Harry Reid: Liar

posted at 7:21 pm on February 27, 2014 by Guy Benson

Allahpundit described my reaction to Harry Reid’s latest broadsides against truth and decency rather accurately, writing that I was “virtually shaking with rage and disbelief that this tool could say this with a straight face.”  I eventually channeled that anger — and it was genuine anger — into a rapid fire Twitter fact-check of the US Senate’s dishonorable leader.  Reid asserted that “all of” the personal accounts from people who have been harmed by Obamacare “are untrue.”  In short, this known liar unironically and casually smeared millions of Americans, including a number of cancer patients, as liars for daring to notice that Democrats’ unpopular healthcare law was actively hurting them.  With a tip of the hat to our Twitchy cousins for compiling these tweets into a single post, here is a small slice of what the second most powerful Democrat in America sneers at as “untrue” fabrications of the Koch brothers.  Cancer patients whose plans they liked and depended on were canceled under Obamacare, violating the president’s promise and throwing their lives into turmoil:

Those are in addition to the Michigan woman whose story Reid called “absolutely false” in yet another cretinous, mean-spirited lie. Are these sick children, AIDS patients and disabled families doing the Koch’s bidding, too?

Now let’s hear from some decidedly not “rich” Americans whose healthcare costs are spiking thanks to Democrats’ big “affordable” experiment:

And finally, for good measure, let’s review some of the emotional — and actually inaccurate — “success” and sob stories that Democrats have trotted out to try to manipulate public opinion on Obamacare:

Obama wrongly embellishing the details of his own mother’s death is the perfect note on which to end. Conservatives’ anecdotes are fortified by statistics and evidence, too — even though the existence of any negative experiences should theoretically be enough to expose the Left’s mendacious “no trade-offs, no losers, no downsides” sales pitch for their disastrous law. Oh, and the worst betrayals are yet to come for millions of victims-in-waiting. Or as Reid might call them, future liars.

Harry Reid: Liar

ObamaCare was sold to the American People on lies…

… Remember that?

Seven Percent Solution on February 27, 2014 at 9:57 PM

Maybe Reid just assumes that since Obama told a Three Pinocchio Lie about his mother’s insurance problems, everybody does.

de rigueur on February 27, 2014 at 10:06 PM

If “liar” is the worst thing you can think of to say about Harry Reid, you need to expand your vocabulary.

gryphon202 on February 27, 2014 at 10:08 PM

You guys railing against Mormons should leave Mitt out; while I disagree with some of his policies, I find him a decent man and a good politician, better than most on both sides of the aisle.

It is a national tragedy that he isn’t president.

Johnny 100 Pesos on February 27, 2014 at 10:29 PM

I certainly would not want to be reid.

Here he is, nearing the stepping off point of his life and has to consider what soon comes next. Is there “someone” he’ll have to answer to for the things he’s done, the way he’s led his life, how he’s completely **cked people over for the benefit of the left wingers and his wallet?

Maybe he’s worried about that, I hope so at least. I bet though, since he’s a flaming progressive leftist liar and scumbag, that he really believes there is nothing after the curtain drops, so there is really nothing to be accountable for at all. No worries, just dark nothing.

Isn’t he gonna be shocked….

Nicely done, Guy!

Hill60 on February 27, 2014 at 11:15 PM

I could write the ad for the GOP, if they really don’t have anyone capable there. Reid, if we had a free press, would have been called for his Romney remarks. If the press doesn’t investigate the claims and call it they’re still not doing their job.

bflat879 on February 27, 2014 at 11:36 PM

slick, you are right and I’m wrong. All the cost comparisons between pre-Obamacare and post-Obamacare policies in October are now wrong, though.

jim56 on February 27, 2014 at 11:56 PM

He’s not right in the head.

rdbrewer on February 28, 2014 at 12:21 AM

Reid has, you know, brain problems.

rdbrewer on February 28, 2014 at 12:21 AM

the method Reid took could have worked in the past when everything was theoretical, but now real people are being affected by it, and people know people who are being affected, and the $hit has not really hit the fan yet, up coming employer mandate and the tax on the people not buying into the fed/state healthcare.

Where is Mitch McConnell and every Republican in the Senate (and the House for that matter)???

Until he and all of them hold a press conference, publish a letter or some other parliamentary act to voice their anger and demand an apology and/or official rebuke from their side of the aisle, McConnell and all of them in the GOP are just as contemptible for their silence.

I am disgusted beyond belief, if that is even possible considering their fecklessness and collusion with the Democrats to date.

