrant

posted at 11:21 am on March 4, 2014 by Allahpundit

Via CNS, a perfect complement to this morning’s news of the umpteenth ass-covering ad hoc executive rule change to his pet boondoggle. (This little stand-up routine at DNC HQ was recorded on Friday evening, about an hour after he delivered his somber “there will be costs” statement on Ukraine.) Here’s the result of three years of education at Harvard Law plus several years spent lecturing students as a law prof at the University of Chicago: As long as the president’s trying to “fix things” — and “things” very much includes his party’s prospects in the next election — it’s absurd to hassle him over separation of powers. Which, I’m embarrassed to say, isn’t the first time he’s used that rationale. Remember?

[W]here Congress is unwilling to act, I will take whatever administrative steps that I can in order to do right by the American people.

And if Congress thinks that what I’ve done is inappropriate or wrong in some fashion, they’re free to make that case. But there’s not an action that I take that you don’t have some folks in Congress who say that I’m usurping my authority. Some of those folks think I usurp my authority by having the gall to win the presidency. And I don’t think that’s a secret. But ultimately, I’m not concerned about their opinions — very few of them, by the way, are lawyers, much less constitutional lawyers.

I am concerned about the folks who I spoke to today who are working really hard, are trying to figure out how they can send their kids to college, are trying to make sure that they can save for their retirement. And if I can take steps on their behalf, then I’m going to do so. And I would hope that more and more of Congress will say, you know what, since that’s our primary focus, we’re willing to work with you to advance those ideals. But I’m not just going to sit back if the only message from some of these folks is no on everything, and sit around and twiddle my thumbs for the next 1,200 days.

That’s the Obama rule on executive power grabs. If Congress won’t do what he wants and if he can semi-credibly defend his actions as “fixing something” or “doing right by the American people” (or the Libyan people, when it comes to intervening abroad without congressional authorization), he’s entitled to act. The chief limit on this rule is political, not legal: He’s held off on expanding his DREAM amnesty to the entire illegal population, ostensibly because he lacks authority but in reality because he’s nervous how it’ll play for Democrats in the midterms if he does it. If/when his political calculus changes, his calculus about his authority will too. It takes the fine mind of a constitutional lawyer, honed by decades of study, to find this much nuance in the constitutional limits on his own power. Can’t wait for Jonathan Turley’s next appearance before the House.

Exit question via my pal Karl: Remember when Obama denounced Bush’s executive signing statements as “a license to evade laws that the president does not like or as an end-run around provisions designed to foster accountability”? Since when is a president’s attempt to “fix things” objectionable?

All of his attempts at humor to try to make his Un-Constitutional and illegal acts seem not that big of a deal only further demonstrates his total lack of respect for the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and his vow to God and the American people to protect them. Even TODAY the news is reportign how he has VIOLATED THE CONSTITTION AGAIN by once more delaying the enforcement of Obamacare, violating the Separation of Powers Act by by-passing Congress a THIRTEENTH TIME now to change a law.

Regarding Obamacare alone, he has modified the law 13 times and has illegally issued more than 2,200 waivers to a select few – giving a select few different benefits, treating them differently than everyone else…which is against the law.

It was declared recently that Obama has driven this nation to the Constitutional tipping point. He has done so by so blatantly and so often completely disregarding and violating the United States Constitution – which both provides and limits his authorities – and the Rule of Law. Despite claiming to be a Constitutional scholar he has only proven that his studies and expertise has been on how to skirt and violate the Constitution. He has kept his promise to ‘fundamentally change’ the U.S.

He has done his best to destroy the United States’ reliance and loyalty to the Constitution and undermine and end the reality that it is by this document we have prospered and survived for over 200 years. He nacsisistically believes that he has both the wisdom, talent, and authority to run this nation better than the Founding Fathers and the Constitution, that his Communist tutoring, Socialist education, and hate-spewing racist anti-American mentoring, personal intelligence, and charisma makes him and him alone worthy to dictate his vision and will upon this nation. The only problem with this delusional self-image he has is the continuous wave of failure after failure resulting from everything he touches, everything he does.

Instead of ‘America’s savior’ in the mirror that he sees when he looks at it, the reflection looking back is a ‘domestic enemy’, the likes of those mentioned in his oath of office, that is destroying this nation.

One really has to wonder what Il Duce did when at Harvard Law.

One would think it would seem pretty basic Law 101 that if a politician sought to ‘fix’ a law in effect, one would have to go to through the legislative process to amend the law. Only someone who viewed themselves above the law would think that they could use a pen and phone to ‘fix’ a law.

It’s a concession that the law is fundamentally flawed.

All Obama is concerned about is November. There’s nothing left to gain or lose for him now.