Johnny 100 Pesos on February 27, 2014 at 10:29 PM

Exactly. Mitt wasn’t the most inspiring speaker on the stump, but he was decent, and the best the Democrats could come up with against him was nonsense about “binders full of women” and what was probably a $3000 lift in his garage.

We’ll unpleasantly witness in another decade (if not less) the mistake we made by reelecting Obama, likely followed up by Hillary!™. The “pink ring” this “cat in the hat” has left will engulf us.

This jackscrew is a disgrace to the Republic . . . and all the wormy little Republicans just cower in the corner and let him get away with all of his crap.

This piece of garbage should be dragged kicking and screaming from the floor of the Senate and thrown in the nearest dumpster,The absolute gall this man to foist Obamacare on the American people, destroying their health care, and then to call them liars when they had the audacity to complain abut it.The real problem wth this nation is that he is going to get away with it.

redware on February 28, 2014 at 7:49 AM

Did anybody on the other side have the spine to get up and call him out? Lying has become quite the art form for democrats. Lying goes along well with baby killing. Is this what Jesus would do mr president since you have told us He is your personal Savior?

He not only lied, he did it from the Senate floor.

He (knowingly) falsely accused private citizens from the Senate floor.

I would think the Senate would have a code of ethics which would result in repercussions for such an act.

In California, the Democrats are refusing to remove a State Senator convicted of 8 felonies or another who was just indicted on 24 counts of corruption from their offices – all in the name to protect their supermajority.

There is one set of rules when it comes to morals and ethics for Democrats, and another set of rules when it comes to those who are in the Republican party.

He is the 100% pure Democrat.

APACHEWHOKNOWS on February 28, 2014 at 11:20 AM

I wonder if Allah can tell us..
Does Guy shake with rage and disbelief when he hears the tall tales told by anti-ACA politicians?
Did the untrue ‘Bette in Spokane’ tale just rattle him to the core?
Did the false ‘horror story’ told by Cornelius Kelly and then hyped by Repubs just make Guy turn blue with anger?
When he learned that Kelly was a former Conservative Party candidate, did Guy just bury his face in his hands?

Just seems he can’t stand any lies or any stretching of the truth or any typically hyperbolic partisan finger wagging…at all, right?

Is anyone really surprised, Dirty Harry is the lefts attack dog. He says the things the others don’t want to and they say thats just Harry, just like thats just Joe (Biden). They absolutely know he is lying but figure many sheeple will believe him.

Sven on February 28, 2014 at 11:54 AM

Nothing else need be said or shown to expose who Harry Reid really is. He is the Liberal Progressive Democratic Party version of ‘Baghdad Bob’.

Remember that guy?! As American troops were shown entering Beghdad down the street behind him, he was on camera declaring how the ‘American Infidels’ would not get anywhere near Baghdad because Hussein’s Republican Guad would create rivers of blood frm the murdered, defeated American troops. THAT is Harry Reid for the Obama administration and Liberal Progressives!

He is not even close to the ‘servant of the people’ he was elected to be but instead a crooked, criminal, deceitful, lying, party/self-serving elitist would-be dictator-lite who believes serving as a politician makes him above the very laws he passes and the Constitution on which he swore an oath to protect yet now violates on a near daily basis.

He is one of the very pillars of protection – a gatekeeper / ‘bodyguard’ – on which the Obama administration survives. If it was not for his continuous stone-walling and ensuring the votes in the senate exists to prevent Obama from being Impeached for his crimes, America would not be in the shape it is in & Obama would be Impeached by now.

easyt65 on February 28, 2014 at 12:16 PM

Reid to the American people “Who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?”

The karma is building against this monster of a man and when it goes off it will be massive.

Sure, there’s liberal Mormons, conservative Mormons, libertarian Mormons, RINO Mormons.

Sen. Jeff Flake, a Mormon Republican from Arizona, to seem like a comic genius when he delivered such zingers as an introduction of his spouse as “my only wife, Cheryl.”

Read more: Here

Orrin Hatch
Having served as Utah’s senator for 36 years, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, is currently one of the longest serving politicians in the Senate.

Over the years he has held several positions, including chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee from 2003-2005. He is currently on the Senate Finance Committee.

Mike Lee
As a proud member of the tea party, the freshman senator Mike Lee, R-Utah, has often championed tea party causes on the national stage. Recently he played a prominent role in the tea party’s move to shut down the federal government over the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Etc. Etc.

Harry Reid said Mitt Romney payed no taxes over 10 year period. he is a liar for sure.

gerrym51 on February 28, 2014 at 1:32 PM

Did the untrue ‘Bette in Spokane’ tale just rattle him to the core?

The “untruth” is that she did not apply under the government website and that she had a so called “catastrophic” policy. The truth is regardless, her premiums went up.

Did the false ‘horror story’ told by Cornelius Kelly and then hyped by Repubs just make Guy turn blue with anger?

The “false” horror story was not false, it was true that he was unable to receive care for the baby due to a clerical error. It was not caused by the ACA per se, but that was his assumption until the State of NY owned up to their error. This all you have to show us, to assert that the “Right” is lying about the wonders of Obamacare?

When he learned that Kelly was a former Conservative Party candidate, did Guy just bury his face in his hands?

Seriously? Because he was a Conservative Party candidate he is a liar? Does that mean any Democrat who has made a representation that turns out to be different than what it appeared to be at the time is now representative of all Democrats and proves they are all liars? If so your party of choice is in trouble.

Why are you so disingenuous? How is it that you refuse to recognize the numerous, outright lies told by Harry Reid. Not misinterpretations, misunderstandings, incorrect facts, rather straight up lies.

Truth is meaningless to you Verbaluce. You, like every other so called liberal, will say and do anything to make yourself feel good about the foolishness you have pushed onto us.

Neitherleftorright on February 28, 2014 at 1:33 PM

Every current Republican Politician in Washington D.C. should be voted out of office as soon as possible for ‘breach of trust’, ‘aiding and abetting Constitutional and legal violations, and violations of their sworn oaths of office!

Every single one of them made a vow to God and every American, to protect and defend the Constitutin and Rule of Law. They did not promise to do so when it was politically/financially popular or beneficial for them. They vowed to do this PERIOD.

Instead, we have all been held hostage by these cowards who refuse to carry out their duty for fear of losing their jobs instead of doing what is called for in order to save the nation and preserve the Republic.

I do not blame Obama for what he is doing – you can’t blame a wold for eating a chicken when he is INVITED into the hen house. We all knew Obama is the Muslim-educated son of a Muslim Anti-Colonialist / Anti-American, is a self-professed student of Communist Frank Marshall Davis, is a student of Socialist Saul Alynski who has even quoted his ‘Rules for Radicals’ during his inauguration speech, is the admitted mentored student of racist hate-spewing Anti-American Jeremiah Wright, and openly declared such great disdain for America and the Constitution that his plan was to ‘fundamentally change it’. Like Hitler with ‘Mein Kampf’, Obama told everyone who he was and what he was going to do before he began doing it.

The Founding Fathers provided politicians with a way to prevent such a man from ever succeeding in doing wat he has done and continues to do…what they could not foresee was that future American politicians would be such cowards and/or so slef-centered that they would REFUSE to adhere to their oaths and would actually carry out what is within the Constitution in order to save it and the nation!

Alberta_Patriot on February 28, 2014 at 3:44 PM

More and more my “rage & disbelief” is being redirected toward incumbent Republicans who give Democratic lies a pass.

To hell with the “rules” of the Senate. Every Republican Senator should bring in a real person from their state who has been harmed by Obamacare, and one by one have them tell their stories in the well of the Senate. Then put those stories into campaign ads in each state showing Harry Reid’s blatant lies and the truth of Obamacare’s effect on real people.

I’m willing to vote Democrats out of office, but I expect the Republican party to make a strong case as to why they should be in office. So far, most incumbent Republicans have not made that case.

Conservchik on February 28, 2014 at 9:17 PM

The best approach to Harry Reid, I have always believed, is a very public and relentless campaign to educate voters as to exactly how he made his millions.

There is one particular deal, when he manipulated not only the path of an interstate highway, but arranged for an unnecessary interchange basically in the middle of nowhere, coincidentally right in the middle of some desert property a consortium of his donors/cronies had purchased and allowed him to buy into late, with no risk, realizing a windfall from his actions in Congress. But his son’s hiring as a highly paid attorney for SEIU with little qualifications is also worthy of trumpeting.

And there are other such apparent quid pro quos. The guy is almost openly crooked – and notoriously short-tempered and thin-skinned. A campaign highlighting his corruption would drive him batty.

Adjoran on February 28, 2014 at 10:12 PM

“virtually shaking with rage…” What a joke. The key word is “virtually”. One of Hugh’s “Young Guns”, more like a “Spit Wad”. A beltway wannabe bullshit artist. Attached at the hip to the Republican Party.

This guy’s no less a liar than Reid.

rcl on March 1, 2014 at 10:11 PM

Come on. You know if any of these stories were true they would be running on NPR, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN. The info is only been showing up on the right wing networks so there is no proof that these stories could be true. Don’t forget it was Senator Reid that broke the story about Romney not paying his taxes for ten years. So there is no proof that Reid is lying.
Sorry just having sarcastic fun!!! But you know this is the way the MSM will report it.