He knows full well ObamaCare is a disaster and America hates it. He also knows the GOP will do nothing to stop him de-stabilize it. They’re at least smart enough to let Obama’s fingerprints be all over this mess, then reserve the right to do the exact same thing to “fix it” when it’s their turn.

Here is something the Panahou High School Bench Scrub who was raised by upper-class white grandparents then entered a California private college using his ‘foreign student’ credentials to gain entry. Then to transfer to Columbia as a foreign student applicant with AFFIRMATIVE ACTION credentials (he was ‘of color’) then applied to Harvard using AA bonus points for his GPA. There to be the token elevated to the Harvard Law Review and NEVER TO HAVE WRITTEN ANYTHING … EVER, published or otherwise. He worked as a ‘step & fetchit’ as a paralegal in NY for a few years then moved to Chicago, the Land of Institutional Graft, there to become a Community Organizer and a political wannabe. Given a job by his mentors as a night school lecturer (even Obowmao says he is a Constitutional Scholar and was a Professor … which is absolute HORSESHIT.)
In the design world there are levels of competency: Great (or even Elegant) Designs, Good Designs, Bad Designs, and there are Pieces of Shiite.
Most of those short of Great can be redesigned to bring them closer to the wished-for ‘Perfection’
However things like ObamaCare are what are known as POS and no matter what is done, the best solution is to discard them.

then applied to Harvard using AA bonus points for his GPA.

Missilengr on March 4, 2014 at 12:16 PM

Don’t forget that Barry’s sperm donor, Obama, Sr., also attended Harvard, so Barry got the benefit of not only Aff*rmative Act*on points, he also got the benefit of legacy points on his admission.

The left was outraged that legacy points helped George W. Bush get into Yale, but awarding legacy points (and AA points) to help Barry Obama get into Harvard was just another exercise in “social justice” for a poor, underprivileged little (half) black boy (who was raised by middle class whites and attended the most expensive private school in Hawaii).

because he knows he’ll never be called out by a compliant media.

Media? How about being called out by the Republicans? I just sent Senator Blunt an email and a tweet asking him to do just that with a press conference.

Vince on March 4, 2014 at 12:49 PM

‘Complicit’ is a more accurate choice of words. For both the media and many of the DC Republicans.

kcewa on March 4, 2014 at 12:53 PM

There are a lot of things about this guy I could give or take, but probably when he misrepresents his opposition and uses it to mock and condescend is what galls me the most.

This is just like his comments demeaning Romney on foreign policy, talking about horses and bayonets, and the Cold War being over. Really chafes my bum.

DC is one big Fu*king Sh*thouse at this point.

These people LIE with pleasure…pure, unadulterated Pleasure.

They don’t know any other way but to lie and enjoy it and they don’t care who they scr*w over to do it. It’s ingrained in their genes.

onesheep on March 4, 2014 at 1:09 PM

Meh. I am surprised he cares what anyone on the right says. With people like verb/libfree stroking his ego all day, he really doesn’t have all that much to complain about. What a f!cking cry baby.

He usurps the constitution? So what, it’s for the good of us dumb@sses out here in the real world.

JAGonzo on March 4, 2014 at 1:10 PM

He seems very thrown and concerned by all the nipping at his heels.

You can see how the incessant attacks have just worn him down and eroded his confidence.

Maybe Ted Cruz could show a little merciful humanity and ease up…just a little?

Agree with the prick, pass a law that exempts everyone from Obamacare……. for forever.

Arbalest on March 4, 2014 at 1:20 PM

Obama enacts a law that takes control over 1/3 of the US economy, allowing no discussion of the law nor even to allow those voting on the law to actually read the law before passing it. He then, arbitrarily, begins modifying the law to give leeway to friends and to force an unequal protection/enforcement of the law…again, not allowing anyone to discuss any of the changes to the law. He continues making changes to make the law fit a particular groups desires. Yes, that is the manner in which tyrants behave. Any time, though, the citizen’s ask for a change or removal of part of the law, we hear that the ACA is settled law (as though this particular is set in stone – again, the act of a tyrant. So, if you act like a tyrant – folks will call you tyrannical. Even if you think of yourself as benevolent.

evie1949 on March 4, 2014 at 1:26 PM

So, Obama wants to rescue his legacy, but is not interested in rescuing gay Ukranians.

faraway on March 4, 2014 at 1:27 PM

It appears Obamacare is nothing more than a joke to the President. But, the joke is on the American people. All I ask for is the strength to endure 3 more years of this idiot.

DDay on March 4, 2014 at 1:28 PM

We really need to raise our standards regarding Presidential candidates. Obama is just a huckster.

oldennis on March 4, 2014 at 1:29 PM

I next expect Obama to come out in full clown costume and say, “Homey don’t play dat.”

Adjoran on March 4, 2014 at 1:33 PM

Can’t we just rename Medicaid to Obamacare and give the President some type of legacy.
